donny's-boy replied to your post: It’s a nice cover! She’s got a set of pipes on her! Her singing voice is so different than the speaking voice she uses in Sam & Cat, wow.
I know, right?! I get so used to her voice in Sam and Cat and every time I hear her talk normally or sing it always throws me off for a second before I go back to enjoying every minute of it
So while on the Nick site looking for some TMNT videos, I saw "Sam & Cat" on the sidebar and decided to watch an ep. It was the "#DollSitting" ep, and there was Hannibal Lecter? And an evil living doll? And a robot? And monkeys? And WHAT the HECK? (I've got nothing but respect for Sam slapping that rude boy in the face with a hotdog, though. Also, I totes ship Sam and Cat, because they're madly in love, obvi.)
Wow I feel so bad this was sitting in here for days and I never saw it… Yeah, the Halloween episode was 100% chaos but all in all Sam was pretty badass (as usual) and her dressed as Cat was pure perfection. And there were plenty of cute Puckentine moments to go around because yes, they are madly in love.

Woo! Congrats! And, y’know, I’ve been out of school for years now, and I’m still trying to answer that question.
Harrumph! I thought grown-ups were supposed to be clever and wise. What's the point in knowing older people if they haven't already solved all my personal problems?
Gilda frowned down at the small egg held between her talons. It was odd to be able to hold an egg in just one hand, and some part of her felt almost repulsed as she gazed down at it. It was too small, she decided. It was too small and too fragile and too white.
A loud cracking noise came from across the kitchen, and Gilda cringed. Just like she had every time Pinkie had smashed open an egg.
“How’s your cake coming along?”
“Baking sucks. If I knew you were gonna make me bake with you, I would have said I didn’t want any cake.”
“Aww, that’s just because there’s no music! I’m sure if we sang a song everything would go a lot faster and you’d have a lot of--”
“Yeah, okay, about that.” Gilda turned around, resting her elbows on the counter behind her. She waited until Pinkie Pie had turned around, broken eggshell still held between her hooves, before she raised an eyebrow. “What’s the deal with ponies singin’ all the time, anyway? It’s weird. Griffons don’t do that.”
Gilda shrugged, trying to look nonchalant even as Pinkie’s horrified stare made the feather along the back of her neck stand up a little.
“I mean, not all the time. Not just because it’s, y’know, Tuesday or some dumb reason like that.” Gilda turned back towards her own mixing bowl. She set down the egg on the counter, gently, carefully, then picked up a wooden spoon. “Griffons only sing for cool reasons.”
“Like what?”
Gilda hesitated. Nopony had ever asked her that before, and it wasn’t something she’d ever told before, either. Not even to Rainbow Dash. She wasn’t sure she wanted to tell, to be honest, and yet Pinkie had sounded genuinely curious. Had sounded like she was actually interested in something Gilda had to say.
Not for the first time, Gilda found herself regretting coming back to Ponyville to try for some lame-brained, pie in the sky redemption. But here she was, stuck with the world’s most annoying pony, in a bakery almost suffocating her with the thick scent of sugar.
It couldn’t make things worse to answer Pinkie’s question. Probably.
“Griffons sing before war,” Gilda said in as cool and detached a voice as possible, as she stirred her bowl of cake batter. “War chants and stuff like that. Helps the warriors get the adrenaline going before battle.”
“Oooh!”
Almost despite herself, Gilda chuckled. “Traditionally, that’s what griffons sing songs for, anyway. But there hasn’t been many wars since the big treaty with Equestria, so now most of those songs are sung before big sports competitions.” Thoughtfully she frowned. “Those are only once a year, tops, though.”
“Oh. That’s kind of sad.” Pinkie giggled a bit. “The part about not singing, I mean! Not the part about there not being wars!”
Gilda rolled her eyes as she glanced over her shoulder. Pinkie had gone back to her own mixing bowl, however, and couldn’t see, so Gilda glared a bit at the pony’s turned back. Just on general principle. Then, sighing again, she went back to her own bowl.
Damn, she hoped these cakes turned out as good as the ones at that welcoming party. For Pinkie Pie’s sake, anyway, they’d better be.
Silence reigned in the kitchen for all of ten seconds before Pinkie piped up again. “Do you wanna sing a griffon song, then?”
Gilda opened her beak to say no. She wanted to say no. She wanted to laugh right in Pinkie’s face or maybe just scream and storm out. As if a pony--and not just any pony, but a pony like Pinkie Pie--could be worthy of singing a griffon song. The very idea was contemptible.
