Stressed out because if I forget to feed my Nintendodos the entire species goes extinct 😵💫
The extinct flightless pigeon has captured imaginations for over 400 years. Experts and artists are now revealing how much we have distorted
Meet the Dodo, Day 30 of Extinct Bird Drawtober!
Pictured with the Tambalacoque, or Dodo Tree; a species also native to Mauritius that almost went extinct as well. Named originally for a now-debunked relationship with this bird, it is slowly making a comeback.
The dodo is arguably the most well-known extinct bird. It is, in fact, almost synonymous with extinction itself. The bird itself was not terribly remarkable: it was a ground-dwelling island bird about the size of a large turkey. Most popular depictions are based off a 1626 illustration of an overfed elderly bird in a private collection. Wild dodos were likely a dusky brown or gray and not particularly gluttonous or stupid. It was closest related to doves and pigeons and it likely shared their intelligence.
With no large native predators, the dodo was easy for passing sailors to hunt to extinction. It is not the only casualty: much of the environment of Mauritius is irrevocably altered by over 100 extinctions and many invasive pests. The island began intensive conservation work in the 1980s that continues to this day, and is often regarded as an example of successful ongoing conservation efforts in Africa. The dodo, itself, is honored on the official Mauritius seal.

These fat birds are tamed with melons. They peck buttons and press pressure plates, and are too dumb to live. Their meat is also delicious.

So, this started as a sketch during classes, but I ended up with two full pages and I painted it digitally!
At first they were random doodles, but i started giving them doofenshmirtz backgrounds, I hope you understand some references👀
(Even so, take this as concept art, I'm thinking of doing a much better illustration‼️✨)
