A/n: it’s not the best, but it’s been sitting in my drafts for months lol
You weren’t too sure what to expect when you knocked on Wanda’s door. You already knew she was expecting you, but as you knocked on the door, you couldn’t help but get nervous. Despite having all the evidence needed to clear your name, you didn’t know how Wanda would react – if she’d even believe you. This was the most upset you’ve ever seen her, she ignored you when she left the community center and didn’t even wait for you in the parking lot so you could drive to her house together.
What really set shivers down your spine was the text you received from Natasha, telling you to fix this issue with Wanda before she takes matters into her own hands. Natasha was very protective over Wanda, as she stood by her side through the highs and lows of her relationship with Vision. You tried to explain that her sister was the mastermind before this, but she just left you on read. Not the best sign, especially if it is any reflection of what’s to come for your conversation with Wanda.
She opens the door, not even bothering to look as she turns back inside. She walks back towards her couch, crossing her arms and giving you an expectant look when you enter the room. You sat on the couch, looking up at Wanda as you waited for her next move. You couldn’t help but feel like a child about to be scolded at this moment. It would be a funny memory to bring up in the future IF you can save your relationship. You silently curse Yelena as Wanda sits on the completely opposite side of the couch.
“Wanda, I-”
“Before you start, I just wanted to say something to you” she interrupts, causing you to look at her in surprise. “It’s something I’ve been thinking about since we decided to give this a chance, and everything that happened today kinda put it all in perspective” The moment those words left her mouth, your heart started to ache. This was not the direction you were hoping this conversation would go. You start to protest, but she silences you with one firm look.
“I don’t want you to interrupt me. I don’t think I will be able to get it all out if you do. Please” she finishes off her plea with a cracked voice. You give her a look, silently promising to keep your word.
“From the moment we met, I knew you were special. I had no idea that it would be anything beyond a friendship, and I definitely did not believe that it would progress as fast as it did. Honestly, I’ve never been happier and I’m so thankful to you because I never thought I’d get to experience it again” Her eyes start to water, as she smiles. “I don’t have much experience when it comes to relationships or friends. Vision was my first for everything after I moved here, and he was supposed to be my last…until he wasn’t. I know what happens when things move too fast and you lose parts of who you are because you’re so desperate to keep it from falling apart. And I’m so scared of that happening to us, and having to lose you because of it” She shifts her focus to her hands as more tears start to fall from her eyes. You move towards her, grabbing her hands before she can start picking (a habit you’ve discovered in the months you’ve been dating).
“After the divorce, I thought I was done with relationships altogether. I believed I was too broken to ever have that chance again. Until you came along. I’ve never had this, something that feels so balanced and healthy. Everything is so new to me, these feelings are so new to me. I just want to let it consume me; to just keep you close and never let go. But that wouldn’t be fair to you” Wanda pulls away. “I don’t want to force you into something you’re not ready for. I know that we decided to take things slow so It wasn’t fair of me to get so upset about someone buying you flowers. You should be allowed to keep your options open, especially with all of the baggage I have. It’s probably better that you figure it out now, rather than later” Wanda ends, giving you a strained smile.
“Am I allowed to speak now?” you ask.
“Yes”
“I understand what you have said, about not wanting things to move too fast and it ultimately leading to the downfall of our relationship. I have the same fears too, but I would NEVER treat you the way Vision did. I don’t see you as broken. I see you as a strong, loving woman and mother. Someone who’s continued to push forward despite everything life has thrown her way. Someone that I find myself falling for (and over) ever since we met. Yeah, it may be too soon for me to be saying these things but it’s hard not to when you’ve met someone this perfect. I can’t even explain how deep my feelings go, but I just want you to know that you aren’t alone in this. And you will never be again if you’ll allow me to stay by your side. I don’t want to ‘keep my options open’ when I have the best thing in front of me. You are all I want, I promise you. Despite everything that’s happened in the past, and we have no idea where things will go in the future, as long as you’re the only constant in my life I don’t care what happens” You move closer to Wanda, bringing your hand up to wipe her tears.
“I know you’ve been told so many empty promises, but I want to prove it to you” She brings her hand up to cover yours. She nods her head, tears filling her eyes again but this time was different. They were tears of relief and security.
“And the first step to our future, is this” Using your other hand, you pull out the receipts from your pocket. It wasn’t as smooth as you thought it would be, but you held it out for Wanda to take. You watch as she reads the papers and the moment it all clicks in her head. Wanda crumples the papers and throws her body into your arms.
“I’m going to kill her” her voice muffled by your body.
“You and me both” wrapping your arms around her and holding her tightly against you. Honestly, you weren’t that upset with Yelena anymore in that moment, you were just happy you got to hold Wanda again. The crisis was averted and you just wanted to revel in the moment. Tomorrow you could think of revenge.
“Wanda, I’ve already shown you the receipt, why are you still angry with me?” you whine.
Wanda glances between you and the receipt on her table, a frown settled on her face.
And I mean a lot of groveling.
“You’re the best thing to ever happen to me Wanda, I would never want to jeopardize that.” You say wrapping your arms around Wanda tightly, pulling her into you as you fall back onto her couch. Wanda stays still, relishing in the warmth of your body for a moment before pulling away. You think she’s going to stand up and leave, a pout instantly making its way onto your lips, but to your surprise - she straddles your lap.
“I trust you and I believe you about Yelena being behind this” she leans down, close to your ear before continuing. “I just don’t like the idea of anyone buying you flowers” Pulling away to look you in the eyes, you see hers have darkened. Leaning forward you try to kiss her but she backs up. Her hand pushes on your chest until you're lying flat against the cushions again.
“I think you need to be reminded who you belong to” Grabbing your hand she pins them above your head. She grabs your neck, tilting it to the side before pressing a kiss against your pulse point.
“And no touching until I’m done,” she says, before diving into your neck and marking her territory. You couldn’t help but think that this is what Yelena meant when she said Wanda was going to destroy you. Wanda doesn’t give your mind much time to think about anything else as she draws moans from your throat, only motivating her to go harder.
After practically completely covering your neck, Wanda pulls away with a satisfied look.
“You know that I’m yours, right?” She grabs your hands leading them to her hips. She smiles at how responsive you are, your hands slightly lowering and gripping her tight, as you nod your head eagerly. She leans down again, this time hovering over your lips.
“Then prove it to me”
And so you did until any remaining doubts plaguing Wanda’s mind faded along with her consciousness as she lay against your chest that night. You kiss her head, as you think of how your next conversation with Yelena will go. Even though you ended up enjoying the outcome, if it wasn’t for the receipts, you don’t even think you’d still be in a relationship. Deciding this is something you’d have to deal with tomorrow, you pull Wanda into you
Summary: After a breakup, you decide to pack up your life and move to Westview. A coworker recommends you join the local community's cooking class in order to settle into the new town. It sounded like a great idea, you could learn a new skill (that you desperately need) and meet new people. However, nothing could have prepared you for the green-eyed beauty you met during class. Maybe you'll end up leaving the class with more than just a basic understanding of cooking.

Part 2
—
Moving to a new town was never easy, especially immediately after a breakup, but it was a decision you decided to make. After being in a long-term relationship, you felt like you needed a fresh start and needed to find yourself again. It wasn’t the fault of your ex and you honestly didn’t notice at the time, but you slowly started to feel like you were drowning in the relationship. The wants and interests you had before started to fade over time in favor of the things that your ex wanted or what felt like the right moves for the relationship.
And that is how you ended up here, at the local community center’s cooking class. Since moving to Westview, you have been ordering takeout every day and while the restaurants around had delicious food, your wallet could no longer handle the late-night food extravaganzas. You couldn’t blame your past relationship for your lack of skills in the kitchen, so joining this class felt like a natural progression. A coworker recommended you check it out and you decided it was a good idea, plus it was a great way to meet new people in town.
As you walk into the room, you started looking around. There are 6 workstations, split into three rows with a much larger station at the front. Each station had a large amount of counter space with a sink at the end. You could see two small stools underneath each station. As you walk further into the room you observe a small group conversing near the front. You sit behind the farthest station, silently praying you aren’t taking someone's assigned spot. The longer you sit the more anxious you start to become. Everything is starting to hit you at once, all the decisions leading up to this moment.
Deciding to come here alone without knowing anyone else in Westview, besides your coworkers. What were you thinking? ‘Maybe it should have been better to come next month when you were more settled or at least able to bring someone with you’. Sitting here alone like the new kid in the class was bringing back unpleasant memories you wanted to forget. ‘Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to wait a little longer, you could even pick up the ingredients for sandwiches on the way home and just live off of that until then. Yeah, that actually sounds like a great plan’ you rationalize in your head. Coming to a decision, you rush towards the door, hoping you aren’t drawing any attention. Just as you were about to reach your final destination, you feel yourself crash into something...
More like someone.
“I’m so sorry” you rush out, extending your hand to the person you practically tackled. “I was not looking where I was going and-”
“Hey, I’m okay and it was an accident. I get it” they say while taking your hand. As you pull them up, you decide to get a good look at the person you knocked down.
Instantly you were mesmerized by green eyes.
Your heart immediately starts to race as you see her tuck the brown hair messily covering her face behind her ear. Your focus shifts to her lips, as her mouth, starts to move again, and you nod along lazily despite having no idea what she was saying. She eventually settles on a smile, and you feel your mouth forming into one as well when you look back into her eyes. She is looking at you expectantly, immediately snapping you out of the spell you were under. You felt embarrassment rush through your body as you thought of how long you’d spent looking at her without saying anything.
“Uhhh, I’m sorry. Could you repeat that again?” You say shyly, slightly diverting your eyes, knowing you would get lost the minute you looked back at hers.
“I said I haven’t seen you here before, are you new to town?” She repeats, with the same smile from before as she awaits your response.
“Yeah, I just moved here about a month ago for work. One of my coworkers had actually recommended this class to me and I thought it’d be a good idea to check it out. I’m hoping that by the end of it, my kitchen will actually look like someone uses it” you say jokingly, wanting to end your nervous ramble.
