Okay so this should be the last important character ref for Chapter 1, aka the Attic World. (i need a better name for this Dark World.) After this my plan is to post the minor characters like enemies, NPCs, and Minibosses but once those are out, I'm not sure what to start on next. I have many things I could work on, it's just a matter of choosing. Thus why shortly after posting this, I'll be putting up a poll. Anyways! Onto Jeanie!
The shopkeep of the first area, aka the Dusty Plains, Jeanie (like the spirit) is a mystic snake who lives alone in her tent and tells the fortunes of whoever enters. If we're to think in terms of mapping parts of the Attic World to Chapter 1 of Deltarune proper, imagine Jeanie as the Seam of the chapter. Some of her dialogue even makes mention to the cat plush, even though the two have never met proper.
Her name is a play on "genie", being said the same, just spelled differently, and tying to her mystic, fortune-teller vibe and occupation. As for inspiration, asides from taking on the appearance of a hooded cobra (a lot of the Attic World has some snake ties because of Broadway), Jeanie is an old fortune telling machine. I'm not sure if she's the full machine, or just a part of it, but that is her Light World counterpart. Her connection to tarot cards is likely due to the machine incorporating them into it's gimmick.
Being the first shopkeep, Jeanie's wares are rather basic. A healing item found a few times prior to meeting her, aka the Fortune Cookie, a stronger healing item in the Stitched Stew, a basic armor in the Crystal Lace, and a weapon for Chicago in the Fortune Cutters. I have descriptions for each of those items incase anyone's interested.
For a better look at her character, here's a quote from her shop dialogue when you ask Jeanie about herself.
"The name is Jeanie, like the spirit. Mystical Serpent of Mystery. This tent is my where I sell mystical charms and read palms, paws, and tails. I've seen quite a lot in my time telling fortunes. The past, the present... Perhaps even the future. Hee hee hee..."
Aside from asking about herself, during their first encounter with Jeanie, the player would be able to ask Jeanie about the Magician, ask for a Card Reading, or ask Jeanie how she was expecting the party based on her shop enter dialogue (depicted in the image above). Some of her dialogue will change later in the chapter, mostly after running into her a second time in the second area (the Feathered Forest) or once encountering Dorothy (the secret boss) both before and after fighting her. Under the cut is a list of what Jeanie has to say in her talk options.
You were expecting us?
"Legends have spread far and wide of Lightners who will come to seal fountains. Three legendary heroes who will save both light and dark from calamity. More recently, there have been tales and rumors among the Upper Choir of three young heroes destined to replace the Blue Knight and dethrone the High Priestess.
Call it premotion, call it fate, if you will... I simply call it inevitable that we would meet."
The Magician?
"Hmm? I'm afraid I do not know of the cat you speak off." She grins "Hee hee hee. Just kidding. You mean Magico, correct?
He is quite the trickster, isn't he? I heard he's been trying capture the Lightners who've come to seal the Fountain. All in the name of the High Priestess.
He wasn't always under her reign. None of us were. Our land did not have a singular, set ruler until recently. We were ruled by a collective choir.
Until one day, a mysterious knight appeared, and appointed the highest Choir member, the Priestess, into power. After which, she appointed Magico the Head Magician and her right hand.
It's been quite some time since this land has seen such upset in the Choir. Not since...
Well, perhaps it's better you not learn of that just yet."
Card Reading (Beginning of Chapter, before Broadway joins party)
"The Fool, The Magician, and The High Priestess. It seems your journey is just beginning, young heroes. Yet I sense great potiental and power shining within you. Perhaps such potential will aid you in the facing the powers and entities yet unknown.
Even still, buying a small protection charm wouldn't hurt."
Reading (Encountering Jeanie outside of her shop in Feathered Forest with Broadway)
"I left my cards back at my tent, but I can still read your fate through the vibrations of your soul.
Hmm... Interesting. I sense a lack of control. A slipping of string. Perhaps brought on by someone close to you interfering with your prior norm? ...
I suggest you talk things out with them, young hero."
Card Reading (Back tracking after CK and Remie re-join the party again but before the Chapel)
"Three of Cups, Eight of Swords, and Five of Wands.
It seems the rest of your party has returned to you. Though you've been apart for a time, it's important to remember the value of working as a team.
Especially since a great challenge still awaits you all on the path ahead. The Chapel and Priestess still lie ahead, young heroes.
Be weary not to let your own ambition and feelings get in the way of your collective goal."
Card Reading (Back tracking after entering the Choral Chapel)
"The High Priestess, reversed Nine of Swords, and Nine of Wands.
It seems the final leg of this journey lays before you, young ones.
Soon you shall duel with the Priestess to end her tyrannical reign. Bringing a new light to this land.
However such a battle can wait for a little while. Your adventure has been long and tiring, has it not? Why not take a short rest? I can make some tea and read the leaves before you must set off once more."
Odd Doll (After first talking to Dorothy)
"I sense you three have come across a strange presence oddly familiar but which you've never known.
A strange prisoner whom speaks in stitched together tongue?
... So I see. Seems the Magician couldn't hide her from all eyes forever.
...
