ㅤㅤ ㅤ▶ now playing: what you want - cortis
Dongmin tilted his head as he sat back in his seat, tilting his head. "I liked the last suit better." He had brought the other shopping, needing to get them an outfit that was up to his standards. He had a party he had to go to and he wanted to bring some arm candy. "What about you? Do you have a preference?" Truthfully he could easily afford both of them and he was more than willing to spend as much as he needed to make them happy. He had promised them a reward for going along with him after all. He was sure they'd ask for something over the top, if for no other reason than to annoy him.

“This feels way too romantic.” you said as you looked at the picnic towel on the grass with strawberries, chocolate, wine, pink lemonade and bread. You turned to look at Dongmin with a confused expression and saw that Dongmin was looking nervous.
He quickly messed up the food’s placement, trying to make it look less romantic. “I swear I’m not trying to make this a date. I just thought that it would be nice to have a picnic at night because I know you like to stargaze and…”
“How do you know I like to stargaze?”
Dongmin froze and looked at you. He bit his lower lip and opened his mouth to speak, but closed it right away, pressing his lips together before opening his mouth once again. “One day at school the teacher asked what we like to do when we’re feeling down and you said you like to stargaze because it gives you peace of mind and you tweet about it from time to time,” he chuckled awkwardly and shortly. “I just remember things, y’know?”
Even if you tried, you couldn’t hide the smile forming on your lips. You didn’t even remember saying that in class, but Dongmin did. And you were grateful he did.
“Yeah, you just remember things,” you sat up and patted the grass beside you, silently asking him to sit next to you. “Thank you for remembering it. I see you also remembered that pink lemonade is my favorite drink.”
Dongmin smiled shyly and sat down next to you, already reaching out for the pink lemonade and pouring it on a plastic cup for you. “I remember a lot of things, Y/N.”
You chuckled and nodded before grabbing a piece of bread and taking a bite of it. Dongmin handed the pink lemonade to you and you took it. “This is making me feel bad, actually. You know so many things about me and I barely know things about you.”
“You’ll get to know me eventually. It’s not that easy to know things about me, at least not as easy as it is to know about you. You’re very extroverted and like to talk about your interests, but not in a way that you’re viewed as self centered.”
“You really think so?” You smiled faintly and Dongmin nodded before grabbing a strawberry and eating it. “Yeah, I really think so.”
Your cheeks heated up and you felt your heart beat a little bit faster. “Well, then tell me more about you.”
You and Dongmin talked for a really long time, but it felt like minutes. He told you about everything you asked him, he told you about when he found out his passion for music, when he started to write songs, the things that he loves and that he hates.
While he was talking about a trip he went to with his family when he was a kid, he opened the bottle of wine and poured a cup of it to himself. Your eyes landed at his arms and his veins were popping out, you pressed your lips together and tried to look away, but it seemed impossible. To try to calm your nerves down, you reached out for your drink, but when you took a sip, you ended up spilling it on your jacket. “Shit.”
Dongmin looked at you and at your jacket that at the moment had a pink spot and started to laugh hard, his fist hiding his smile. You looked up at him and started to laugh as well.
“Don’t laugh at me! My jacket is white, I ruined it!” You said mid laugh, but taking aim at him laughing so hard, yet hiding his smile, made your laugh falter and suddenly you had forgotten about your dirty jacket. Your hand found Dongmin’s wrist and slowly lowered it, making his fist stop covering his mouth.
Dongmin stopped laughing and looked at you with furrowed brows, not quite understanding why you were lowering his hand out of nowhere, but the butterflies on his stomach were definitely there.
“Why do you hide your smile? I think it’s so pretty.”
Dongmin’s eyes were wide open as he choked on his own saliva. “T-thanks…”
You kept looking intently at him while he fought demons to maintain eye contact with you. When you finally realized what you were doing you cleared your throat and chuckled. “You shouldn’t hide your smile, that’s all… Anyways, it’s getting late, so we should probably get going, right?”
“Ah,” he nodded and flashed you a sad smile. “Yes, let’s go. I’ll walk you to your dorm.”
