Y’all, I am so embarassed about last week’s training post. I started writing it, and knew I would need to edit it bigtime before it was time to post… and then I got distracted by life and totally did not edit it at all. Yes, I scheduled an incomplete post and that incomplete post was sent out into the void. Ugh. Rookie mistake right there. I deleted it, and let us never speak of it again, okay?
But! This one is golden. I swear.
Monday, August 5:
3 easy miles today. I’m not entirely certain when I’ll get around to them, because Big J officially goes back to school today, so this week means I have no built in babysitter for Little J. Ugh. That means an early a.m. to get this run done before Michael goes to work, doesn’t it? Yuck. Well… to be honest I should probably get up to make sure Big J gets up for school anyway, so yeah. 6:00 a.m. wake up call for this mommy.
Tuesday, August 6:
Hill repeats, way too early in the morning! I’ve run up hills, but I don’t think I’ve actually done dedicated hill repeats before. Should be fun! Not sure if I’ve mentioned it, by the way, but my own personal training plan is a hodge podge mashup of Breakaway’s St. Jude marathon training plan and Lisa’s plan. She’s got a coach. I’m doing some of her plans with her (hello early a.m. hill repeats) and other stuff more from Breakaway.
Wednesday, August 7:
4 easy miles. Why do I even bother typing that? There is no world in which 4 miles is actually easy. It should be labeled “4 slow ass miles with just as much walking as running” or something more accurate. But 4 miles need to be completed.
Thursday, August 8:
Oh thank God, it’s a rest day! Although not like I’ll be sleeping in, what with the whole making sure the teen is awake thing. Plus, my cats have been pretty noisy in the morning anyway.
Friday, August 9:
4 miles, again way too early in the morning. Like, starting-the-run-at-5:15-a.m.-too-early. If that doesn’t make you wanna vomit I don’t know what will. Looks like a 4:00 a.m. wake up call for me. On the plus side, I’ll be home around the time Big J needs to leave for school. Hashtag facepalm.
Saturday, August 10:
Taking a rest day here since this week’s long run will be on Sunday. I should do some form of cross training, but I make no promises.
Sunday, August 11:
I’ll definitely be running the first RRS 5 miler. Beyond that… I’m not sure. At least one additional mile… maybe two? I don’t know. Miles will be run! I really like this particular race and the neighborhoods it runs through, so I’m looking forward to this weekend. I should probably find out if Heather is running this one or not.
It’s been good to actually be getting out and really running lately. There is no reality in all the potential realities in the multiverses where I actually enjoy waking up so stupid early, but if you can ignore the early mornings… the running itself is pretty fun.
But now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go watch The Mummy Returns before bed. Have a great week y’all!
Question of the Day: Do you prefer The Mummy or The Mummy Returns?