I see many paths if you chose to go down this route more, yet oddly enough... The one in which you try and release her holds the most promise. It would not be my personal advice but... The stars have yet to steer me wrong yet.
Perhaps dealing with the doll once and for all will yield a brighter future for everyone. ... Perhaps it was wrong to lock her away to begin with.
A key? I do not hold it, but I have a sense as to were the Magician hid it.
Hidden among the trees, in the thicket of the dark. You'll find the path you seek, if you chose to take the lark.
That's all the advice I can give, so I would advise turning to the Magician if you get stuck further.
I wish you luck on your journey, young ones, and my the stars guide your path."
"Gate blocking your path?
As I said, I can offer no more advise.
Perhaps seek the Magician for assistance."
Odd Doll (After opening Dorothy's cell)
"So you say you've opened the door? That explains the wrathful energy I feel far away..."
I'm afraid can't see where your future leads from here. Do tell me how this plays out, if you can.
Or don't. I merely predict your path, only you can decide it."
About DOROTHY (After defeating Dorothy)
"Judgment, Reversed six of wands, and The Chariot.
I may not have known that doll for long, but I knew her cards, her fate, the path the stars laid out for her.
Or perhaps the path she forged herself…
Once she was nothing more than a blank doll. No face, no name, no path. She was a fool just as you are.
Yet one day, she came across a strange someone and it seemed her stars had finally aligned. She had been gifted an identity and purpose from some higher power, she said.
To this day, I still don't quite understand what she meant by that. Rambling on about the Truth, or our purpose, of creating our own stars…Yet I didn't NOT understand at the same time…
At some point she was let into the Upper Choir, but even they eventually grew annoyed with her ramblings. And so they cast her out. Exiled her back to these dust ridden plains.
She grew enraged, filled with an anger and hatred for all that betrayed her. She had to be locked away before she could hurt anyone else. It shames me that I had to be the one to call the guard…
Ever since, I've mulled over the cards and stars, seeking answers to what she said. Yet the skies shone dark and the cards even darker. The only thing I've come back with are more questions than when I started.
It makes one wonder…How much of the universe and fate can be understood and predicated…
And how much can only be navigated by the blind?"
We Won (After defeating Dorothy)
"The six of wands, the Tower, and the Devil.
So, it is true? You really defeated her? Then you three truly must be the heroes of legend after all…
However be warned, DOROTHY is merely the first step in your fool's journey. There is still a long way to go, and many more obstacles to face.
And one day soon… even the most darkest evil of all.
Hee hee hee…
Well, I can only wish you luck. Perhaps once you reach that point
You can come back here and I shall read your scattered destiny once more."
I've posted the refs for my secret bosses, both from my Deltarune take and Fool's Fate, so now I'm gonna start posting the refs for other Deltarune OCs too. Both from my Chapters 3, 4, and 5 takes, and from Fool's Fate. And what better place to start than your third party member from Fool's Fate herself, Remie?
Remie is the Junior Secret Squad's main healer, and quite literally takes the place of Ralsei for Chicago and CK. The boys, and Remie for that matter, have never met or really heard about Ralsei, and Kris is suspiciously quiet about the fluffy prince of the dark. Even still, Remie takes Ralsei's place as both party healer and overseer of Castle Town in his absence. She also seems to have the same strange knowledge that he did...
Remie's name is interesting. It's not an actual name, because similar to Ralsei, it's an anagram. Where Ralsei is an anagram for Asriel, Remienotta is an anagram for "marionette", as in puppet, both because she's based on a hand puppet, and because of Chicago, well... Speaking of origins! Remie isn't just any old hand puppet frog, she's Chicago's old baby toy. Basically like a teddy bear he's had since he was a baby, except a felt hand puppet. He lost her some years ago in his family's attic, which is where she ends up when the first fountain since Kris's adventure gets opened up there.
Despite speaking mostly normally, if a bit formally like Ralsei, Remie does have a bit of a text quirk. She'll often end questions with "Ribatti, ribatti/Ribatte, ribatte" or start/end answers and sentences with "Ribatto, ribatto." (There's a fun pun in what those translate to, let's see if anyone can figure it out ;)) Additionally, Remie will also use "Cra!" as an exclamation and speak Italian on occasion. Her name may not be a real name but she does know Italian.
All in all, I like Remie. She's just a funky little frog. Definitely nothing mysterious about her at all. Nope. Nothing. Just a normal healer for the party. Friendly frog here to help. =)
The final area. The final destination on this journey where you will finally face off against the Priestess herself. (With her trusty right hand, the Magician.) However first you must make your way up the floors of the Choral Chapel. A pristine building with blue walls, purple halls, and plenty of rehearsal rooms. Not to mention a mysterious floor found beneath the dungeon...
A bit before fighting the Priestess, you'll find the Magician has himself a little shop somewhere before the second miniboss fight, similar to Rouxls. A certain picture on his wall of a castle in a land far away may even be used as a hint to find that which unlocks the mysterious room below. However that mystery isn't for here. Instead, a riddle.
41. I can push and prod in any direction, on wall paper, flowers, or ideas. And upon that all, report on that too. What am I?
