what do you think of the axl/dizzy matchup? personally I find the ice pillar really annoying but I think that may likely be a skill issue on my part.

Axl Dizzy sucks for Axl because Dizzy is a lot more comfortable at every range than Axl is. Both "I Used This to Catch Fish" (the ice pillar) and "For Roasting Chestnuts" (the flame spear that Necro does) beat Rensen entirely. Coupled with the fact that her movement speed is very good and her buttons are faster than Axl's, it's very hard for Axl to find an effective range and consistently shut her down. I actually hate it very much LOL. With the ice pillar you can super jump and airdash forward if you react in time and clock her with a counterhit j.S but you've gotta be careful - most of the time you're better off just blocking the ice pillar and trying to catch what she does next (the ice pillar stops being active once you block it, so you can dashblock into it and then go back to what you were doing, just be careful if it hits meaty or if the Dizzy likes to follow up with another ice spike). What really sucks is that in addition to all that, her up close pressure and strike throw is really good. I honestly struggle to deal with it so I don't have much adive other than block all her normals in the blockstring normally (without FD) and then stand block her 6H (the narwhal that guard crushes) with FD and I've found that typically pushes her out far enough that you cab smack her if she isn't paying attention and tries to overextend by running at you for more Strike/Throw. The matchup isn't unplayable or anything but it does really suck - you've gotta be REALLY conscientious and on the ball with what Dizzy is doing at all times cause once she gets that freeze or knockdown it's VERY hard to swing the momentum back in your favor. Last little footnote: on Rense RPS with her, she's able to flame spear all the followups so when doing your meaty rensen setups, mix in an empty rensen with no cancel so you can claim space when she goes for the flame spear after you rensen her. 5P can also catch the startup of the ice pillar, but just be warned that it's risky: if she starts catching on, she'll start running right at you and 5P does not catch her dash. The one saving grace here is that much like Axl, ASW said she wasn't allowed to have a 6P so as long as you don't over rely on j.S she won't cook you with it too often. Oh and also don't use Whistling Wind except on up close HKDs, she doesn't give a single fuck about your setplay, she can swing through it with Michael Sword or erase it with the flame spear or ice pillar enitrely, you're better off sticking to your standard Axl neutral.

I hate the Dizzy matchup a lot and it isn't very good for Axl, but it's by no means unplayably bad like some other bad Axl MUs - play carefully, pay attention, don't get knocked down, and don't swing without a purpose, and you'll be ok. Good luck fellow Sickle Sibling o7

Hi, hi! I love your demo and it got me inspired to write some stuff myself (not an IF tho, never an IF, I don't have the talent lol) ok, but I was thinking about writing characters that go by two or more pronouns, and I was wondering if maybe you could give me some tips? 🙏

Like, how often do you consider appropiate to switch between pronouns? I know the answers changes depending on the person/character, but I am worried that potential readers might get confused if I switch them too often? On the other hand, I also worry about not mixing them enough.

Well, I should say first of all that there's no such thing as talent, only persistence. But I get you—IF can be a particularly daunting form of writing, and definitely a big commitment. I'm excited to hear you're inspired, though. That's, like, such a compliment. :)

As for the pronouns thing, I don't know that I have a definite answer that's like the Only Correct Way(tm) to do it, because I don't think there is one, but I can provide some tips that should help you get a sense for things!

Firstly: the biggest determiner of how you'll want to do this is the character themself. People can have different ways of relating to different pronouns; some might use different ones at different times, others might use two or more sets completely interchangeably at all times. Some people use one set around like... people they aren't out to, but prefer another with people they trust. Others might just kinda prefer a mix but maybe lean slightly more one way. If the character in question has either a pragmatic (e.g. not queer-friendly relatives) or identity-based reason for preferring some configuration over another, you can use that to help guide how you refer to them, too.

Supposing there's no especially outstanding or skewed balance, though, basically even use is probably a safe bet. No one's gonna like... go through and count (or I certainly hope not; that would be weird), so don't feel like they have to be exactly even or anything.

You might want to help the audience catch onto multiple pronoun use by finding a way to make it really clear that both/all apply to them. As a terrible example:

"Hey is X here yet? I haven't seen him."

"No, they said they were running late. Typical X stuff."

Obviously this example is silly and stilted, but you get the general idea. The key is to disambiguate early—make it clear that both of those pronouns can and do refer to the same person. Another way to do this is to have someone give their pronouns on introduction, or have them on a nametag, etc.

When it comes to mixing in the writing itself, I honestly go by feel, which is not super helpful, I know. I rarely use two different pronouns for the same person in the same sentence, as that can 'feel' weird to me, but sometimes it works! I will fairly often use both in the same paragraph, though. Not mandatory, and you want to avoid falling into a samey rhythm—like just straight alternating.

One trick I use is, for example, when I'm talking about Charon and Pyri at the same time, I might lean a little more towards 'he' for Charon, because Pyri is 'them' and it's easier to keep track of who is being referred to. Then if I'm talking about him in the same place as Hermes, I'm more likely to use 'they' for them. This is also not an 'all the time' thing, but if you're wondering when to switch, "in sentences where it makes the grammar clearer" is definitely a good place to start!

In general, try not to sweat it. Most people I've met who use two or more pronoun sets are fine with whatever combination, as long as no one's actively ignoring one set completely. (That can feel like someone doesn't think of their use as 'legitimate,' which is of course icky to say the least.)

As long as you make sure you're using each at least some of the time, in ways that make sense for the character, you'll be fine!

I find it funny that the summer event has given me two theories. First the Koyanskaya theory with Tamamo and now this next one.

I think that Akuta Hinako is a Servant. Specifically, I think Hinako is Yu Mei-Ren. I mean, Hinako seemed to care about Xiang Yu, and Mei Ren seems to be his girlfriend in the event.

And it wouldn’t be the first time Marisbury got a Servant a job at Chaldea, looking at you, Romani.
