Inktober 2025 no.15 - “Ragged” 🫏 

While this fairytale goes by many different names and retellings: Donkeyskin, Doralice, All Kinds of Fur, The She-Bear etc; they all follow a similar, harrowing story…

Once upon a time, there lived a king, his queen, and their princess. One day, the queen grew ill, and on her deathbed, has her husband promise to only marry a woman as beautiful as she was. After much searching, the king concluded there was only one girl whose beauty measured-up to his late queen… The princess - his own daughter. The princess had a large, ragged cloak made from the skin of her father’s prized, enchanted donkey. Using it to disguise herself and escape her father’s kingdom. Eventually, she met and fell in love with a handsome young prince who could see her true beauty underneath the Donkeyskin cloak. They were wed and lived happily ever after. 

The other versions of this story don’t get much tamer.

So, I made this list with my 100 favorite characters from all the stories I ever watched and read. I'll post It divided in 10 parts.

100- Rue (Hunger Games)

She was precious and deserved better

99 - Baby (Baby Driver)

I Just found him likeable, and I love his relationship with his adoptive father

98- Ophelia (Hamlet)

Ophelia's mental health was breaking down in the background while Shakespeare expected us to focus on the revenge. Maybe the reason why I cared so much was because I was at the lowest point of my depression when I read (no, I never had the chance to watch the play, I just read)

97 - Bee (Bee and Puppycat)

She's so relatable!

96 - Viola (Witch's House)

I felt so bad for her, I still think about that ending

95 - Doralice (Cordel Encantado)

Cordel Encantado is a Brazilian telenovel, the First I really watched, and Doralice was my favorite character there. Smart, bold, she defied the society's expectations to become a lawyer (the story is set around 1910, I believe)

94 - Éowyn (Lord of The Rings)

I was a child when I first watched the lotr movies (only years later I would read It) and I imediatly loved her

93 - Dan Goodman (Next To Normal)

A father who spends years denying his grief for his son's death, while trying to be a good husband and father to his wife and daughter. There's so much heart to the character, and I Just love I Am The One (Reprise) so much

92 - Lúcia/Maria da Glória (Lucíola)

Lucíola is a classic from brazilian literature, published in 1862. The love interest/title character is a prostitute whose birth name is Maria da Glória, but she adopted the name of Lúcia. There's a scene where a character jokingly points to Lucifer, the star, and says it was Lúcia's star, to wich she responds "isn't It clear to all that I'm angel that fell into this earth?"

91 - Henry Clerval (Frankestein)

Victor Frankestein's best friend, he was sweet and, like Rue, deserved better .
