We rested up on Friday for an early morning and our last big activity of the trip—a sunrise hot air balloon ride!! The 5 am wake up was worth it for the peaceful float above a beautiful landscape. We were understandably very tired (and were having difficult with stairs 😂) after our climb so we decided to play it pretty chill in Marrakech. We booked a pretty fancy room in a really nice Riad so we spent our free day on Friday enjoying the space while napping, reading, and chilling on the rooftop terrace. Not long after we left the summit of Toubkal did the weather break and the sun come out! ☀️☀️ It was a lovely way to experience a truly stunning mountain landscape as we made our way back down into the valley. We took a break at the refuge to pack up and eat lunch as the weather resumed a cloudy rainy affect. It was a very long, mentally challenging hike all the way back to Imlil. Not five minutes after getting into our transport it resumed raining again. 😅😁 The total trip was 17 miles and 8000 feet ascended. Breaking up with Seville was hard but ending up in Morocco made it a lot easier 😆. After a long day of flying and delays we ended up in Fes (my first time ever in Africa 😃😃) and made our way to our Riad. A Riad is an old Moroccan home, usually ornately decorated and extremely beautiful, that has been converted to a small guest house. Ours, Riad Toyour, did not disappoint! The staff was incredibly friendly (like we’re Facebook friends now friendly 😂) and inviting and our room was stunning, clean, and air conditioned. New friends Felix and Ella from the UK!! These two walked in on our cooking class exploring the restaurant—we had so much food that we asked them to try some.