“I hope you are settling in well” she says. She turns her body to face the group that you originally saw when you first arrived. She smiles again. “This may be a small town, but everyone is welcoming. I don’t think you’ll have much trouble fitting in”.
Looking at her eyes, you can see how proud she felt about her fellow townspeople. As you follow her gaze, you can understand why. The group continues to converse animatedly before breaking out in laughter. You begin to feel more at ease, realizing this situation isn’t as intimidating as you had thought. You could do this. Feeling a new burst of confidence you turn back to the woman.
“I know we just met and I kind of ran you over, but would you… maybe want to sit next to me for class today?” You say, confidence slightly wavering as you finished the question. You quickly continue, before she could respond. “I mean, I don’t even know your name yet, but you’ve helped me feel more comfortable here than anyone else” you finish weakly, looking down at your hands. You can feel yourself being pulled into your thoughts as you start second-guessing the decision of asking her.
“Hey,” the woman says softly, interrupting the internal turmoil you were beginning to feel trapped in. You suddenly feel soft hands grabbing yours, only then do you realize they were slightly shaking. “Everything is okay, you haven’t done anything wrong,” she says as if she could instantly read where your mind had gone. “Just breathe for me, okay?” she asks softly. Looking back up and meeting her eyes, you a deep breath, following her request. She squeezes your hands after sensing you were much calmer than you were a moment ago.
“Feeling better?” she asks, with a small smile.
“Yeah, much better” You reply, smiling back. “Thanks”.
“No problem… and now is the perfect time to introduce ourselves,” she says jokingly, you laugh alone welcoming the change in topic. “I’m Wanda and you are…?” grinning as she awaits your response.
“Y/n,” you say, mimicking the grin on her face before continuing again. “And thank you again, Wanda. I’ve been a bit of a mess since I’ve been here, that’s kinda why I ran into you before. It’s been a long day” you confess, taking a long breath.
“It’s okay, I can understand how overwhelming it can feel moving to a new place. I remember what it was like when I first moved here. I wasn’t any better” she says, with a far-off look in her eyes. “But it gets easier.”
Before you could respond, you see her eyes widen as she looks at the clock. “Class should be starting soon” she rushes out. “But to answer your question from before, I-”
“Well, if it isn’t my favorite new hire,” a voice with a familiar Russian accent, effectively cutting Wanda off before she could answer. Before you could turn around to see who had graciously interrupted your conversation, an arm is thrown across your shoulders. Your body jumps in surprise. Turning your head, you instantly recognize the intruder. The one and only, Yelena Belova, aka the only coworker you’ve gotten close to since moving to Westview.
“You look surprised to see me here, did you honestly think I’d recommend this place and leave you by yourself?” she says, looking offended. The shocked look on your face instantly morphs into a smile, relief flooding your body.
“I should have known you would be here” you admit. It’s never been easy for you to make friends so when you began working you had already prepared yourself for a lonely 2-3 months until you felt more comfortable. Yelena had been the one to approach you first and despite being much louder than expected, you wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. If there was anything you learned about Yelena, it was that she was persistent.
Quickly she was able to worm her way into your daily routine by joining you on your lunch breaks. You bonded over your shared lack of skills in the kitchen, though Yelena would argue her Mac & Cheese recipe would say otherwise. Soon lunch breaks within the break room turned into excursions as you two unknowingly began eating out at every restaurant in town for lunch. Despite spending so much time together, you didn’t know if she had actually seen you as a true friend outside of work. You were more than okay with just having her as a work friend, but seeing her now just proves that your friendship was much stronger than you had originally thought.
Turning your body around, you wrap your hands around her back and pull her into a hug. She slowly wraps her other arm around your shoulder, before giving you awkward pats on your back. “You did not just do that,” You say pushing her away, laughing. “I know you like me better than that Belova” poking her cheeks and smiling sweetly, knowing you’d get the perfect reaction out of her.
“HEYY-” Yelena begins to yell but you quickly cover your hand over her mouth, not wanting to draw the attention of everyone in the room.
“Don’t you dare start yelling in here” you say lowly while looking into her eyes, starting to regret the decision of even messing with her in the first place. There’s a silent agreement between you two as you nod and remove your hand from over her mouth. The moment of silence was interrupted by a soft giggle. Looking at the source of the sound, you both turn back to Wanda. Her face is slightly turned down and she has her hand over her mouth trying to silence the laughs that desperately want to come out.
“It’s good to see you again Yelena” Wanda gets out after taking a breath, face still slightly red from laughing.
“Likewise, it’s been a while” Yelena replies.
“Okay well if you two are done here class is going to start,” Wanda says while looking between you two. Her eyes settle back on you and she smiles. “I think you’ll be just fine today” she finishes, before walking away.
“Let’s go Y/n, we have to get to our station ” Yelena says pulling you to the nearest empty station.
“But I had already asked Wanda to -” you began telling Yelena but a clap from the front cuts you off.
“Okay, everyone. I hope you all are settled. For this class, we are going to be making a classic, Chicken Pot Pie” the instructor says, enthusiastically. To say you were shocked would be an understatement, but it’s not from choice in food. As you look to the front of the room, you make eye contact with the instructor and they smile.
Wanda smiles at you.
Wanda is the instructor.
Wanda, the woman who you practically tackled in the process of trying to leave before the class started. The woman who you had a nervous breakdown in front of after asking her to be your partner. You groan, bending your head in embarrassment as you replay every interaction you’ve had with her since being here.
“Before we begin, as some of you may have noticed, we have a new face in town. Everyone meet Y/n” Wanda says.
Suddenly you could feel all the eyes in the room on you, knowing it didn’t take long to figure out that you were the new person. You awkwardly raise your hand and wave, praying your face isn’t making any weird expressions. Judging by the loud laugh heard from beside you, you know for certain that it definitely was not a pleasant look.
Yelena tries to cover her laugh with a cough “Don’t mind my friend here, she’s a little nervous. But very excited to get started today. We shouldn’t keep the newbie waiting, right Wanda?”. It was definitely an attempt to shift people’s attention away from you and it appears to have worked as Wanda nods.
“Let’s get started” Wanda says firmly, commanding the attention back to the front once more.
You sigh to yourself. This was going to be a long class.

How to Know You’ve Found the One
Waking up the next morning, you couldn’t help but reread the text on your phone with a smile. You haven’t been this happy in the morning in a while, and you knew it could only mean one thing - but you weren’t ready to admit it yet. It was no secret that you had the tendency to fall hard and fast. You were a hopeless romantic and led with your heart. Many people said they’d admire that trait about you and gushed how more people should be this way - before later going on to break yours. You’ve dealt with a lot of heartbreak, with your last relationship being the last straw. There were things you knew that you needed to work on - boundaries you needed to set within yourself - to ensure that your future relationships wouldn’t end like the last.
So you wrote it all in a letter. Detailing your hopes and dreams for the future, but most importantly being brutally honest about the patterns you tend to follow when falling for someone, despite wanting to break out of it. No matter how much you liked Wanda you didn’t want to fall into old habits. Not that anything would be happening anytime soon between you two - based on last night, Wanda is going through a lot more than she’s letting on. It was way too early to even think about getting into a relationship right now - considering you just met - but you couldn’t help but feel your heart race at the thought.
Dear Y/n,
If you’re reading this then you’ve found yourself with a bit of a crush. Who am I kidding, you must be really down bad if you’re reading this now. There’s no need to panic, who better to help you navigate during this challenging time than you from the past. I’ll make this nice and easy, but the first step is to breathe. You don’t have to fight it, It’s okay to enjoy this feeling - the rush. Just don’t let it consume you. You don’t always have to be the one to initiate things. Allow yourself to take the backseat this time and let them set the pace.
Deciding to live by your words, you prepared for your day. You could do this, and maybe this was the best thing for your situation. You would be a fool to deny the connection you had made yesterday, but you could tell that Wanda was clearly going through something right now. You didn’t want to push her into anything she wasn’t ready for or worse, do something that causes her to push you away. You were willing to let her set the pace, and if friendship was what she needed now, then you’ll do just that. Sending Wanda a simple good morning text, you set off for work and for the first time since moving to Westview, you felt excited for the day ahead.
___
To say that Yelena was surprised to see your smiling face as you walked into work today would be an understatement. Usually, it would take you at least two coffees and a meal to draw a genuine smile from your face during the workday.
“Someone looks happy, would you like to share with the class?” Yelena looks intrigued as to what has you in such a good mood today.
You try to hide your smile as you look away. You contemplated revealing everything that happened after class yesterday. You would love to have someone to confide in but you had to stop yourself. It was too early to say anything now and considering the circumstances you felt like you’d be breaking Wanda’s trust by discussing the more intimate details (aka Wanda breaking down). It definitely wouldn’t be a good start to a friendship, and if you planned on getting closer you’d need Wanda to have faith that you wouldn’t go gossiping about her private life (even if it is with your best friend).
“Can’t I just be happy to see my best friend today?” you say hoping she buys it. Who's to say you weren’t happy to see Yelena today?
“If this is your attempt at trying to suck up to me after yesterday, then you seriously need better material” she looks at you skeptically, clearly not buying it. “Plus, I forgave you after you gave me our precious creation, it was delicious”
“Actually, I don’t remember there ever being any sort of discussion regarding the pot pie. Just you saying goodbye before quickly running out of the building carrying a suspicious container” you recount your last memories of seeing Yelena. “But if it went to a good cause, who am I to question anything. I’m just happy it’s allowed you to spice up your usual diet”.
“Hey, don’t try to change the subject. What’s up with you today?” Yelena rolls her eyes not liking your last comment or your attempts to dodge her questions.
“It’s seriously nothing” you reply, not wanting to admit the truth of what has you feeling good today. “Can’t I have some mystery to my life?”.
