Alcryst doesn't know how, but he's found himself in a difficult spot. A piece of candy has been foisted on him, and while he can appreciate the thought behind it... he can't see himself enjoying this. There's a certain softness to it like it's some kind of taffy, which is entirely too gummy for his tastes. It would take forever to get it off his teeth.

Hmm. Perhaps Lapis would appreciate this more...

🍬 "Have a Happy Harvest Festival darling!" Camilla hands you a piece of candy, wrapped in a long, narrow strip of cream colored paper. If you were to eat it, the hard candy turns to dust on your tongue.

“You are… Miss Camilla.” The juice box lady, as she’s known colloquially among the students, though he’d heard Ewan refer to her by name before. Ewan, whom up until a few hours ago had been beside him in the infirmary.

He takes the candy with a word of thanks, half-wary that the reason she’d approached him would have something to do with that fight at the exhibit. She is, after all, still a member of the faculty. Had the Knights said something?

No interrogation is forthcoming, however, and he is left alone with the treat, which he eats after another moment’s hesitation. Though solid at first, it dissolves almost immediately, leaving a fine dust of sugar on his tongue.

Not too bad.

"Thank you!" Patty eagerly takes the candy, taking only a brief second to admire the wrapping. The silver glittered in the moonlight as Patty tore it off, and popping it in her mouth.

No notable taste immediately, though it did make her skin crawl and tingle, the hairs jolting and standing on edge. Patty absent-mindedly scratched her arms, letting the sweet sit on her tongue for another second before swallowing. Not a pleasant sensation, but hey! It's food. And it wasn't awful in the taste department.

Patty grabbed a hold of her braid, examining it. Maybe it's done up too tight? Once in a while, she should let her hair down, maybe trim it? It was getting a little thick for her liking...

She just wants to get to the nearest inn, get some dinner and fall asleep. After what she's been through today she's in no mood to party. And here's a strange person, shoving a strange candy into her hands for the second time in less than an hour.

"And what flavour's this? Liquorice and seaweed?" She snaps, shoving it in her pocket and storming off.

Later, when she's had the chance to calm down, she actually tries it. It's... delicious, and the mouthfeel is like nothing she's ever experienced (in a positive way).

She sighs. That's another person she's snapped at unnecessarily. Maybe if she went back out to the festival she could apologise? Eh, it's unlikely they'd run into each other again.

“Um...” Fiora doesn’t recognize Camilla immediately. After the time in the infirmary, and the night in the exhibit, her mind is beleaguered with... less than savory memories. She looks down at the papered candy... back at the familiar face... and remembers a drink, and the same soft smile.

“Ah... thank you.”

... She finds she doesn’t remember her name.

Quietly, so as not to seem rude, Fiora twists the paper in her fingers, as though going to eat it, but when the woman leaves her sight, she adds it to her pack, instead. There, it will be forgotten about, until far in the future, it will be given to a child, who will get a very belated Harvest Festival trick, and be aghast at a confused Fiora for delivering it.

🧃It was a crying shame that Camilla never got an opportunity to work with the sunny girl on their mission.

"Hello there darling!" Camilla smiles warmly, holding out a juice box. "A little something to perk you up after all that nasty business with the tower. And if you need someone to talk to, my office is always open dear."

“Miss Camilla!” Sharena perks right up to attention at the purple haired Nohrian’s approach, any and all negative thoughts she may or may not have been having about the whole ‘Chalice’ debacle pushed right out the window where it belongs! With how many ‘Camillas’ have made their temporary home back in Askr compared to the rest of their team, she’s by far the most familiar face the princess could have the relief of seeing right now. It makes it all especially comforting, in a weird way. Like an old friend checking up on her after a hard day. Except she’s never actually spoken to this friend, officially.

Ah, well, she’s talking to her now! And if she’s checking on her, that’s gotta mean everyone else is okay, right? Bonus!

The juice box is definitely a new one, but hey, she’s not about to complain! Quite the contrary, really. She can’t even remember the last time she’s been thisgrateful to accept a little treat post-battle. “Oh, thank you! Boy, am I sure glad to see you’re alright! I was really worried after all that mirror stuff ended so… abruptly, you know?”

The princess laughs — she tries to, at least. To keep the mood light. After everything they went through, that’s what they all need isn’t it? That’s what sheneeds, she thinks.

…But is that what Camilla needs? She wasn’t there with her during any of their adventures. She hadn’t even seen her until the very end. Who KNOWS what she went through when the Askran wasn’t there to see? What if it was even worse??

“Um… Are you alright, though? Sorry if I’m overstepping, I know I’m supposed to be the student between us and all, but… if you need someone to talk to, I’m here, too? I-If you want, that is. We’re all in this together, right?”

🧃"There you are darling! Here, a little pick me up after that awful mission." Camilla hands her a juice box, and uses the opportunity to check in on the student. "Are you feeling alright after all that? I'm always available to chat if you need it."

Karla sits on a planter on the monastery grounds, sometime after classes, mentally in an utterly different dimension from those around her. If one were to ask where she is, she would not be able to tell — even she is not fully aware. Perhaps part of her is back in that mirror, held in the guilt and misery of a heavy, dark heart, boring and weighing her down.

How could she... have let... that happen to Ninian?...

The moment she’s about to be swept away in her agony, a voice interrupts her. Black eyes find similarly dark, and her chest tightens at the familiar face. Isn’t this... the wyvern rider from the mirror?

Her hand shakes as she takes the... little pick-me-up, she’d called it. Karla has never seen anything like this in her entire life. She has no idea what it is, nor how to work it, but she holds it, still, for it is an act of kindness, offered to her — she understands that much.

She stares at it, laced in her tawny fingers, before finally summoning words.

“... No. I... I am not alright.”

Karla doesn’t know this woman — not even her name — but... she knows that she asked. She knows that she’s standing here. She knows that she saw the things she saw, was there with her.

“I... let one of my companions die. I promised to protect her. And then... I let her die.”
