Osaka <3
That morning when I woke up in Osaka, I knew I’d never be the same. Japan is the most magical place on earth to me. When all this COVID chaos is over, I hope I’ll be able to make it back again. The hypnotizing glow of neon signs and streetlights drawing me in and refusing to let go. I think I might belong there. Dotonburi dreams.

it was very crowded in the two main shopping districts in osaka but was worth the trip there!

Ohayōgozaimasu!
Here goes another layover, this time it’s in Osaka! I was really excited to finally visit Japan for the first time. It was just an over night stay but since we arrived early, around 12nn, we still had the rest of the afternoon ‘til evening to go catch a train to Namba, go around and have some good ramen, get lost with the beautiful lights of Dotonburi, and shop til we drop lol.
I was amazed with the number of people in Namba/Dotonburi, locals and tourists combined. I probably had the comparison because our hotel was located in a residential area where I can barely see anyone strolling around the streets and as soon I stepped out of the train station in Namba, thousands of people all of a sudden existed. Something I didn’t expect-well at least for me, a first timer! Haha.
Of course, a photo with the famous “Glico man” haha. Sorry for poor quality because I was just using my phone camera. So after taking a few shots(photos) and going around the area, we all decided to try the famous ramen-- Ichiran!
The ramen was just really gooood. In Ichiran, you start off with a vendo-machine to choose and pay for your order and then you go to your designated cubicle where they will get the small paper you got from the vendo and then they will serve it to you together with add ons if you have- then closes the wooden curtain to give you privacy. You get to enjoy the ramen without anyone looking at you haha.
Currently smiling as I’m typing this because after this layover, I’ve been to Japan countless times already because of work haha. But to honestly tell you, no matter how many times I come back, the Japanese culture, food, environment still amazes me. Will try to share more of my Japan layovers on my coming blogs! Thank you!
Oh, Dotonburi. How I've missed you! 💕
I was chatting earlier with a friend who is currently in Osaka, Japan. I have pics from my time there last Spring and here are some I’d like to share. 😊 This is a close up of Osaka castle, a very famous landmark built in 1583.
Osaka castle from a distance.
Pics from Dōtonbori area of Osaka, which runs along a canal. This H&M billboard caught my eye because growing up, I rarely saw Asian models for major brands, so I thought this was cool.
Beautiful Shiba Inu near Osaka Castle 😍
This is a vintage shop in Amerika Mura, an area known for American inspired stores, restaurants, cafes, etc.
And let’s not forget the food! Osaka is a destination for foodies. If you go there, don’t forget to try the okonomiyaki, which are savory pancakes cooked on a teppan grill, filled with meats, seafood, noodles, etc. it’s soo good! 😋 The Osaka vibe is very different from Tokyo. It’s smaller, of course, but it’s also more down to earth, less formal compared to Tokyo. I think you’d love it, I can’t wait to go back 💕
First night at Osaka Japan🎌 , after 12 hours of enduring long haul of flight✈️ , I found myself in the city's food Haven, 🍜 Dotonburi! Here's the iconic Glicoman 🏃♂️ Electronic billboard at my back, running for the win since 1935! 🏅🏆🎉 👌💯#WheninJapan 2.0 #AbaraiTravels ##dotonburi #glicoman #glicomansign #glicomanosaka #travel #wanderlust (at 道頓堀グリコサイン (Dotonbori Glico Sign)) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2z4cA8HyxB/?igshid=sub4ahxw12s
