DnDoggos - #264 “Something’s Gotta Give"
There’s dragons in this game?!?!?
I have waited five years to make that joke lol
Tell me about a way you help support your friends and party members!
–
Wow. So… I really didn’t want to have to write this. But something’s gotta give.
I am absolutely burned out. I have barely been keeping my head above water for months now and I really dislike that I am announcing this during my anniversary month when I just celebrated 5 years.
But I just celebrated 5 years of a weekly webcomic. 264 weeks. 264 weeks with hardly a real break during that time, and through so many life changes and so much stress that I just … need to breathe. I need a break. I need some help.
I will be pausing the weekly webcomic for a short time while I take a breath. I hope to share sneak peeks of my upcoming graphic novel with you each Friday in lieu of the weekly comic pages. But Magnus and I need to go chill and take a small breather from the campaign. (Real life Magnus agrees with this, cause he will get more cuddles!)
I am just one person doing this comic. I am also making two books based on the comic. I also run an Etsy shop and try to keep my print on demand shops updated as well. And commissions. And running a patreon. And whatever else comes with doing this.
I am just one person… and this is my entire income. It is incredibly scary to pause the weekly webcomic, but that’s the point I’m at now. I have no other choice because my mental health is tanking. And it’s not just the work and the comic, but Real Life on Hard Mode these past few years, too.
I know that so many of you look forward to the comic each Friday. You have shared how it’s been there for you during really hard times, or been something to share and make new friends. And that has really helped to keep me going, too. But for several months I have been telling myself, “Come on, you’ve made this comic through worse! You can keep going!” But it’s getting harder and harder to do that. I am… really, truly struggling right now.
I sincerely hope you all will stick around, and even without new weekly pages, consider supporting me and the real life dogs. This is my entire income for food, bills, insurance, etc. Every bit of support from all of you really means so much to me.
Thank you for being on this adventure with us. It’s time for a Short Rest. And I hope we will see you all when we continue the adventure again soon.
Did you know DnDoggos is getting a graphic novel?! It's true! Coming to you in TWO BOOKS in 2024 and 2025, this well be a BRAND NEW adventure featuring your favorite doggos. Here is a mock-up cover I used to pitch my graphic novel. On top of doing the weekly webcomic and maintaining my patreon, I've been super busy working on this brand new adventure for you. I can't wait to share more sneak peeks!
DnDoggos Pawsed - #10 “This is Fine”
Sometimes I draw doodles on pages intentionally left blank.
Sometimes my wonderful colorist, Liana, colors them, and that really makes me smile.
Sometimes things are fine.
Sometimes you say “this is fine” to get you through the things that are tough.
And things have been a bit tough.
Please tell me something nice you do to get through the tough things!
DnDoggos Pawsed - #11 “Seeing Double”
I use Photoshop to draw my art. It has a neat symmetry tool I’ve used fairly often to make other art, like these designs in my shop.
But sometimes I forget to turn it off when I’m drawing. Resulting in some very silly dopplegangers.
DnDoggos Pawsed - #15 “The Jade Dragon Bone”
Pickles is excited to jump into her first one-shot now that everyone is settled at the table! And it’s looking like an epic one!
What’s your favorite type of adventure to play? Treasure hunt, solving mysteries, beating up villains, or something else?
DnDoggos Pawsed - #19 “Too Legit”
Tonka stands up and protects his friend Zoey, and the pair get the info they need to head on their quest!
Share a story about a time when you should have probably made a skill check after your party member didn’t do so well.
DnDoggos Pawsed - #09 “Change Places”
The doggos are almost ready to dive into Pickles’s special one-shot. But there’s a little problem…
Tell me about your gaming setup! Do you play in person or online? Is there assigned seating?
