Underground Downspout Drain Advice
As the fall drainage season is quickly approaching, homeowners alike should be taking the time to look around their yard and check on their drainage system. One of the first steps is to take a look at the downspout and ensure everything is intact. If you are looking to take your downspout underground, you should use a downspout adapter to go straight from the downspout directly into underground piping. The downspout adapter is essentially a square collar that your downspout slides into and it has a round piece underneath that allows for the drainpipe to make its connection.
As you connect your line, remember it is easier and cheaper to go the route of not having catch basin. With this method of choice, maintenance will become that much more important and difficult because of the debris that will get eventually make its way into the line. There is also no sump area or a grate for the system that would help screen it out should this occur. The recommended and best method to go is with the use of a catch basin on your system.
