For those of you who don’t know, Doug Ford is the 26th, and current, Premier of Ontario. On March 15th, 2019, the provincial government announced new changes and cuts to Ontarian’s education. Some of the most prominent changes include... In the next 5 years 3, 475 teachers are expected to lose their jobs, this means that classes will be much larger and there will be less one-on-one help given to the students. Also, high school students will be forced to take a minimum of four online courses in order to graduate. But what happens if a student is in need of a teachers assistance? What happens to those students already in high school? This is an unnecessary cut to our education. Next, there will be $600 million in cuts for student grants, and $440 million in funding cuts to universities, colleges, and high schools. Does Ford not want us to have a valuable education? There are so many more cuts that I have yet to mention, so if this affects you I highly recommend learning more information on what this means for you. We do not deserve to be told how our education will be managed by a high school dropout.