“No” Yelena looks at you like you’ve grown another head. “It’s a girl, isn’t it?” she asks bluntly.
Your eyes widen and a light blush dusts your cheeks. It’s embarrassing how well she knows you.
“Really? I’m happy for you Y/n, she must really be special if she has you like this” Yelena was genuinely happy for you, knowing how hard it’s been for you to make any sort of connection since you’ve been here. “So, tell me about her”
And here comes the hard part. You needed to go about this smartly, Yelena must not - under any circumstances - know the identity of the woman who’s stolen your heart. You needed to be cool and nonchalant about this.
“She’s perfect” you immediately gush. “I’ve never had this feeling before about anyone this quickly, I mean I barely know her. I don’t think anything is going to be happening between us anytime soon though so you cannot say anything.” you ramble. Definitely, way too much information that you planned on divulging to her.
“Don’t worry I won’t. But if you’re saying this then it must be someone I know” she’s piecing this together much faster than you hoped. “Hmmm…Do you want to tell me or should I try to guess who it is?” she has her hand on her chin as if a detective on their latest case.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea” you start but she’s showing no signs of stopping. Shifting your eyes nervously, you look at your cup of coffee and blurt the first name that comes to mind
“Sharon”
“Huh, as in the barista?” she never would have guessed that you would be into Sharon Carter, based on how shallow your conversations have been so far. When did you even get her number, you literally only talk about coffee when you’re in the coffee shop she works at. “I was gonna say, Wanda, I mean you could practically smell the tension between you,” she admits, starting to feel less confident about her answer after your revelation. How could she have missed this supposed connection you had with Sharon?
“Pshhh, you must be seeing things,” you say as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “I don’t even think Wanda likes me that way anyways,” you say sadly, staring blankly at your computer.
“Sure whatever you say Y/n, but you’re an idiot if you don’t see the way Wanda looks at you” she doesn’t say anything further, and you were thankful for that. You began to dwell on her words - it couldn’t possibly be true. You didn’t know why you were psyching yourself out, I mean, this is the best possible scenario. Yet, something inside is preventing you from fully believing it - a part of you that knows that once you get your hopes up it would only end in disappointment.
I know it may make you feel anxious or insecure, causing you to question whether the connection you felt was real (and reciprocated). And, I’m not gonna lie it’s gonna be difficult, giving up some control of the situation and letting the fates decide, but I promise you it’s worth it. Let them prove to you that they can make an effort. You need to recognize that the progression of a relationship isn’t dependent on one person. And when the time finally comes, and you receive that one sign that confirms the feelings between you is mutual, it’s the best feeling in the world.
Wanda :
Hey, sorry I’ve been pretty busy today. Will you be free this Friday to meet up? I want to see you again.
—
It’s been three days since you received Wanda’s text and now it was finally the day you’ve been waiting for, Friday. Sitting in the coffee shop, you’re nervously awaiting Wanda’s arrival. You may or may not have come 30 minutes earlier than the agreed-upon time. You take a deep breath and try to remind yourself to stay calm. I mean it was only your first time hanging out with Wanda outside of class. You simply needed to look at this situation as two friends hanging out and not a date.
It was about another 15 minutes before you saw a brunette walk through the door. She anxiously looked around the shop, trying to find an empty seat before making eye contact with you. She seems surprised to see you before relief floods her face. She immediately walks over to you, with a smile.
It’s too early to decide anything yet, but take notice of everything. Are they always late when you arrange to spend time together? When they first see you, is this their first instinct to smile or grimace? Consider this moment, the official first impression - it will be the deciding factor in if this moves forward.
“Hey, I wasn’t expecting to see you here so early” she greets you nervously. “I hope you weren’t waiting too long”.
“Hey Wanda, you didn’t I just got here a minute ago, don’t worry” you greet her, the small lie slipping past your lips with confidence. She looks at the table, noticing you’ve already ordered a medium coffee and two bagels.
“And you just so happened to order all of that and it arrived half-eaten?” she asks knowingly, having to suppress her giggle. “The service here must really suck”.
“It’s not too bad” you scratch your neck, knowing you’ve been caught. “I would love to buy you something though, from the uneaten side of the menu” you rush out, desperately wanting to change the subject.
“Smooth” she teases. “I’ll take a Jasmine tea and a muffin”
You quickly stand up from your seat and go to the cashier to order. You even surprised Wanda with how quick you were but the look was quickly replaced with an endearing smile as she watched you stumble to the front.
“I want a Jasmine tea and a muffin” you order.
“Wow, Y/n. Did you finish the coffee and bagels already?” the blonde barista jokes.
“Haha, very funny Sharon, but I’ll have you know that this isn’t for me” you reply. You and Yelena are regulars at this coffee shop, so it’d only make sense that you were friendly with Sharon and the other baristas here.
Sharon looks back to where you were seated and notices the pretty brunette waiting at the table.
“Ahhh, I see. Well, in that case, I’ll make it on the house” she says kindly.
As she prepares your order you continue to make casual conversation with Sharon, with her trying to get as many details about your little date. Wanda watches this interaction from afar and has to suppress the little green monster threatening to come out. She doesn’t understand why watching you speak to the blonde barista makes her feel so jealous, considering you were only friends (for now). She has to hide her glare, when you turn back around, giving her a bright smile and holding up 2 fingers - indicating her order should be ready soon.
“Here you go” Sharon says as she hands you the tea.
“Thanks Sharon, I owe you one”
“No worries but hey” she says with a concerned look. “Have you noticed that Yelena’s been acting weird?”
You instantly knew what she was referring to. You and Yelena are regulars at this coffee shop, so it’d only make sense that you were friendly with Sharon and the other baristas here. Ever since revealing to Yelena that you liked Sharon (romantically) she’s elected herself as your wingman and has been trying to leave hints to the barista that you wanted something more. It’s been very embarrassing but Sharon didn’t seem very perceptive to it until Yelena flat-out asked if she found you attractive. Thankfully, she was a good sport about it and brushed it off. You hoped that she would have just forgotten about it, but appears she has not. Now you were put in the awkward position of explaining it to her, which required a delicate hand. You look at Sharon kindly.
“You know how she is” you left it as that before rushing back to your table. You seriously needed to have a conversation with Yelena about being subtle. You could only imagine how much worse it would be if she finds out that Wanda is the one you actually liked ( *cough cough* read the Valentine's Day Special).
You set her order on the table and Wanda looks at you thankfully, as she begins to eat. The conversation flows between you two, and it feels refreshing. You both couldn’t hide your smiles as you finished your outing.
Walking out of the coffee shop together, you noticed that Wanda’s car wasn’t in the parking lot. Wanda walks with you to your car, brushing against you with each step. When you reach the door you turn back to Wanda.
“I enjoyed this, spending time with you today” Wanda fiddled with her hands nervously. “I don’t want it to end”, she finishes glumly.
“Well it doesn’t have to” you have a hopeful look you weren’t ready to say goodbye either. “I’m still not familiar with the area -unless for food- so would you maybe…want to come to my place? We could watch a movie and cook dinner together, I’m still not too confident with my skills in the kitchen” and now you’re rambling. She looks at you inquisitively. “Feel free to say no, I don’t want to pressure you” you rush out, beginning to regret your invitation.
“You’re seriously asking your cooking instructor to come cook for you” she teases. “Wow Y/n, I’ve never had one of my students propose such a thing. Are my classes not enough?”
“Well what can I say, I’m in desperate need of private lessons. I learn better one-on-one” you flirtatiously joked. Her cheeks went red instantly, and you couldn’t hide your laugh.
“I’d love to,” she says warmly. “Plus from what Yelena’s told me, you’d probably starve tonight if I didn’t come”
“Hey, she’s much worse than me. I at least have a variation to my diet” you defend yourself. You couldn’t believe that Yelena had the audacity to complain to Wanda about your eating habits.
“You both could use the help,” she says attempting to stay neutral. You give her a knowing look, but she avoids your eyes. “Shall we get going?”
Walking over to the passenger door of your car, you open the door for her.
“After you milady,” you say charmingly. She gets in shyly, before flashing you a small smile. You close the door and walk back to your side. This is a good day.
—
When you arrive at your apartment, you lead Wanda to your door. Nervousness filled your body, this was the first time you’d invited someone over -not even Yelena has seen your apartment yet.
“I just want to warn you before you go in” you begin to unlock your door. “Lower all of your expectations. I’m still in the process of decorating so” you open the door, allowing her to go through first.
“Wow” she walks at everything your living room has to offer. A couch and tv, nothing else. “It looks great”. She eyes your kitchen before looking at you for permission. You walked with her to the kitchen, knowing she was not gonna be too happy with what she finds.
“Your counters look a bit bare, but I guess that makes sense if you barely cook” she analyzes before opening your refrigerator. “It’s completely empty!” quickly closing the door, and opening your cabinets. “WHY DO YOU HAVE NOTHING IN HERE?” she glares at you.
“I just haven’t gotten around to it yet” holding your hands up in defense, you know it’s a weak response.
“You’ve been here for more than a month, how much more time do you need?” she gawks, she couldn’t believe this was real.
“You-you’re not allowed to look so surprised, I joined your class for a reason. What happened to your optimistic ‘anyone can cook’ attitude?”.
“Most people come to learn a new recipe or two. You need an intervention” she says bluntly. “I’m depressed just being in here. I don’t even know how you’ve survived this long” she looks so disappointed when she gets closer to you, offering a gentle hug and rubbing your back. You enjoy it until you begin to feel her grip tighten. Uh oh. She must have seen it.
Pushing you away, Wanda walks to your trash can and points at the numerous takeout bags - from the last 3 days - piling up to the top.
“Really?”
“I thought you’d be happier to see that I’m eating well” you joke, but Wanda doesn’t seem to find it very funny.
“We’re going to the grocery store now. Let’s go” she orders, leaving no room for any further discussion on the matter. Part of you was surprised by her tone, but a (much) larger part was kinda into it. She looks hot when she’s angry and in charge. “Now” she’s looking at you impatiently, not wanting to leave the lady waiting - you scramble to get your keys and follow her out the door.
