Werewolf au hit me with the headcanons
Halloween - Harley makes Harvey go as a vampire, like. Every. Frigging. Year. He’d refuse but then she won’t go as little red riding hood and frankly, it’s worth it just for that.
Their, uh, monthly cycles ;) both link up - somehow, so they both spend the week approaching the full moon a little bit extra moody and snappy with each other. Eventually, they manage to stop and think about things for five fucking seconds - instead of teetering on the precipice of a breakup.
Them getting together actually takes a heck of a lot longer this time around. Harley’s family is there to disapprove very loudly at this man hanging around with their young daughter / granddaughter. But in the end it’s not like that can stop her doing what she damn well pleases.
Harvey’s never really been the alpha dog type - He’s always been more comfortable following, than leading. He can step up if asked, but he knows better than to kick that hornet’s nest unprompted. Which is why being with Harley is like ??? Woah. He’s never really been jealous before - like his confidence might take a knock if a girl turned him down, and maybe there’s been one or two women he considered out of his league and possibly left well alone. He’s always been certain once he’s got his girl - he’s turned her head that far around she’d never go looking elsewhere. But with Harley… It’s not like he doesn’t trust her, but, if a guy so much as breathes in her direction is gets his back up. He just feels the need to up his game and be extra af for her.
And at this point, you’re probably like - “Where’s the pain I was promised?? You said it made you so god damn satanically gleeful you got dizzy!” - Well. It was their first date - It had taken quite a long time for them both the get to the right place for it to happen and Harvey wanted to show her a good time, the kind of good time a real man could show a lady - and it had been going well. So good, that honestly, Harvey knew something had to fuck up. Just had to.
And of course, it did. Some scum bag - one part drug dealer, one part pimp - saw them. He’d off’d one of his girls but with no solid proof, no amount of intimidation from Harvey had been able to put him away. He had a grudge, and he had a gun. He shot Harvey, and the wolf took over. The guy scrambled - took off, and Harley, who’d been on Harvey’s arm as he went down… Well. Harv remembers it (it still gives him nightmares) - he. He - he hadn’t meant to, of course not. But he was in a lot of pain and he wanted blood and he was gonna tear that guys head off - Harley was just. She was just. Collateral damage as he transformed.
He didn’t bite her - Thank God - He didn’t bite her but she had four, long thin scars that cover her back from her right shoulder to her left hip - where he raked his claws through her clothes and destroyed the delicate flesh beneath. She’d have died (because he was not fully functional mentally, and had torn off after the man who’d shot him) had the gun shot not attracted attention and someone else had taken her to the hospital. It took him a full week to get the courage up to come and see her - and even then he’d had to do it, stinking drunk and at three am. He’d hoped to not disturb her - but he ended up crying (very manly crying of course. The kind of crying you do while making BBQ and drinking beer with your buddies, you know.) and waking her up. He thought she’d hate him. She told him she was only angry with him because he’d left her to die of boredom for the last week. He hated himself instead. He could see how much pain she was in - and no matter how much she seemed to forget about the incident - it’s always there, the scars a physical reminder for him every time she strips in front of him.
She has told him many times there’s nothing to forgive - it was just an accident - and that’s what haunts him; always. Because there could always be another accident, and she might not survive the next one.