But the word “no” stuck in Gilda’s craw. It lodged itself in her throat, like a stubborn bit of gristle, and she couldn’t speak. She stood at that stupid counter in that stupid bakery, and suddenly all she could think about was the way Pinkie refused to leave her alone. First with that disastrous “Welcome to Ponyville” party, then after Gilda’s attempt to make up with Dash fell apart, and now … and now, with whatever all this was.
It took a certain something to keep pestering someone like. Something really annoying and really dumb, true, but maybe something really brave, too.
“If I teach you a song,” Gilda heard herself say, “will you shut up and leave me alone?”
Pinkie let out a cheer. Against her better judgment, Gilda decided to take that for a “yes.”
Obscure Comments
Y'know for having shown up twice in major roles now, we really don't know a whole lot about griffons, now that I think about it. I'm really glad someone chose to address that for this prompt! Gilda is a pretty easy vantage point because she's so different from the ponies anyway, so it winds up being pretty interesting! Good job!

Uh, where has this dude BEEN? People been marching in the streets for a long time now. Not so much with the church burning because, you know, ARSON and also POTENTIAL MURDER.
I'm ... not sure? I mean, yes, the Auckland Pride Parade vanished for twelve years because of financial difficulties, but it's back now. And it's not like that's the only source of marching-in-streets, by any means.
He also suggested, in the brief time I listened, that the reason this happened was because the government cares about votes (apparently a bad thing?) and also because our only say in government was the elections every three years. If only we voted more often the government would be able to ignore our votes? I guess?
donnys-boy replied to your post: Noone warned me about Cecil’s voice. Cecil’s...
Ha ha ha! Isn’t it something? ALSO, DO YOU SHIP CECIL AND CARLOS YET?
Two episodes deep, I can't say I do. Not even one-sided -- I mean, certainly Cecil is crushing on that "perfect hair", but pitted against everything else that's going on it's just not enough for feels, y'know?
Alas, the present need for sleep and uncertain familial plans for the weekend mean it might be many days before I get to listen to more. :(
The pig and the pony faced each other on the rooftops. Lightning flashed, and thunder rolled.
“You see, you cannot stop me, Donny. Ponyville will know the wrath of Professor Piggy!” The pig himself was, well, he was a pig. A little diminutive in stature, perhaps, but that had never stopped anypony, or anypig, before. The cape fastened around the pig’s neck only served to enhance his majesty and presence.
“No, Piggy. I will stop you,” said Donny in reply, “And I will save Ponyville from your dastardly schemes and plots.” The pony facing off against the pig was a green earth pony, with a purple mane and a short goatee. A cutie mark of a pink quill with several ink drops flying off it adorned his flank. Another bolt of lightning tore itself from the dark clouds above, and the loud boom of thunder followed in its wake.
For a while longer, the two mortal enemies simply stared at one another, as if engaging in a mighty battle of willpower using only their eyes. Had anypony else been asked to describe their thoughts on the battle, they probably would have thought that the two nemeses would engage in deadly combat, with each so perfectly matched that neither would get the upper hoof as they did glorious, awesome battle.
“Curse you, my nemesis. You have defeated me once more,” said the pig, and Donny just rolled his eyes.
Overhead, a blue pegasus shoved his head through the cloud bank to look down at the pony and the pig.
“Hey, are you guys done with your thing down there? I had to bribe half the weather patrol to get this storm for you. Dramatic weather effects don’t come cheap.”
“Yeah, we’re done. You can get rid of the storm now,” called Donny, and the pegasus retracted his head back through the cloudbank so he could begin dissipating it.
*****TIME*****
“But why, Donny? Why do you always prevail?” muttered Piggy, as rays of sunlight began to break through the dark clouds.
“Aside from the fact that I’m a foot taller than you? Ponies like happy endings, Piggy. They want to see the champion get the mare. Sure, angst can be useful, but without the makeouts at the end of the story, it’s just a big stick with no cupcake at the end,” explained Donny.
Krizak Comments!
Heehee, the image of Donny just holding Piggy at foreleg's length as the villain flails ineffectively is too funny. I loved that Donny and Piggy actually requested the dramatic weather for their duel (and was that an author cameo I spotted in there?), and there were so many little bits that tickled me, like Piggy's warcry or Donny explaining his 'angst followed by makeouts' philosophy as was explored in a previous prompt.
