Do you know people keep insulting Maggie on GBBO? I’ve seen a lot of people call her a Tory, and I just don’t get it. Like, she just seems like an old lady that prefers baking things that are considered classic.
i'm not sure when this ask was sent because i only saw it this morning, but yes, that's exactly what i was on about last night!! i genuinely don't understand the maggie hate, i can understand thinking she deserved to leave because she was clearly the weakest baker this week, but a bunch of people are taking that as an excuse to make personal attacks.
and like, i get disliking tories, i feel the same. but for one thing, that's not an excuse to use sexist insults and never has been. and two: maggie has done literally nothing but bake. there's absolutely no indication whatsoever of what her political views are. the only 'arguments' i've seen some people making for her giving off ~tory vibes~ are that she prefers to bake classic recipes, like you say. by that same logic, my own mother must be a brexiteering tory, and she's literally a left-wing european immigrant.
it makes absolutely no sense. it really is a sad state of things if an old woman can't even exist without people making random assumptions about her character and choosing to insult her based purely off what they imagine her to be like.
