I know this is a Furby Blog, but...
I thought you all would enjoy the story of Miss Kitty.
Miss Kitty was given to me as a gift when I was a baby. She's at least 20 years old, and was the best stuffed cat a kid could have. She was a good girl, and the softest chick on the block. She aided in various adventures and vacations.
Now, after getting love for twenty years, you would expect the typical wear and tear a toy would get. So a couple years ago, Miss Kitty started to not look too well. So my mom threw her into the washing machine. Every time she looked bad, into the washing machine she went. Our washing machine is very old, and the agitator in the middle is extremely rough. Luckily, Miss Kitty emerged each time in one piece. But this by no means meant Miss Kitty looked any better. Sure, she was clean, but... Take a look for yourself.
Here is Miss Kitty this morning.
Perfectly clean, but clearly her fur was showing her age. In previous years, I tried numerous times to brush her out, but the matting just got so bad, it was impossible. You can especially see how bad the matting was around her neck, and on her back. The fibers were packed together so tightly, I wasn't sure she was fixable. Her fur is silky, too, so once it was tangled, it was stuck there for good. Her fur felt hard, and for years I've been considering tossing her away. But she means so much to me, I couldn't possibly do that. I held onto her, hoping one day I could figure out how to fix her.
So I decided that today was the day to bring Miss Kitty back to her glory days. I picked up a fine-toothed doll brush, and used a single tooth on it, to push under the matted fur, and pull each piece up one by one.
After a bit of a test run, Miss Kitty was starting to show promise.
So I didn't give up. I was determined to make her a happy cat again.
Two hours later, all of Miss Kitty's fur was untangled. Here she is now:
I'm so happy that my childhood friend can stay with me for many years to come. She looks like new, now. I also want to thank Doctor Beth for inspiring me to finally sit down and take the time to fix Miss Kitty up.
