a lil bit on Dolorifuge
put a little too much dip on my chip starting with the most art intensive exocolonist oc, but to be fair i thought she'd be my only one. meet the a different one!
when the heliopause lands, she's one of the kids that comes with it. oddly enough, she doesn't stick with the other helios. in fact, the first thing she does is tear the triangle insigma off of her belt and try to integrate with the stratos... as if she were always here. here's my girl Lori, she/her. her known augment is chameleon features (scales thay change color depending on mood, sticky tongue, insectivore diet). a year older than Anenome.
she can sincerely be described as odd but well meaning. she can be found helping out around the med bay and is known for being great at biology. in her free time, she's less of a medic and more of a beautician, always whipping up cosmetics. the roots to that show through her hyperfocus on her own appearance.
she mostly does her own relationship building through offering cosmetics, sometimes accidentally putting her foot in her mouth in doing so. an attempt to give Dys acne treatment comes off as a mockery, and offerings of moisturizer to 'make you less dry and flaky!' can come off the same when said chipper and with a beaming smile. reception depends on the character, but things are kind of distant here. especially because she likes to act like she's been here longer than she has been.
she tries to buddy up with every Stratos kid... except for Marz and Anenome. Sol is no exception to the rule unless they're friends with Vace. in that case, she gives them the same treatment Marz and Anenome get- complete and utter avoidance.
though she tries to be familiar and well liked, most of the stratos kids correctly consider her a tryhard and react accordingly. she seems to have a bad reputation among other helios. Vace, Nomi, and Rex are not close to her.
I'd say creativity and empathy are both important stats to have with her. she loves all things creative- especially when it comes to fashion/makeup expression.
it'd take a lot of heart leveling, but if she were in the game i can imagine the major scenes with Sol would be like this:
1. Sol and Lori meet while she takes a break outside of Engineering (away from Tang, but she is looking at her with interest). she greets Sol like an old friend, and doesn't even offer her name at first. if Sol acts put off, she gets visibly upset and introduces herself before walking away. she'll be a bit reserved if Sol talks to her again after that.
if Sol plays along, she casually drops how everybody keeps getting her name wrong. shouldn't they know that she prefers the name 'Lori' by now? she'll be friendly if they keep talking to her.
2. four hearts in, Sol can overhear/see a few of her failed attempts to offer cosmetics. they can suggest that she offers it to Marz, but Lori will get visibly anxious at the thought of approaching someone 'like that'. they can also offer to use some cosmetics she offers, which will make her light up.
if they're in the engineering building, this heart count could trigger them overhearing a conversation between her and Instance. Instance is scolding her for using too much supplies for something frivolous, and mentions that she expected misbehavior from Lori but that she has to be better. hm...
3. if Sol gets the stressed trait before their adult design (and the four heart event is achieved), she will drag them to the spa. they can either just chill together in there or they can agree to let her guinea pig them again.
if they let her, she'll massage their scalp, face, and hands. she's surpriningly good at this, despite the sticky fingers. they could take this as an opportunity to flirt i GUESS... but she'd laugh it off kind of awkwardly. (not into it.)
this would be a good prompt for a first heart to heart, though. asking why she's doing all this. well, because she considers Sol a friend. to Lori that is precious.
4. Six heart event would be Sol and Lori hanging out in her room. she's feeling pretty sad and just needs somebody. if prompting, she'll admit that she doesn't really know how to handle having somebody around. her parents were pretty absent and 'critical', and the helios... don't like her.
if asked why on the parents end, she'll just say that the way her augment works didn't make her what they wanted. they expected a stealth master, not a girl with color changing hearts on her cheeks. plus, she's just never been good in a fight.
if asked why on the helios end, she winces but decides to tell them. as it turns out, she doesn't have red hair and scales for nothing. she's Vace's ex girlfriend, and it'll be implied that the loose similarities between them is why she avoids Anenome. she's pretty vague on the details of their relationship, but she does say that he spread rumors that she cheated on him after she finally broke up with him. other boys jumped on and said that they'd been with her, and that tanked her reputation with the more shallow of the helios.
if asked why she didn't become friends with Rex she'll say that it'd seem like an admission of guilt if she did. (yikes girl)
additionally, they can ask if this is why Instance seems to think she's a troublemaker. Lori will giggle and shake her head. a hug or an offer to rest her head on their shoulder is greatly appreciated here- she's a physical lover.
