Portishead self-titled UK test-pressing (1997)
What’s great about Portishead’s self-titled era other than its’ amazing arrival is the art direction. Sarah Sherley-Price is responsible for the typesetting, alignments, neatness, minimalness, and the cleanliness of Portishead’s second album design. All the text is higher up and despite the small impact-like type, it enforces a strong emotional feeling whether powerful, tender, or sensitive. It does compliment the craftmanship of Beth Gibbons, Geoff Barrow, and Adrian Utley’s output, equipment, and overseeing the orchestral operandi. All which makes the overall feeling and being of their second album high-end and of the finest quality.