—
The next thing to ask yourself is: How do they make you feel? And you have to be honest, don’t let the butterflies influence your answer. Can you truly be yourself around them, or do you feel like you have to play a role in order to get their acceptance? You need to know the difference, as this has led to the downfall of all of your relationships. You need to start living for yourself - as your authentic self - even in your relationships. Don’t change yourself, if they are truly worth it then they’d accept you, flaws and all.
You’ve never been one to like going to the grocery store. For one, you did not know how to buy food, like a responsible adult that is taking care of their body, or whatever Wanda called it. In your defense, your taste in food hasn’t changed much since getting older, so you bought things when you were a kid. Which was why your cart filled up with more snacks than actual food you had to cook. Wanda changed that quickly, getting a cart of her own and filling it with healthier options. You had honestly thought she was shopping for herself until you got to the checkout and she asked you to watch her cart while she went to grab something. She took your cart and never came back.
Leaving the grocery store, you actually felt happy. You were not looking forward to putting the groceries up but you’ve never had so much fun in the store. Usually, you’re being dragged around the store, not having much of a say over what’s being bought besides the occasional and reluctant ‘fine but only one’. Wanda never made you feel bad about yourself and when you saw her exiting the store with a small bag of your favorite snacks understood she wasn’t trying to completely bulldoze your life. You’ve never had someone care this much about what you were putting into your body, while also taking consideration into what you liked. Her plan wasn’t to completely change but just to make sure you’d live longer with a more (age) appropriate diet. Maybe if you could watch Wanda talk animatedly about the importance of organic fruits and vegetables in your diet, you’d always enjoy your time in the grocery store. You’ll definitely have to ask her to come with you next time, though you know she’d probably volunteer.
Arriving back home, Wanda arranged your new groceries into your fridge and cabinets. She had a satisfied look on her face as she looked at her work. She was almost satisfied enough to leave. Keyword almost - she didn’t have much faith that you would just order takeout again instead of cooking the food you just bought. She helped you prepare a simple meal and you enjoyed it while watching Friends in your living room. You learned Wanda was more of a sitcom person, preferring shows from the 50s-60s. When you revealed that you’ve never seen sitcoms from this era she almost took your remote to start an episode, but you came up with a compromise by designating a night where you would replicate the events of today but instead end with a huge binge of these shows.
—
Your day with Wanda has officially come to an end, much faster than any of you hoped. As you pull up to Wanda’s house, you see her car in the driveway. Wanting to make sure she made it inside safely, you walk her to the door. The walk is silent with a light tension growing between you as you stand there just looking at each other. You want to make a move, but you still weren’t completely confident that Wanda would want that.
“We should do this again” You give her a small smile.
“Yeah we should,” she confirms. “I might need to make weekly visits to make sure you’re eating well” she ends teasingly.
“Well, I’ll hold you to it then,” you say before turning around. “I’ll see you soon Wanda”
“Please” Her hand grabs yours, preventing you from going any further. “Don’t go yet” her voice sounds so weak.
Pulling you back towards her, you see the hesitance in her eyes. Concerned, you move closer to her and squeeze her hand - that was still holding onto your tightly - in reassurance. She really doesn’t want you to leave yet. In a leap of courage, she leans forward first, and you follow suit. Your lips connect in a soft, yet passionate kiss, even you began to feel overwhelmed with emotion for some reason and she pulled away - you understood why.
“I want this, but I don’t know if I deserve to have it” she ends with a whisper, you could barely hear what she said. Tears started to escape her eyes, but before you could ask what was going on.
BEEP
Suddenly the sound of a car horn makes you jump apart. You hadn’t even noticed the other car pulling into the driveway.
“Mom!” a tiny voice screams from inside the car.
“Dad brought us to get ice cream, look how many scoops mine has, '' another voice says, as the car door opens.
Two young boys run towards Wanda, eager to tell her about their latest adventure to the ice cream shop. They didn’t even notice you standing there until they felt their mother stiffen, as they hugged her legs. Looking at you with innocent, yet questioning eyes, they pull away from Wanda and stand in front of you. Wanda uses this time to quickly wipe her face.
“Who’s this mom?”
“This is my new friend -”
“Y/n, and I was just leaving. I hope you enjoy your ice cream boys” you cut her off not wanting to stand there any longer, you rush back to the car - mumbling a quick goodbye. As you walked back, you saw a tall figure exit from the car and walk up to Wanda and the children. He ruffles their hair, noticing they were still watching you as you sat in your car. Gathering their attention, he stares at them as he opens the front door.
“Okay kiddos, back inside we go. And let’s avoid making a mess this time” he says the last part firmly. You’re too distracted with your own internal meltdown to notice that the man completely ignores Wanda as he walks into the house. She looks so broken.
Deciding you’ve outstayed your welcome, you drive back home trying (and failing) to keep the tears at bay.
And if you listened to everything I’ve said so far, and they’re still here then you probably met a keeper, don’t ever let them go. For the first time ever you know your heart will be safe with someone and you’ll take security in knowing that they wouldn’t break it. Enjoy this feeling.
A/N: This part kinda sucks, but I promise the next part will be better.

Wanda’s Fairy Tale Ending
Wanda Maximoff was a mystery. You didn’t know much about her or her life, besides the little tidbits and stories she’s told during class, but that didn’t deter you from catching feelings for her. The connection you felt during your first meeting felt genuine and authentic, and you thought she felt it too. By the way, she allowed you to see her in her most vulnerable state, and comfort her - as a complete stranger. The kiss you shared filled you with hope and opened the door to endless possibilities of what it would feel like to have Wanda - to be with her. And it made you so happy, so excited for the future.
Until it, all shattered, and now you were left feeling numb.
Walking back into your apartment, you fell face-first into your couch. You couldn’t believe how a day that started off so good, could end with you feeling as if someone pulled your heart out of your chest and stomped on it. Many would call this dramatic, and you would wholeheartedly agree if this happened to someone else (I mean who falls this deep for someone they’ve known for less than a month) - but fate had an interesting way of grounding you back to reality.
You weren’t even upset or angry with Wanda, the entire situation just left you feeling confused. You didn’t think that you misread the signs going on between you; she kissed you first. You spent the entire day together, so how did she just so happen to conveniently leave out such a big part of her life - her family. She has never brought them up, not even during class. You didn’t think Wanda would be the type of person that would hide something like this, but the fact that she did left you with so many questions. Why would she kiss you if she’s still married? Did you inadvertently become a homewrecker? What were Wanda's intentions with you? How far would things have gone, if you hadn’t found out this way? Would she have ever told you the truth?
A buzzing interrupts your thoughts. Groaning, you pull your phone from your pocket - you had no plans of talking to anyone tonight.
Wanda:
I am so sorry for how things ended tonight. Can we please meet up? I want to explain everything to you.
She’s been calling and texting you for the past hour, but you weren’t in the best mindset to respond after you left her house. You knew that you should accept Wanda’s request and listen to her explanation, but you couldn’t - at least not now. You weren’t ready to accept the reality of the situation you found yourself in - you were scared of how fast things have changed and what this conversation would mean. You didn’t want to lose Wanda before you even had her, but you didn’t want to be a part of any plan that would wreck the family she built. So you replied with the first thing you could think of before shutting your eyes, ignoring the slight aching in your chest.

“Breathe for me”
“I can’t, I can’t!”
“You can” the voice soothes. “Look at me”
Worried green eyes stared at the woman in front of her, who’s refusing to open their eyes.
“Wanda, please” the woman tries again, but firmer. Grabbing the younger woman shaking on the floor, she pulls her into her body. Cradling Wanda in her arms, she whispers into her ear, trying to coax her out of her panic attack.
“You don’t understand Tasha” she hiccups, ripping her body away from her best friend. “You didn’t see the look on her face after Vision and the kids showed up….it was like- “ her eyes flooded with tears as she remembered how you looked as you walked back to your car. “I-It always ends like this, everyone leaves me. What is wrong with me, w-why is it that everything falls apart when I try to be happy?”
Natasha pulls Wanda back into her arms before she continues speaking her self-destructive thoughts. Her heart hurts the longer she hears her friend speak this way about herself,
“Is it bad to say that I wanted this so badly? That for once in my life everything felt right” Wanda admits, voice slightly muffled by Natasha’s shoulder. “I didn’t think I’d ever feel this way, and now that I have and now she doesn’t even want to talk to me. I-I don't want to lose her” her soft cries fill the air.
“Wanda, listen to me” Natasha pulls away, looking Wanda in the eyes. “Anyone would be happy to be with you. Don’t use this as an excuse to stop yourself from seeking out your own happiness. You deserve to be happy and loved, and don’t try to convince yourself otherwise. ”
A soft buzzing interrupts Natasha. Wanda quickly pulls out her phone, her heart races as she sees it’s a new notification from you. Natasha reads the text from over Wanda’s shoulder, and watches how Wanda’s face transforms into a frown by the time she finishes reading.
“It’s gonna be okay, this isn’t the end,” Natasha says, kissing Wanda’s head as the younger woman sits in her arms. “Just give her some space”, wishing there was something she could do to take her pain away.

One week later
“Okay, this has gone on long enough” Yelena yanks the blanket off of you. “It’s been a week, you’re not allowed to mope around anymore”
“I haven’t been mopey” you groan out, finding yourself in a tugging match with Yelena over your blanket.
“This isn’t healthy, you haven’t been to work all week. The only time I see you is when I’m dropping off food, because I know you haven’t left your bed” Yelena was worried when she heard you took sick leave, and it only grew as when you suddenly asked her to stop by your apartment. She could instantly tell something was off with you, and no matter how much she wanted to help you, it was obvious that you didn’t want to talk about it. She hoped that you would open up to her when you were ready, thinking maybe you needed a day or two. So she was left doing what she could to ensure that you are taking care of yourself, which involved dropping off food and dragging you out of your apartment to take a walk to get fresh air. As the week went on, things weren’t getting any better, and she didn’t know how much more of your sudden mood change she could take. “Get dressed, we’re going out”
“Yelena, I don’t-”
“I don’t care what you want or how you feel about it. If you don’t want to talk about what’s bothering you, then fine I won’t pry but I’m not letting this go on any longer” she throws a pair of pants and a new shirt she got from your dresser onto your lap. “Get up now” she demands.
