I did the pink reroot in 2019, and the orange reroot a few days ago. Both of them are thermochromic/color change fibers, with red aspects turning transparent in heat, allowing the light pink and yellow base tones, respectively, to show. It might get hot enough outside tomorrow to activate that (if not tomorrow, then definitely sometime this summer)

I'd had the second Ballerina Barbie head set aside to reroot for years, but I couldn't decide on what hair color. When I realized I had some more color change hair, I thought it would be fun to have this head also have color change hair, even if it's not in colors I normally use like the pinks the other Ballerina Barbie head has. There was just barely enough hair to do this head, with its sparse vintage rooting pattern and big hole (for the crown.) The curls hide a lot. I'm pretty happy with how she turned out.

I wanted to make coordinating outfits for them. I first hoped I had a print that contained both colors of each fiber, to make two different dresses from that fabric, but, no. So I switched to two of the same dress, but different solid fabrics. My initial plan was to put the pink dress on the doll with orange hair, and vice versa, but, once I finished them, I thought they worked better with the coordinating hair colors.

The dress style was inspired by a Momoko-size project in Doll Coordinate Recipe Volume 6, but I used one of my own Barbie-size patterns as the base.

I've tried making her clothes as close to those she was originally inspired from as possible, however with additional details.

Such as the gem that represents her element, the dripping blood from the sword in her back. A crowbar, a bunny nuzzling on her hat, and of course ancestors' sword.

Also she smells like coffee cause her skin was painted with it twice

Here it is on Skelitain't, a bootleg Halloween decoration sold as "Alien Skeleton", that used a slightly altered Monster High Skelita sculpt.

I got this head without a body second-hand a couple years ago; I think she used to be a Cool Blue Barbie. I like the Y2K era Barbie aesthetic and face screenings, and I always found the Cool Colors dolls quite iconic, even though I never had any of them as a kid.

I originally put the head on a MTM body in some random clothing, and kinda forgot her standing on a doll shelf for a while.

I've been sewing a bunch these baggy pants with lots of details and excessive pockets, and I used this flower print fabric this time. The top with the shiny iridescent iron-on foil numbers is something I made a while ago, and it's been rolling around in my box of doll tops ever since. But then, after sewing the pants, I happened to try this combination of clothes on this doll, and she really found herself! I also made her a matching bag.

I think the cutesy flower print and iridescent foil numbers make this doll a bit more toyetic than my usual doll restyle aesthetic, but I think it suits her. I don't have a lot of "basic" blonde Barbies with her "main" face sculpts, because it would get boring quickly, but I think this one can represent the turn-of-millennium era and the Mackie sculpt in my collection.

I've been meaning to make her some clothing that's more of a callback to the original Cool Colors aesthetic too, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I have been working on patterns for overalls, though, and I do have some thin pastel corduroy in my stash...
