If we can get a glimpse of how God orchestrates the seemingly insignificant circumstances of our lives on a daily basis, we would feel a great sense of security and peace, knowing that God has everything under control. We would also be struck with a compulsion to become more alert to what God is doing in our lives from moment to moment so that we can cooperate with Him rather than complaining and working against what He is doing. ~ Seeing Interruptions from God's Point of View ~ We often view interruptions as obstacles that are getting in the way of us reaching our goals. In reality, these may be the most important events in our day. These “interruptions” may be the events that God purposed for us before we were born. ~ Outside the Church Walls ~ It is remarkable to realize that most of the significant events in Jesus’ ministry happened outside of the “church” meetings of His day—meetings in the synagogues and meetings in the temple. Could God be trying to tell us something here? If most of the significant events in Jesus’ life and ministry occurred outside of “church meetings,” shouldn't we expect the same to be true in our lives? His life is our model! ~ Preparation Piece 3: Practice ~ It is wonderful to have gifts, but Jesus expects us to do something with the gifts we are given. This is the message of the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14–30. It seems clear that God does not reward us for our gifts. He rewards us for taking the gifts that He has given us and developing them so that we are highly skilled masters at what we do, performing with excellence. To reach this level of skill, we must allow time and opportunity for practice (Hebrews 5:14).