You obey, but only because you didn’t have the energy to fight her. You weren’t happy about the situation.
“Where are we going?” you ask from your bathroom.
“It’s a surprise, but trust me it’ll make you feel better in no time,” she says with a smirk that you couldn’t see. “Just meet me in the car”
---
“Is the blindfold really necessary still?” you ask, as you take cautious steps, having no idea where you were or where you were supposed to be going. “I’m sure we’d get there much faster if you took it off,” you say, before stumbling over your feet.
“No, and it won’t be coming off until the very last moment” she catches you from falling on your face. Wrapping an arm around your hip, Yelena continues to “guide” you to your destination. “You might want to get comfortable. Plus this would give you perfect practice for if you were to ever be blinded in a fight” she ends matter-of-factually.
“Now, I’m worried” you stop moving completely. “Listen, I’m sorry for whatever I may have done to tick you off, but this is the wrong way to go about it. You don’t need to do this to me, I’m sure we can find a legal and civil way to handle our differences”
“You’re being over dramatic”, rolling her eyes. “We have to hurry, it's about to start” pulling your body with much less grace than before.
“Okay, there’s a chair in front of you, do you think you’ll be able to handle sitting down?” she teases. Muttering under your breath - about being blindfolded still - you attempt to feel the top of the chair to position yourself in the best position to take a seat. After multiple attempts and reassurances from Yelena that she wouldn’t move the chair for “fun”, you sat in the chair with relief.
“Does that mean I can take it off-”
You hear the door open, and footsteps moving at the front of the room.
“Hello everyone, my name is Natasha and I’ll be your instructor for today,” a voice says.
“Is this a joke?” Yelena says seriously.
Quickly, you untie the blindfold from your face, eager to see what was happening. You look at Yelena to find her staring ahead with a blank face. As you looked to the front you were greeted by a woman with red hair standing in the front of the room.
“You are the last person that needs to be teaching a class, sestra” she jokes. “Where’s Wanda?”
You felt your body stiffen at the mention of the woman’s name. Natasha has a tight smile on her face as she addresses her sister. “She’s a bit tied up at the moment” she ends, with her eyes landing on yours. “But she didn’t want to cancel the class for today, so I’m here to fill in. She had the recipe printed out on these papers” she begins passing out the papers to each person. When she reaches where you and Yelena were seated, her green eyes bore into yours, as if she’s analyzing you. “Can I speak to you for a moment outside?” It didn’t feel like a question, and as you were about to go into the hallway, Yelena stopped you - as if to check if you were comfortable with Natasha's request. You knew this was her attempt at giving you an out, and if needed she would have no problem protecting you from her sister’s wrath.
“It’s okay,” you reassure her, before making your way into the hallway, a bit nervous about the upcoming conversation.
Natasha is already standing there coolly, her body leaning against the wall. You walk up to her hesitantly.
“Y/n, right?” she asks
“Yeah” you reply. “I’m assuming this is about Wanda”
“It is, she really misses you, but wants to respect your need for space”
“She’s married,” you say bluntly. “And she didn’t tell me about that or her family before kissing me”
“Her situation is…complicated. But if you’d give her the chance she’d want to explain everything to you herself” she rushes out
“I don’t want to be someone’s mistress. I wanted- I don’t know what I wanted but”
“And you won’t be, that’s the opposite of what Wanda wants” Natasha tries to assure you, but how could you trust her when the things you witnessed that day contradicted everything she was saying.
“Please just hear her out. I promise that what she feels for you is real. I haven't seen this version of Wanda in years, she’s happy whenever she talks about you. She hasn’t been for a while, so you can just imagine my shock when she told me how long you’ve known each other.” Natasha has a distant look in her eyes, as she thinks of the state Wanda had been in. She was like a robot on autopilot, only living out of responsibility for the people that depended on her…until she met you. She remembers seeing the excitement in Wanda’s eyes as she talked about you.
“I was hesitant about how fast she caught feelings for you and I still am because I don’t want to see her hurt, but right now, she is. She’s going through a lot of change right now, and she thinks she’s lost everything like she is incapable of being happy. You were the last straw, of a long list of things that have been building up. I know this was way more than you anticipated when you first met, but you have to make a decision. Either you deal with it together because she’s worth it or you let her go. I won’t lie and say it will be easy, Wanda is complicated, and she’s been through much more than most can handle, but she finds the strength to go on through the people in her life. You are among the few that she lets in, so if you can’t handle it then you owe it to her to end this limbo you’ve been in and let her go. Let her find someone else”
You feel your chest tighten at the thought of letting Wanda go from your life.
“I don’t want to lose her” you whisper. “But it hurts. It hurts being away from her and it hurts when I think of being with her again after what happened”
“I’m sorry, I know it’s not easy. You have to make a choice, for both of you” Natasha says squeezing your shoulder before walking back into the class.
You felt like you were suffocating the moment you heard the door close. You’re only left alone with your thoughts and you are your own worst enemy. Your mind races through the possibilities of your impending decision.
You ran outside of the building, desperately needing fresh air. You choked and fell to your knees as the air entered your lungs. Your vision blurs as you stare at your fingers digging into the dirt beneath the grass, desperately needing something to ground you. You want to cry out for help, but the only person you want is far from your reach, and you had no idea if they’d ever be back. Why was it so hard to follow your heart?

Boxes.
Boxes.
And more boxes.
Wanda spent her day surrounded by them, and as the people began to migrate out of the house, only they remained to keep her company.
They were filled with memories of a time that Wanda never thought would end, a time she never wanted to end.
This house marked the start of a new life and now marked the end of one. She remembers how happy she was as she walked through the empty rooms, thinking about how long she’s waited for this moment. She was ready to breathe new life into this house and to make it become a home. A sense of stability she’s been craving since her childhood. She rubs her pregnant belly, imagining how her little ones would run happily around the house like she once did with Pietro. Her hand stills as she thinks of her brother, the only family she had left. She misses him every day, but Vision promised her that the family they’ll create would be worth it. Once they’ve grown gray and old, she wouldn’t have any regrets about what she they had to give up along the way.
And looking around her now, this was all she had to show for it. An empty house filled with boxes from a life that was promised to her. A life that wasn’t supposed to have an expiration date. A life she fought tooth and nail for since he implanted the idea into her head at the start of their relationship. And a life that he gave up on, when she first caught his infidelity. And then once more, as he served her with divorce papers after counseling, stating that what she wanted was a fairy tale but even that couldn't save their relationship. They were broken beyond repair, and he didn’t see the point in fighting for them, for Wanda, as it was only prolonging the inevitable. The person she left her family behind and burned so many bridges for, had just told her that she wasn’t worth it. And for the first time in 10 years, she was alone, not even the sounds of the footsteps or loud laughter of her children filled the empty air.
Only silence and boxes surrounded her. And as her mind wandered she could only believe that she deserved this. She was too stupid and naive to believe that she’d be able to get a happy ending after everything. When she looks back at the path of everything she’s destroyed, the bridges she’s burned along the way, it fills her with regret. She yearns for the life she had before and wished she would have made different decisions. It makes her feel guilty to admit this because she wouldn’t have her beautiful boys if she had, the only motivation she had for a while to keep moving forward. But even they weren’t enough to fill the hollowness she felt at that moment.
When she thinks of you, her body shakes from the sobs threatening to rip through her throat. Oh, how her body desperately wishes to be wrapped in your arms one last time. But like everything else in her life, she had gone and ruined that as well. Any hope of you coming back into her life dwindled as the radio silence from you continued. She was afraid of reaching out to you first, believing it would only push you away more but by the end of the week, she had to accept that you had already come to your decision about the future of your relationship with her. She was living in a fantasy land if she honestly believed that you would be able to forgive her. And maybe this was what Vision meant when he said that Wanda wasn’t worth it, she was a fool to believe that you would think otherwise.
The tears stream down her face, showing no signs of stopping. She hunches over leaning her head against the carpet, her hands clenched tightly in fists as she feels the stinging of her fingernails piercing into her palms. The only thing filling her mind are the thoughts telling her that she deserves this pain. That she deserves much more for all the damage she caused, so grips them tighter until she’s sure that she’s drawn blood. The pain had subsided until all she felt was numbness. Craving the feeling - of something, anything - she uncurls her fist and moves her hands to her hair. She digs her fingers into her scalp letting out a frightening scream that burns her throat until all that remains is a soft hiccuping. She doesn’t want this, she doesn’t want to be alone. The one thing she wanted was you, but you were too far from her reach and she knew you would never come back.
Despite this, she couldn’t help but imagine how things would be if she actually lived in a fairy tale. You would come through her door right now, instantly worried about the state she is in. You would pull her into your arms, and she would grip you so tightly, afraid you'd disappear if she let go. She would hide her face in your chest as she whispers apologies. You would squeeze her against your body even tighter, as you imagine what would have happened had you not come when you did. Tears would fall from your eyes as you apologized for not coming sooner before making her promise that would never hurt herself again. You would kiss her hands, she could feel the stinging sensation from your salty tears mixing with her bloody wounds. She would agree only if you promised to stay and let her tell you everything she should have before. You would say you didn’t care about that right now, before promising that you were here to stay. You would carry her to the bedroom, and lay her down as you searched for something to clean her up with. She would grip your shirt tightly, only letting go after you assured her that you would come back.
“Don’t leave me” was the last thing she muttered before exhaustion overtook her body.
