Dominic Da Silva (Ryan Gosling) is looking for siblings.
WANTED CONNECTION: Siblings.
FOR CHARACTER(S): Dominic Da Silva.
REQUIREMENTS: White fc, born after 1984.
SUGGESTED FCS: Lily James, Will Poulter, Elizabeth Lail, Chace Crawford, Nicola Coughlan, William Moseley, utp.
SPOTS OPEN: 3.
CONNECTION DETAILS: The family are originally from Canada (Banff, Alberta to be exact) and were living there until January of 1990. That was when they moved to Merrock. They lived out in the countryside on a farm (their parents still do). That was definitely a big part of the childrens lives growing up and shaped who they became as adults. It’s entirely up to you whether they chose to stay in Merrock or if they moved away upon graduating. The siblings are definitely all very close and that’s something that has never changed.
LAST NOTES: Nothing!
CONTACT: @taetaesuh ; Not neccesary, but always around for any questions or thoughts you might have! I love a bit of brainstorming.
Dominic Da Silva (Ryan Gosling) is looking for an ex high school sweetheart.
WANTED CONNECTION: Ex-High School Sweetheart.
FOR CHARACTER(S): Dominic Da Silva.
REQUIREMENTS: Female born between 1982 and 1983.
SUGGESTED FCS: UTP.
SPOTS OPEN: 1.
CONNECTION DETAILS: They dated for three years, from the age of fifteen to eighteen, breaking up just after prom in the end. They were definitely one of the golden couples of Merrock High School at the time. Their friends had them already married off in their minds and that was hardly surprising considering how much time they spent together, pretty much joined at the hip at all hours of the day (and night a lot of the time during senior year). We can figure out the exact reasons for their break-up together, but I imagine it was a college/distance thing that brought the decision on. I’m open for anything at all in regards to what their relationship is like now, whether they chose to stay in touch or not over the years, whether they’ve seen one another since then or not. Dominic returned to Merrock in 2024 and has no plans to move again.
LAST NOTES: No, nothing else.
CONTACT: @taetaesuh ; Yes please, just so we can make sure we’re on the same page with everything.
arrival to merrock: january 1990, moved away in 2001 and returned again in 2024
housing: suburbs
occupation: business owner & head chef
work place: overlook
family: ex-wife, daughter, son (adopted), mother, father, three siblings relationship status: divorced, single
personality
+ creative, adaptable.
- flighty, impatient.
Dominic can talk a lot. That’s the first thing you need to know. When it comes to him, he cannont stand silence. If it’s not the kids making noise, it’s the dogs, and if they’re not either, he’ll be playing music full blast. He’s been extremely creative and passionate since he was a small child, spending his days in the kitchen with his mother and grandmother or painting pictures of the snowy mountains. He’s moved around a lot over the years, so change has never really bothered him, in fact, you could even say that he welcomes it. Of course, because of that, he doesn’t settle too well and always wants to try and keep things interesting and unpredictable. This is something that frequently comes out within his work as well, often changing menus and keeping people on their toes.

full biography / background
triggering / sensitive content warning: divorce.
Born in Banff, Alberta, Canada, Dominic spent his younger years in the mountains with his siblings learning to ski and playing in the snow. It was idyllic really, the type of childhood many only dreamt of. The freedom he had was unrivalled. He would also help his mother and grandmother out in the kitchen at the family restaurant sometimes, which is where his love for food came from and refused to leave him.
The family relocated to Merrock when he was eight. It felt like a bit of a random move at the time, but he went with it and happily settled in the coastal town. For him, it was a challenge, the type he found himself searching out time and time again. They lived out in the country and he fell in love with nature and horses. He was also taught to grow his own veggies, something that he continues to do to this day and especially now he has the space to, often supplying fresh ingredients from his garden for his restaurant.
All in all, he spent just over ten years in Merrock, from eight to eighteen. He met his first love there, dating from fifteen to eighteen, a relationship he was frequently teased for as it didn’t seem like they were ever going to let one another go. At seventeen it certainly seemed that way, everyone having them lined up for marriage straight after college, with a massive family living on an old farm, surrounded by animals. They broke up straight after prom in the end. His time there definitely shaped him as a person, but eventually he longed to move on and to experience something new. That’s what took him to Boston, studying at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, which is where he stayed for over twenty years.
Following college, he spent years working his way up the ladder before he eventually opened his own restaurant in Boston. Relationships came and went, some serious, some not. There was a guy he was with for nearly four years, who he would have gladly given his life to, but a work opportunity tore them apart and before Dominic knew what was happening, he’d been left alone again.
It was several more years before he met his soon-to-be wife, Candice. A chance meeting at work, she’d been at his restaurant and he’d been greeting the diners, chatting and sharing drinks. It was definitely what some people would call a whirlwind romance, but for him, it was simply a case of meeting the one and not wanting to let her go again. They’d had a fairly casual relationship that was full of love, keeping things open from the start, but for them it seemed to work. They were married within six months and there was a baby on the way within another six. It seemed his life was finally becoming what he’d always wanted.
They settled in Cambridge and a year later he adopted Candice’s son as well. Everything was good. Better than good.
Eventually, things began to sour, something he wasn’t really expecting. He was happy with how things had always been, she wasn’t, and it was then that they began to butt heads a little. When she requested a divorce not long after that, he wasn’t exactly surprised anymore and accepted it without question. So he adapted to a new life, the kids still heavily involved of course, as well as Candice herself. Co-parenting worked well for them both.
The sudden move to Merrock came out of the blue, but having spent over ten years of his life there, with some of his family still living in town, it was pretty much a no-brainer for him. He’d follow Candice and the children there quite happily. It gave his parents more time with their grandchildren as well, so how could it be a bad thing? It took several months for him to find somewhere to work full-time, spending time helping out at a couple of places before finally taking over at Overlook. He’s been working on the place ever since, finding joy in bringing the best out of the stunningly located restaurant. Life’s good again and he’s hoping there aren’t too many surprises in his future.
