iPad and Doceri Desktop
I got my iPad yesterday evening and have been slowly fooling with it and adding things to it. I immediately added Doceri to it yesterday evening though, and downloaded the trial version of Doceri Desktop onto my home computer to do a trial run. Not only could I easily control my computer, but activating the whiteboard feature allowed me to turn the computer into a whiteboard screen. Immediately I saw great potential for my classroom.
Today I taught a math lesson using Doceri Desktop on my school laptop. I stood near the back of the room and was able to write the things the students needed to see while keeping an eye on every student at the same time. No longer did my back have to be turned away from them. They liked it because it "seemed like magic" and they didn't have to worry about me being in the way. I could easily take the iPad to a student's desk to talk with them about the problem as well.
I think that my classroom management will be even better now that I do not ever have to be tied to the front of the room or my laptop again. I'm able to move amongst my students instead of staying across that invisible teacher/student line when at the SMART board.
I can't wait to use it again next week!