Yelena the Match Maker - The (Late) Valentine’s Day Special
Summary: It didn’t take long for Yelena to notice your crush on Wanda, not that you were trying hard to hide it. The tension between the two of you was palpable, even during class. But you’d only deny it whenever she brought it up, saying how you didn’t think Wanda liked you in that way. So as your best friend, she decided you needed a push and devised a plan to get this ship sailing. TLDR: Yelena trying (and failing) to be your wingman.

You noticed that Yelena’s been acting weird today, she was oddly excited to go to Wanda’s class after work. Practically rushing you out of the building as soon as you clocked out. You shrugged it off as Yelena being Yelena, you could never predict what she was thinking - ever. Plus you’d have to admit that you were excited for class today too, as thoughts of Wanda quickly flooded your mind. You started to get a lot closer these days, and you felt like you were in heaven the minute you locked eyes. Just seeing her angelic smile had the power to ease all doubt - about falling so fast - from your mind and when it was directed at you, you fell even harder for her. Yes, you were in deep, but you couldn’t help it. She was perfect. Smiling, you start your car and begin the drive to the community center.
As you walked into class you saw Wanda talking to a fellow classmate of yours, Monica. The room was fairly empty, which doesn’t surprise you because it was still pretty early. You thought Yelena would have already beat you here from how fast she drove out of the parking lot after work. A small part of you was starting to get worried, but a much larger part wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to have some alone time Wanda. Yelena was more than capable of taking care of herself. When your eyes met Wanda’s, you offered her a small wave and walked to the station in the back row, her green eyes lit up before she quickly excuses herself from her conversation. Monica left the room, saying she’d be missing today's class. Now you were truly alone.
“Hey Y/n” Wanda says, cheeks lightly dusted pink in embarrassment from how fast she ran over to you.
“Hey” taking in her appearance, you grin. “You doing okay there Wanda? You look a little out of breath”
“Shut up” she groans as playfully punches your arm.
Before you could retort her hands reach towards you - slightly above your hips - pulling you closer to her by your jacket.
“I had a lot of fun with you yesterday,” she says lowly, her attention now focused on her hands as fingers nervously fiddled with the bottom of your jacket. You internally scream from how cute she is.
Using one hand you grab her hip, while the other reaches under her chin. Lifting her head until you make eye contact with the green eyes you’ve fallen for. Looking at her face you can see how anxious she truly was in this moment, - as if scared of your reaction to her small confession - and you only wished to ease her worries.
Leaning closer you bring your lips to her cheek. Kissing it softly, you pull away hoping to see her nervous expression leave her face. Let’s just say that the bright red tint of her smiling cheeks was the perfect indicator that it had worked.
“Every moment I spend with you, makes me incredibly happy” you confess, her eyes light up even more. “But yeah, yesterday was fun too” you end jokingly. “I’ve never seen someone rage so much at Mario Kart”
“Hey, in my defense it seemed like everyone decided to gang up on me. You’d get angry too if 3 red shells hit you while you were in 1st place” she mutters angrily, as she remembers the unfortunate events from yesterday.
“My ears have never heard so many Sokovian curse words” laughing at the memory, you bring both of your hands to her waist as she attempts to push you away. Realizing that you had no plans of letting her go, she leans her head into your chest.
“But you’re supposed to be on my side, Detka” a pout forming on her lips. She knew she was playing dirty. You could never resist her pout and throwing in the nickname only assured her victory. On cue, you fell for it immediately, wrapping your hands around her tighter - pecking kisses all around her face.
“I’m sorry, Wands I think I may have gotten a bit carried away with wanting them to like me” your onslaught of kisses continues. “You know that I’ll always be on your side no matter what, right?”
Giggling she brings her hands up to your face - pushing you back lightly - deciding she wanted your undivided attention as she answered.
“Yes I know” her voice is warm, as she looks at you longingly. “And I’m so lucky to have you here still, even after everything”
“You’re worth it” you admit, feeling your heart swell with love. “You’re worth everything and more to me”.
Slowly you both lean in, wanting to seal this moment forever in your memories. You could feel her warm breath ghosting against your lips, deciding to not prolong this moment further you connec-
SLAM
You and Wanda jump apart in surprise. Barreling through the door was your lovely best friend, who was just as surprised to see you too.
“I didn’t see anyone in here when I looked through the window. What were you two doing back here?” furrowing her eyes brows.
“Uh, we were just- ” you start, looking at Wanda for help.
“Talking about today’s lesson. We’re making red velvet cupcakes today” she finishes, eyes switching between you and Yelena.
“I can’t wait!” you say looking at Yelena enthusiastically, wincing at how fake it sounds and hoping she doesn’t catch on.
“Okay, don’t tell me then,” She says as she walks to our station.“You don’t have to act so weirdly about it”.
You and Wanda look at each other in relief. But before anything more could be said, more people flooded into the room. Wanda makes her way back to the front of the room, greeting everyone that comes in. Class has officially started.
__
Everything carried on as it normally does today, with Wanda teaching and you gazing (or drooling according to Yelena) at her. Yelena’s odd behavior from earlier seems to have subsided, but you noticed she kept glancing at the door. Almost, as if she was waiting for someone. Before the detective in you could fully come out, a sudden knock halts everything in the room. Wanda walks to the door and unlocks it, she is surprised to see an older man carrying a bouquet of flowers the size of his head. He walks to the front of the room, before pulling out a note from his pocket.
“I have a delivery here for…” he squints his eyes as he reads the paper.
“A Y/n L/n” and as he finishes all everyone’s head turns to you. Including Wanda’s.
Feeling confused, but very awkward in this situation, you put your head down hoping he’s made a mistake.
“Is there a Y/n here?” he asks, beginning to get annoyed.
“She’s right here,” Yelena says, raising her hand.
He walks over carrying the bouquet to your station.
“Hey, kid, the gal who got you these must really like you a lot” pausing as he places the flowers gently on the surface. “Treat her well” he winks at you before walking away.
“Oh, I almost forgot,” he says, stopping in the middle of the room. He pulls out 5 boxes of heart-shaped chocolates from his satchel. Returning to your station, he stacks them neatly next to the flowers.” Ehhh… I’m not sure about these. Valentine’s Day was weeks ago, but to each their own” he gruffs out. And now he finally leaves.
The room is completely silent, everyone’s eyes still on you. Looking down at your new “gifts” you could feel your cheeks start to burn from embarrassment. You have no idea what just happened. Daringly, you bring your head up and look toward Wanda, and boy does she not look happy. Frowning, her eyes darkened as they bore into yours. You look at her pleadingly hoping she understands that you’re just as confused as she is, but she shuts her eyes close. Breathing in and then out slowly, and opens her eyes again. You still held everyone’s attention even during your silent exchange with Wanda, you watch as she slams her hand onto the top of her station. The loud noise snaps everyone out of whatever trance they were in.
“Are you all ready to continue now?” her voice dripping with fake sweetness.
You were really in trouble now. Beside you, Yelena had to hide her smile as she watches her plan become a success. From her limited experience with love, she knew that jealousy was the best way for people to accept their feelings for one another. If you couldn’t see Wanda’s obvious feelings for you before, you’d definitely have to see them now. You feel a sharp elbow in your side unexpectedly, you look towards Yelena and she winks at you - smiling.
What the hell was going on today?
–-
Wanda continued class on as if nothing ever happened…or at least that's how everyone else felt. She still looked expressive as always as she explains the steps for the recipe. You found yourself smiling seeing how cheerful she was, but whenever your eyes met her eye hardened, lips forming into a line. She’d quickly averted her eyes to someone else in the room. She even avoided coming to your station during the mixing portion. You’d search for her expectantly only to see she’s engaged in a conversation with another group. Waiting for the cupcakes to bake, you look down at the flowers dejectedly, wondering what you did for Wanda to react this way.
RING
“Sounds like our cupcakes are done, now we can start the fun part” holding up a frosting piping bag. “Decorating”
Splitting the pan in half, you and Yelena started to decorate the cupcakes. Taking inspiration from your current mood, you began piping little broken hearts onto yours. Your behavior confuses Yelena - shouldn’t you be happy now - but before she could inquire about what was wrong with you Wanda decided to make an appearance.
“These flowers look nice” feigning interest in the bouquet. Looking up you were surprised to see that she was suddenly here after spending all of class avoiding you
“Yeah, they are” Yelena answers as if it was a question posed to her. “ It looks like our little Y/n has a secret admirer” throwing her arm around your shoulder.
You stiffen as you feel Wanda glare at you.
“It definitely looks like it” she exasperates. “Y/n, I was hoping to talk to you after class today about your… disturbance”
You stare at her blankly, trying to gauge her reaction. You don’t feel very confident about this talk later. If looks could kill, you’d be six feet under right now. Yelena bumps your arm, wondering how you still weren’t seeing the signs yet - now in her mind you were being rude and ruining her genius plan by not responding. Shouldn’t you be reveling in this moment?
Wanda looks annoyed that you still haven’t said anything yet. “Actually, let’s do this now. Meet me in the hallway” she says impatiently, walking out of the room and slamming the door behind her.
You look on in fear. You don’t want to go out there. Looking at Yelena for help, you realized you were not on the same page about this situation. She’s pointing at the door, happily as if you’re crazy for not leaving already. She stands up quickly, grabs your wrist, and drags you to the door. Opening it, she pushes you into the hallway - giving you another wink before closing the door. Did that entire interaction from before just go over her head, why was she willingly shoving you toward your own death?
Yelena smiles as she shuts the door in your face. Walking back to your station she smirks. This is exactly how things play out in movies, Wanda - sensing competition - will stake her claim on you, in an attempt to keep you to herself. She’ll kiss your oblivious lips until you realize that she has feelings for you and then you’ll finally get together. She mentally sets a timer for 5 minutes, knowing she’ll catch you in the act the next time she opens the door.
Stumbling into the hallway, you see Wanda leaning against the wall, hands crossed against her chest. She looks at you expectantly.
