Combining Chinese Zodiac with Western Zodiac.

The merging of Chinese and Western Zodiac, known as “New Astrology” or “Combined Astrology” or “Double Zodiac” is a recent development fueled by Western Astrologers in an attempt to add more depth and accuracy to the personality and compatibility readings of their Clients’ horoscopes. Combining the 12 Zodiac Signs on each side results in 144 possibilities or combinations. The more ambitious ones would go one step further by taking into consideration the entire YEAR Pillar of the Birthchart that contains the “Heavenly” Element of each Chinese Zodiac Sign, resulting in a total of (12 X 12 X 5 =) 720 possible combinations. Surely, one would find one of these 720 profiles describing oneself with a high degree of accuracy?

Surprisingly, such are the skills of Astrologers that even with 144 general combinations, the horoscope readings of Chinese-Western Astrology (though greatly simplified by computers) can be fairly accurate for many of us. Instead of saying that one is say, a CAPRICORN (under Western Zodiac) and a SHEEP (under Chinese Zodiac), the new buzzword is “Capricorn Sheep” or more accurately, “Capricorn Metal Sheep”.
