I have nothing against Jewitches or Jewish atheists for the simple reason that they're not a threat to me. Christians want to save your immortal soul and will go to extreme lengths to do so. A Messianic in our midst is a threat to all of us. Jewitches just want to do weird magic and be left alone.

I hate having to conceal my political views when I am in class or in lab in US academia. People will loudly talk about how much they hate Israel and Zionism, praising political violence, all kinds of violent and bigoted takes, and because they are left wing coded they get praise, admiration, people desperate to be friends with them.

I have to conceal my thoughts or I'll be socially ostracized and possibly removed from my positions (that kind of quiet firing where people refuse to interact with you, you lose all responsibilities, and eventually leave of your own accord.) I become a quiet ghost who no one has any problems with, but the mask of inauthenticity burns every time I have to censor myself. I can barely socialize with all of the constraints on my identity and conversation topics.

People who say “we need to remember the holocaust because it still happens now” have forgotten the actual holocaust. I don’t care about 50k dead gazans (I obv. do but not in this context), especially when you advertise each one like it’s the end of the world. Holocaust doesn’t mean clearing land or civilian casualties. Holocaust means stuffing people on cattle trains, sending the to forced labour and not feeding them enough to live, because they are going to queue up for systematic executions.

And it’s not new-outside of Israel/jewish communities, most people don’t read actual ghetto/camp stories, they read Anne frank up until the point where it actually gets sad, because they still want the message to be hopeful. That’s not what we should learn from the holocaust. We should learn how easy it is to get captivated by violent racism and commit atrocities when the situation is bad

So no, the holocaust ended, and it’s about Jews-not antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other sorts of bigotry