“So..” you start off
“Who are the flowers from Y/n?” Wanda says sternly, getting straight to business.
“I don’t know” you say truthfully. She looks at you skeptically. “I really don’t know”.
Wanda closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves.
“I thought you said you were okay with us taking things slow” looking at you again, all anger leaving her body and being replaced with doubt.
“Hey, I meant what I said. I’m more than okay with waiting until we’re both ready,” you say getting closer.
“The flowers and chocolates waiting for you in there speak a different story” she replies bitterly. “So where’d you meet her? Work? The bar? Tell me, I wanna know”
“There is no one else” grabbing her hands. “I’m just as surprised as you are”
“So if they mean nothing to you then why accept them?”
“I don’t know what you wanted me to say, Wanda, I’ve never been in that situation before” you exclaim. “You could tell how embarrassed I was about the whole thing, I don’t enjoy those types of public gestures. Plus you saw how everyone was looking at me in there, it would have been a lot worse if I rejected them”
“Yes, but I would have felt better about everything!” Her voice was loud. “Imagine how hard it was for me to see that. I thought what we had meant more to you” her head now looking at her shoes. “It hurt a lot, it felt like everything we’ve been building towards had been shattered, you’re supposed to be mine. The one person I was allowed to be selfish with, you made me believe that Y/n”.
“Now I just feel like an idiot for ever believing I could want things and actually be happy again,” she says weakly, as she stands amongst the wreckage of her broken walls. You feel tears springing into your eyes at Wanda’s words. She genuinely believes that she can’t be happy and that breaks your heart, even more knowing that you (unknowingly) were the cause of it.
Walking up to Wanda, you get down on your knees and look at her pleadingly. “Wanda, I’m so sorry for causing you so much pain. I would never, ever, intentionally do that because it hurts me to see you like this. My chest aches in pain whenever your smile leaves your face, and I promised myself that I would do anything to bring it back. Please believe me when I say there is no one else, only you” she looks away, and you hold her hips to keep her attention. “Please, Wanda. I know the situation doesn’t look great but I need you to trust me. I would never do anything to betray you or your trust” the tears are streaming down your cheeks now as you beg this woman with everything you have.
Sucking in a deep breath, Wanda looks down at you. You can see that she desperately wants to believe you but the pain is still there. Your heart breaks at the thought of this being over and Wanda walking out of your life. You bend your head down to hold in your sob. You feel a soft hand on your head, “we’ll continue this later” her voice quiet.
You nod your head eagerly, at the chance to prove your innocence and make things up to her. Before you could move, the door of the class opens. You quickly wipe your face before turning around to face the source of the interruption with Wanda.
“Hey guys, it looks like we’re all pretty much finished for today,” Yelena says, as she peeks her head down the hall. Wanda is the first to walk back in, desperate to end the class. As you pick yourself up and walk into the room, Yelena slaps you on the back, grinning. “I don’t know what I walked into back there, but it looked pretty kinky”.
You raise an eyebrow in confusion. What part of that looked kink- Oh. You bring your hands up to your face and groan. From Yelena’s perspective, yeah it probably did look worse than what actually took place. You definitely would mind being on your knees for Wanda, especially if it left her gasping rather than close to tears. You shook your head, you couldn’t let your mind get too distracted. You weren’t in the clear yet, and you had to make the most out of the chance she was giving you. It definitely felt like the last.
Wanda dismisses the class and reminds everyone that there we wouldn’t be meeting up next week. You stick behind, eager to finish this conversation in the comfort of your own homes and ultimately decide it would be best to do it at Wanda’s. Yelena squeezes your shoulder as she packs up to leave. She leans in close, “I hope you enjoyed your little gift today”. You look at her confused, trying to piece together what she meant. “Don’t have too much fun and use protection”.
Yelena walks to the door and when she looks back she sees that Wanda has walked over to you, holding her hand out expectantly. You place the bouquet and chocolates in her hand. She walks to the nearest trash can and throws them in aggressively. A slight smile crossed her face as she turns back to you. You make eye contact with Yelena, seeing her put two thumbs up and mouth ‘she’s going to kill you’ but with a proud look. Before you could say anything she was already out of the door.
Getting up you start to pack up your cupcakes and prepare to leave. As you go to pick up the container, you see two pieces of paper underneath.
They are the receipts for the flowers and chocolates, with Yelena’s name on the orders. As you look at the total price you see she had got a good deal for it all, it was the typical everything must go sale price - as the store was eager to get the next holiday items in. On the back of it, you see something written:
A gift from me to you, I just hope Wanda goes easy on you tonight. I wouldn’t be surprised to see you walk in with a limp tomorrow. ; )
P.S: You owe me $20
Wanda has already left the room, but you take off right behind her. Yelling for her to wait as you carried the evidence to prove your innocence.
A/N: This is my first time ever writing and I couldn’t have ever imagined that so many people would enjoy. I do have plans of continuing this as a series, I just ask that you remain patient as I get into the wing of things. Thank you all for the support!!!!!
Masterlist
Part 3
--
Throughout the class, you felt very conflicted.
You have to admit that Wanda was a great teacher. You could practically feel her passion for cooking in the way her eyes shined as she explained each step. Even throwing personal stories from her past of cooking with her family and trying to teach her brother how to not start a fire the moment he entered the kitchen. These stories pulled laughter from everyone in the room, and the awkward air from your introduction was soon forgotten. Her enthusiasm for the craft was contagious and it spread to everyone. She was like a motivational speaker, with the ability to make anyone believe that they could cook a delicious meal, no matter their skill level. You had faith that you would actually be able to make something edible, even with Yelena as your sous chef.
After explaining each step, it was time to put what you learned into action. Wanda began walking around slowly, from station to station checking on everyone’s progress and providing assistance if needed. You aren’t too sure what drew her over to your station much quicker than the others but it may have been the “small” argument you got into with Yelena. Well…if small would include a slight yelling match followed by Yelena swinging a knife at you.
In your defense, you were only trying to help her follow the recipe exactly as Wanda had taught. You quickly learned that Yelena was more of the “screw what anyone tells me, I’ll do what feels right” type of person. While you admired type kind of attitude in other aspects of life, you wanted to impress Wanda during your first class. You tried to be nice about it and tell her what she was doing wrong. But all intentions of keeping the peace went out the window when the phrases “Why would I trust anything you say, you need the help more than I do” and “I’m surprised you were even paying attention by how much you were drooling over Wanda”, left her mouth while Wanda was only at the station to the left of you. It became every man for himself and had Wanda not stepped in you were sure that you would have lost a finger or two.
Wanda decided it would be best to stand between the two of you until Yelena was no longer muttering angrily in Russian. Looking at what was completed so far, she thought it’d be best if she provided some assistance to salvage the dish (but using much nicer terms). Being in the middle also meant that Wanda had to reach between you and Yelena to grab the items she needed. She made casual conversation while she explained the steps again but every time you slightly felt her hand or body lean against you to grab something, you malfunctioned.
A Very Unfortunate Example :
After the incident earlier, Yelena has been banned from using knives without supervision. So when you volunteered to cut up the potatoes, Yelena decided to join as well, making a competition out of it.
“Okay, you need to dice the potatoes more, they’re a little too bulky,” Wanda says while holding your freshly cut potatoes in her hand.
“Ha, what an amateur” You hear a voice loudly say on the other side of Wanda. “What I said was true Y/n, you have no business commanding me around in the kitchen”.
“I wasn’t commanding, I was just-“ you started.
“Hey, when you’re making smaller cuts don’t hold the knife like that” Wanda interrupted, pulling your attention back to her. “Here, let me show you”
Wanda moves even closer to you and grabs your hand.
You felt a spark. And then it happened.
It felt like your hand had disconnected from your body. As if this one touch had transformed it into a being with a mind of its own. Filled with infinite fantasies of you holding Wanda’s hand as you’re coming back from a date or holding her close at night as sleep welcomes your bodies. The rest of your body could only feel jealous at the lack of contact.
“Now it’s more stable and easier to cut. Do you feel the difference?”
You’re too far gone to even remember what she did with your hand or even notice the difference between the cuts. You just respond, with a slow nod.
(* What you didn’t know was that this interaction had also caught the attention of a certain Russian you had crossed. One who saw you for what you truly were, a walking gay disaster whenever Wanda’s around. And saw this opportunity as the best time to enact her revenge. She glances at you with a smirk *)
Your lack of a verbal response turns out to be the wrong one as her head quickly turns to you, eyes firm believing that you are simply ignoring her. She raises an eyebrow, facial expression practically demanding verbal confirmation that she has your attention.
“Uh y-yes,” you stutter out. “This really helped me a lot, Wanda”.
You quickly averted your eyes and grabbed another potato, getting straight to work.
You’d like to believe that she was too distracted with Yelena to notice that you had reverted to your old way of cutting.
—
You were seriously starting to regret every choice you’ve made that ended you on Yelena’s bad side for today. She suddenly decided that she needed every ingredient and tool that was nearest to your side. Even ones that didn’t make sense for this recipe like a spatula and cheese grater. You were getting suspicious that she was plotting new ways to murder you. That is until she specifically requested that Wanda be the only one to touch and hand them to her.
You had caught on to what she was doing but that couldn't save you from falling victim to her trap.
Here’s how the routine went until the dish was ready to be put into the oven: Yelena would say she needed something to add personality to the dish. Wanda would look at you softly as if asking for permission to move into your space with her eyes. You, internally thinking, she never has to ask to invade your space before blushing about the true implications of your words. The feeling of Wanda’s body brushing against yours snapped you out of whatever fantasy you were in. The further the item was the more she has to lean into you, causing you to stiffen unintentionally. You silently pray that she didn’t notice and things won’t be awkward after she pulls away. Yelena, watching the entire interaction, holds in her laughter as Wanda grabs and hands the item to her.
