#Inktober #StarshipOblivion Part-30: "As Major Tom hovered above me, ready to deliver the killing blow, his dog leapt on his back and latched its jaws on his arm. "Get off me you worthless mutt!" As he struggled to rip the dog loose I picked up a nearby pipe from the rubble around me and rushed towards the demon as fast as I could. The jagged point of the weapon plunged into his heart and pierced straight through the suit on his back. He sputtered out a mouthful of molten sludge and stumbled backwards, smoke pouring from his eyes. "I...cannot...be killed..." With one final gasp he collapsed: motionless, void of life. I fell to my knees, and caught my breath. Major Tom's dog walked slowly up to me, and sat patiently by my side. I looked up at him carefully, and ultimately admitted, "If it weren't for you, I would've been sliced to pieces. Why did you save me...?" The dog stared at me with milky white eyes, eyes so old they must've seen a history repeat a thousand times over. I was blatantly surprised when he opened his mouth and spoke, "Years ago, you were one of the few who shewed kindness to me, and it was I that broke your chain to help you escape planet Scaarzaak so long ago." He sadly looked at the crumbling corpse of Major Tom, "Foul deeds reap foul consequences-" he then turned to me, a slight twinkle in his eyes, "-just as noble deeds merit noble consequences."
