@dougfromxmen gets a starter.
David could have sent someone else. Maybe Megan. Maybe Kurt. Anyone else really. Might be a better option. Someone who was showed to do more when everything came apart. Someone who wasn’t gone, wasn’t in hiding, when his people needed him the most, but there is also that sense of responsibility in him. A sense that he failed Doug, that he failed all of mutant kind. So, there is a bit of guilt in him when David appears before Douglas Ramsey’s door. For a moment his anxiety tells him to back up, to fold existence around himself again and go back to The Commune, but then he gets a mental waft of the gloom coming from the apartment before him.
Doug needs hope and David is the one here to provide. An odd place to find himself. Bringing hope within despair when so much of his life has been ruled by despair.
There is a huff and he takes a breath. It’s deep, calming, and completely unnecessary for his survival, but it grounds and that’s what he needs. David pulls himself up to his full height, squares his shoulders, and steps forwards. He knocks on the door. As he does so, David sends a gentle mental nudge in Doug’s direction. Just something small and he hopes comforting.
< Hey, Doug. It’s David, > are the words that come with the mental nudge. < Can I come in? >