Wanda and Yelena had started a lively conversation, with you joining in and joking around. Whenever Yelena felt like you were having too much fun, she’d meet your eyes with a devious smile. This was the only warning you’d get, but no matter how much you tried to prepare for what comes next you were still…a disaster. The most embarrassing part was that you could never continue the conversation like normal whenever the routine had started and Yelena loved every moment of it. You could only hold your breath, hoping that this would wrap up just a little bit faster, before you could embarrass yourself even more.
It seems that some higher power decided to take pity on you. Wanda had gone back to her position in the front of the room, while the dishes were being baked. Everyone was talking amongst themselves, class practically over as you were waiting around for the oven timer. Yelena is droning on about something besides you, but only one person managed to capture your attention. Your eyes couldn’t help but watch Wanda, something about her draws you in.
You see her look down, the sudden buzzing in her pocket taking her by surprise. She pulls out her phone, and her eyes instantly widen as she reads the notifications that are quickly flooding her phone. Her hands start to slightly shake, as she anxiously reads the screen. She looks up quickly, glancing around the room hoping that her class would be too distracted to notice her sudden shift in mood. Her eyes shift from each side of the room, and when they reached your area you knew you had been caught.
The moment those green eyes locked on yours, you knew you were trapped - too afraid of what would happen the moment you looked away. It felt like time froze around you both, the longer you maintained eye contact. You felt like you were caught in an intense staring game, where blinking meant severing whatever connection you were sharing with the woman at this moment. Getting over the initial panic you felt in the beginning, you decided to get a good view of her face.
Instantly, you could tell that whatever was going on, was a lot deeper than you had originally suspected moments ago. Her eyes shone with unshed tears, the sorrow in her expression feeling palpable. She no longer looked like the woman you had met earlier, exhaustion flooding her features. She looked weak and so close to falling apart. There’s nothing you wanted more than to erase that expression from her face, but you understood your role in her life. You were nothing but a stranger and in any other circumstance, you’re sure this side of her would have never been revealed to you. This wasn’t just a one-off instance of one text being her breaking point. You had a feeling she’s been putting up a strong front for a while now, and it was working well in the presence of others…until this moment.
So you did the only thing you could do. You offered a reassuring smile and hoped that your eyes communicated a sense of comfort. The same comfort she provided you when your mind threatened to trap you in your negative thoughts. The comfort has motivated you to keep going despite feeling overwhelmed with your new environment. The comfort that lets you know that you aren’t alone even in the face of a stranger. If she had the power to convey these feelings to you with just one look, you hoped to have even a third of that, as you stare back into hers. Your eyes are strong with conviction, and for a moment it seems to have worked. Wanda slightly softens, before a loud ringing snaps you both back to reality. The chicken pot pies were done, which officially signified the end of class.
As everyone’s attention turned towards the ovens in the back of the room, no one noticed Wanda had slipped out of the door. Well everyone except you, but you couldn’t dwell on it too long before Yelena began dragging you to the back. After the initial excitement of seeing the finished dishes had died down, everyone began packing up to leave. Wanda had since returned, face completely devoid of any emotion that would hint at her previous state of mind.
“Okay everyone,” Wanda says, effectively silencing all of the chatter in the room. “I’d like to thank you all for showing up, I know it’s been a while, but these classes wouldn’t exist without your support”. She smiles again, but it doesn’t hold the same feeling as it once had. Especially knowing the truth of what was hidden behind it. “You’re all free to go and I hope to see you soon”
And with that everyone began flooding out of the room.
___
Walking out of the building, you couldn’t help but feel satisfied with your day. This was the most social interaction you’ve had since moving here. Despite the moments of embarrassment in the beginning, you felt that by the end you were a lot more comfortable. Maybe the decision of moving here, despite being impulsive, was the right choice.
You said your goodbyes to Yelena before walking to your car. You couldn’t help but stare in awe as the sun began to set. The sky has never looked so large, it seemed endless. Small clouds littered the sky, yet the main attraction was the sun. The bright rays practically painted the sky orange. You’ve never seen such a beautiful view, being born and raised in the city. You never thought small towns had much to offer but at this moment, you were proven wrong.
You don’t remember how long you were standing there, so the sudden sound of a voice caused you to jump in surprise. You place your hand over your chest, heart beating fast, before turning your body to the source of the sound. A small laugh fills the air.
“I didn’t mean to scare you” Wanda’s grinning face welcomes you.
“You didn’t” you replied cooly, as if you weren’t about to have a heart attack a moment ago. “I was just admiring the view,” you say before turning your body toward the sunset again. “I’ve never seen anything like it”
“It’s easy to take for granted” Wanda sighs, turning her body as well.
“Wanda” you call out, contemplating whether you should bring up the moment you shared during class. “I know that you don’t know me well but… I just want you to know…” you get out, not quite sure how to form your sentence, but hoping it sounds sincere. You’re both still facing the sunset, and you hope it stays that way, knowing there’s no way you’d be able to continue if she looked your way.
“You’ve helped me a lot today, more than you’d ever think. I haven’t met many people here outside of Yelena” You take a deep breath before you continue. “I just wanted to thank you again. Maybe I could treat you to coffee sometime. I’d just like to get to know you better outside of these classes” you rush out, voice slightly wavering towards the end.
Silence fills the air.
You closed your eyes and sighed, ready to take this as a sign of rejection.
Until you felt a sudden presence in front of you and soft hands grabbing yours.
“Y/n” Wanda calls out gently. “Open your eyes for me, please”.
Lulled by her voice, you open them and are immediately greeted with the smile you’d grown fond of. It didn’t look like the facade she had while dismissing her class. This was a real smile, with her eyes matching the tenderness she wanted to convey.
“I’d like to know you better as well” She squeezes your hands before bringing them up between you and leaning in closer. “And if you’re serious about this, then that means you have to stop thanking me so much” she jokes, lips curling back into a smile but her eyes never leaving yours.
“You have a deal, then” you grin back, before giving her hands a squeeze. “Can I get your number, so we can plan a day to meet up?”
“Hmmm...” she says, tilting her head as if she was actually thinking about her decision. Your lips couldn’t help but form into a pout. This seems to speed up her decision, as she instantly begins reciting her number. You tried to hide your smirk as you saved her number, but by the groan and push to your arm, you knew she had seen everything.
After exchanging numbers, you decided to walk Wanda back to her car, like the gentlewoman you were. You opened the car door for her, and the conversation between you continued even as she sat down in her seat. Before you could bid your goodbyes, a loud ringing permeates the air. Wanda glances at the contact quickly before answering. You turned around, walking a few steps away to give her more privacy. You tried your best to tune out the conversation happening behind you, opting to hum your favorite song quietly to yourself. A heavy sigh cuts your mini concert short, and by the tone, you could tell something was wrong. Turning back to Wanda, you see her leaning forwards, with her elbows against her thighs and her hands covering her face,
Deciding to take a leap of faith, you walk closer to her, before crouching down. Both of Wanda’s legs were still hanging outside of the car, so you gently grasped her wrists before slowly moving up to her hands. When she didn’t stiffen or pull away, you took it as a sign to continue. Lacing your fingers with her own, you cradled her hands, before deciding to speak.
“Can I hug you, Wanda?” you asked, keeping your voice low. You felt her freeze and your hands suddenly became warm and wet. Hiccups began escaping her body. Believing that you were making things worse, you start to pull away, but before you could get too far her body crashes against you.
You don’t know how long you spent just holding her, but as the sobs wracked her body you promised to never let go. You knew that words were obsolete at this moment. There was nothing you could say to Wanda that would magically make the tears stop falling down her face. You could only hold her until her body stops shaking. You wrapped your arms around her tighter until you were practically supporting her weight with your body. She turns her head into your neck, breathing in your scent. It is at this moment, that she truly understands that she’s not alone. Even though the tears have since dried on her face and she was a lot calmer than before you didn’t move a muscle. You wanted her to be the one that pulls away first, you’d gladly keep her in your arms until she decided she was ready to go.
There weren’t any other words spoken between you two that night. When Wanda finally pulled away, your eyes connected. She pulled her hands up to hold your face, only communicating with glances. As you went to pull your hands back from where they had sat in her lap, she flinched. You brought your hands to her face, cupping her cheeks before leaning your forehead against hers. You both took a deep breath, each absorbing the person who was flooding their senses. You pulled away at the same time, with you offering a small smile as you prepared yourself to get up. Wanda returned one weakly before starting her car. She turned back towards you and nods. You nod back, and you lean in close, tucking the hair messily covering her eyes behind her ear. Your final farewell.
Returning to your apartment that night, you immediately threw your body into bed. You would have no problems going to bed tonight and just as the sleep completely pulled you under, a buzzing in your pocket alerts you. You lazily reach down, pulling out your phone. You read the notification before placing the phone on the pillow beside you.
You settle back into bed and close your eyes. A drowsy smile settles on your face and never leaves even as you enter your dream world.

Main Story: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
Oneshots/Drabbles/etc: The (Late) Valentines Day Special, Pt2
Casualty of love is truly amazing I've been waiting for a fic like this for so long and you're writing it so well
So I know it can be annoying for some writers to have those questions asked so feel free to tell me "fuck off" if it does but can I ask about the part 2? Like did you already write it or it you know when you'll post it.. Things like that lol
Thank you. It means a lot that people are enjoying it, this was my first time writing something this long so I wasn't sure how it would be received or if people would be interested at all.
This is kinda hard to answer. I had originally started Casualty of Love with the intention of it being a self-contained oneshot (aka the snippet), but I saw the potential to expand the story as I rewrote it. I don't have anything set in stone yet in terms of a Part 2, but I do have a plan for the storylines I want to explore. I just don't know how I want to write it yet. Whether it should be linear (told chapter to chapter, like my other series) or self-contained but longer (like I tried to do with this part) if that makes sense. Or maybe a mixture of both. I'm indecisive lol, but let me know your thoughts on which you would prefer. I hope I've somewhat answered your question, there is more to come for this universe I promise.
I'm also open to taking requests for drabbles or one-shots for anything you would want to see from this story or the others :)
