oh, and to continue on about btvs, I found this absolute gem on btvs wiki, when they talk about Faith's personality:

"She was later responsible for Xander losing his virginity"

Bwahaha!! OH NO! Faith, you monster, you demon-spawn! Seriously, they really did word it like it was a high crime or something.

It's like the buffy fandom is gaslit by the show writers to such extent that people really do buy into this narrative that Xander is not responsible for anything whatsoever that happens around him.

Also, I'm starting to see such strong parallels between Faith and Azula in how their respective fandoms treat them both. That was not a happy realization.

So im watching teen wolf and just on season 5 and honestly, how everyone is treating Stiles makes me want to forfeit the show.

He does not deserve to be treated how he has been and how everyone believes someone else over him disgusts me.

Makes me kinda think about my life and how somehow I feel like stiles feels. To me he's the most relatable

SU Done Dirty: The Crystal Gems

As per the previous post in this series, the Crystal Gems get way more attention and care than everyone else in the series. Garnet appears least and she speaks in twice as many episodes as Greg, the next most common character.

Do the Crystal Gems get their due? Are they fleshed out as much as their frequency would imply?

Steven: Yes. If you want more detail on Steven, I don’t know what to say.

Pearl: Yes. We get her personality, her history, even hints for her future. It’s easy to see her as a fully developed real person.

Amethyst: Yes. Again, Amethyst comes off as a real person. But there are a few holes the writers could have filled. Amethyst never gets a canonical romantic relationship. They hint at several, but it’s up to the beholder. We also never get an episode about Amethyst’s history between her emergence and meeting the Crystal Gems. (Thanks to Amethyst Twitter for pointing this out.) (Both of them.)

Garnet: No. If you followed my rewatch, you probably saw this coming. 

If you had to describe Garnet without talking about Fusion or Future Vision, you’d be limited to “Quiet, thoughtful, distant, etc.”

What do we know outside of Future Vision and Fusion?

Fusions are supposed to have their own personality, composed of, but separate from, the people that make up the people they’re made of. What are Garnet’s interests? Once Steven is gone, what would she do to pass the time? If you went with her for dinner, what could you talk about? The other Crystal Gems easily pass this test. Garnet requires a lot of inference.

Garnet does something for her own fulfilment and not for a practical purpose twice in the series. She makes a sandcastle with Pearl, and she stargazes before Peridot talks to her about fusion. I may have missed some, but I don’t think so. When she’s presented with an opportunity to tell her story of what she did on her own, Steven tells her story instead.

The idea that Garnet is incapable of being in a romantic relationship because she is a romantic relationship is weird. If fusions are a new person, then that new person should be able to form entirely novel relationships. (I can understand it as an excuse to turn down Jamie and a way to establish that Rupphire is a romantic relationship.)

I want to know what Garnet wants. Are we really supposed to assume that she simply wants to exist? She has herself and her family, and that’s it? Even happy people like doing things.

This isn’t very coherent because I’m trying to figure out what I think about it, I’m open to more thoughts.
