“This better not be someone’s idea of a sick fucking joke.”
To the Pain || James & Wade
Wade wasn’t happy, things with Matt were a mess and he was going to ignore it. He fully intended to ignore it by just not thinking about it, or seeing Matt or talking to him. Or. Well a lot of thongs he’d gotten used to. Which means that he needed Opus back so he could live inside a pillow fort and never emerge. He was grateful really, that Sara had agreed to babysit, she wasn’t home when he got there, he figured it would be work since she didn’t answer her phone. He let himself in.
Life Round Here || Logan and James
Logan sat at the bar staring blankly into his drink. He’d been in New York for a few weeks now and he still had yet to find a bar that was quiet enough for his taste. The only bar near his apartment was full of teenagers that had somehow sneaked into the building and the music was absolutely atrocious and loud and obnoxiously shook the entire room, it was more of a club than a bar. He had made sure to tell the owner exactly how he felt about it before leaving furiously. So, here he was a twenty minute walk from his apartment praying that this bar would stay as calm and quiet as it was now.
Remember the Name || James and Natasha
True, she'd only visited her New York apartment once, before heading to SHIELD earlier, in the last several months, thanks to the longterm undercover mission she'd just finished up, but it certainly wasn't paranoia that had her taking an extraneous route back to her place. Years of experience had taught Natasha that she really couldn't be too careful, and besides, it would be good to know as many routes as possible. Which is what found the Black Widow walking through a small alley late in the evening, taking a roundabout route back to her apartment, Said alley was mostly empty, save for one man. Homeless, she judged, and not something to really take not of. Which was why she walked straight by, intent on her destination. but then . . . a glint of metal. Зима?
Surely she was not that exhausted, from her mission and from debrief and medical at SHIELD. Sure, it had been a difficult assignment, and she'd had to be be someone else for a long period of time- at the end of it, they'd found her out- but she'd suffered worse. And besides, they'd only held her for a couple days. Not long enough to do any real, serious damage to someone like her. SHIELD had given her a few stitches and wrapped up her ribs, and now she was fine. Surely, one night missing of sleep was not enough to make her hallucinate. Which meant . . .
She whirled around to look at the man, gun immediately raised and pointed at his head. She had not seen him for many, many years, until the bridge of course. Odessa, it had been, not long after her defection. Of course, she'd remembered him clearly, remembered his cries of pain from the last time she'd seen him, the day they'd been separated, but he of course, had not even known who she was. At least not consciously. But the fact that she was still alive meant he'd either at least known subconsciously, or that he'd been commanded to leave her alive. Unlikely, unless his current masters had hopes of using her. If they did, they were much mistaken. He hadn't known her on the bridge either. And he'd shot her again. And, Natasha had been quite sure, he would have killed her, if Steve hadn't interfered. But that didn't matter now. Because this . . . this was not a man on a mission, or undercover. This was a lost man, and what on earth was the Winter Soldier doing on the streets of New York City? Instead of being with Hydra, or on the run? And in this condition? "Зима?" she called aloud, her voice quiet and concerned. She remained cautious, however, her gun still directed at his head.
