Had our SnuzPod delivered! We got the SnuzPod 3 with mattress, mattress cover and a set of two sheets plus blanket.
Clever daddy built it 🙂 We think it’s beautiful!
The health visitor advised us to have as much baby stuff around as possible in the next few months so Electra gets used to it in advance and feels comfortable around it. Which means we’ve now covered it over so she doesn’t jump inside her new “cat bed” and make it all furry 😂 I’ll make another post about cat and baby thoughts, as it’s something that’s been on my mind, actually.
The SnuzPod not staying in this room, it’ll be beside our bed on my side so I can see Baby Girl through the mesh and easily unzip the side in the night to comfort her or take her out to feed or change her.
It’s as close to co-sleeping as I feel safe (controversial?) as there is a barrier which means I can’t roll on her by mistake or smother her with our duvet but she’s right there and will know I’m next to her if she needs me.
The Snuzpod rocks to soothe her and also has a ‘reflux foot’ which you put underneath at the head end, to prop her up if she gets reflux.
On another baby sleep related matter, I am in two minds about the Sleepyhead which has stellar reviews in terms of how well it helps baby sleep BUT my worries are:
-there have been some safety concerns. I think it’s mainly just if you put it inside a crib (like the SnuzPod) that it could be an issue, which could be resolved by not doing so! It just makes me nervous that there have been any issues at all, with it.
-it’s expensive and only lasts a few months; of course this depends on the size of your baby as if they start out small it’ll last longer. Maybe it’s worth waiting until she’s born to decide if it’s worth it or not? If she’s small like I was it’d be a good idea (and I was a very insecure baby) but if she’s big like The Lovely Daddy, it’ll only last a couple of months!
-if she loves it she’ll have to transfer out of it in due course which could be tricky.
Anyone out there used a Sleepyhead (Dock-a-tot in the USA) and/or have any thoughts?