The two types of enemies you face in the Choral Chapel are Tuxman and Fouetette. (They can also be NPCs in the Dungeon.) Tuxman, a dapper fellow, is based on a tuxedo. Tuxmen are the baritones of the Choir. Fouetette is an upgraded version of Pirolette, and its a ballerina figurine. Fouetette, alone with Pirolette, are the sopranos of the choir.
42. My word is gospel yet I’m not god, I speak for the heavens yet I can be flawed. I am a father yet I have no sons, I have brothers and sisters yet my mother is a virgin. What am I?
All of the NPCs besides Ariana are mostly encountered in the Dungeon, though some Oddball can still be found on the Baritone/Bass floor with the Tuxmen. They're based on magic 8-balls. Lintmouse is a mouse made of lint. You can find three of them in the Dungeon to get a new title. Locked Nick is a locked up skeleton, and based on a skeleton key.
Ariana is the Choir's music accompanist, and based off a piano. You encounter her during various piano puzzles spread out through out the upper floors of the Chapel. She's also accompanied by Tolle, which I'll get to a moment.
43. My brother and I can open doors for you for the rest of your life? Both our names begin with the same two letters. His name ends in -sh. What is my name?
Mocking Jay is the first minibosses encountered in the Choral Chapel, and is fought right after CK escapes his cell. Asides from being a literal mocking bird, mocking and making fun of everyone, they are based on a cuckoo clock. MJ's neck can extend out like a cuckoo clock's bird. They are the Tenor lead of the Choir
44. If you're running a race and past the guy in 2nd place, what place does that put you now?
Tolle is the second miniboss encountered in this area, shortly after passing Magician's shop. She's encountered with Ariana, after one of her piano puzzles. If it isn't obvious, Tolle is a bell. For whom the bell doth Tolle. She is the Alto lead for the Choir, and sort of an upgrade/boss for the Chim-Chimes.
45. If you don’t maintain them, bonds and ties become me. Add an E and I'll become quite drastic, add an A and L instead and I become many. What am I?
46. I have four legs but never walk. I may be covered in flowers but have no soil. I hold food three times a day but never eat a meal. What am I?
47. I can go any direction I please, North, South, East, or West, however, the way I start never matches my end. What am I?
48. You can throw me but you can not feel me, you can look me but you can not see me, you can hold me but you can not cradle me. What am I?
49. I pass before the sun, yet make no shadow. You can feel me through your hair yet I'm only air. What am I?
50. A letter and a person, I am self, yet I’m not me. What do they call I?
You should have all the riddles you need. If some seem missing, seek the pond beneath the frog.
Once all are solved, go back to the snake's page and solve the cipher.
Alright! Time for the second area, aka the Feather Forest! A forest of pink, feathery trees decorated with ribbons and streamers. Somewhere in the middle of this area, there are some Ssnekmer and Buttonmitt selling healing items. This area is mostly traversed with Broadway after the party split before right before entering. I think this area also holds a familiar easter egg too... Though that's for the NPC section, before we get to the enemies though, here's a riddle.
31. What crawls on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?
The enemies. The only unique enemies to this are are Snazzalotl and Buttonmitt, as Ssnekmer can be found in the Dusty Plains as well. Snazzalotl is a snazzy quetzal, and based on a feather boa. Buttonmitt are snowmen comprised of buttons. Also I mentioned earlier that some Ssnekmer and Buttonmitt can sell you healing in a section towards the middle of the forest, similar to the Bakesale in Chapter 1 of Deltarune proper. Ssnekmer sells you Gummy Snakes, which vary healing depending on party member. and Buttonmitt sells you Button Drops, which also vary healing depending on party member.
32. What does greed always make you want, no matter how much you have?
Now the NPCs. DrumRboys are also found in a few puzzles (same with Pirolette) but can also be found just standing around. They're always seen next to Keysee. Chim-Chime are also multiple and found around, while Bulboid and Puzzle Jones are individual characters. Bulboid is found in one room where one of the trees has been decorated with ribbons, bells, and Christmas lights, and will comment on it. Puzzle Jones can be found near some of the puzzles and will either comment on how tricky the puzzle seems, or how impressed he is that you solved it.
33. You mistake want for me, yet it is not. If someone is me, you find them annoying though they require you. What am I?
DrumRboys and Keysees are little wind-up drumming toys and their wind-up keys, Chim-Chimes are little bells, Bulboid is a box of Christmas decorations, and Puzzle Jones is either a, an old puzzle of Papyrus's, or b, an old trenchcoat and fedora, also belonging to Papyrus. Thus why Puzzle Jones bears striking resemblance to Papyrus from what can be seen under his hat and coat. No one has seen the lower part of his face or the top of his head.
34. I'm not from the future and not from the past. Once the moment is gone, I no longer last. What am I?
And finally the minibosses. SsnekKing is fought near the middle of the area, and is a supergraded Ssnekmer. It's based on ribbons, snakes, and a rat king. To spare it, you have to find the right music genre to charm all three heads with the help of Broadway.
35. Add a T and I am not, backwards I turn to on, E and N you have none and you’ll often find me paired with E, S, and Y. What am I?
FashiRat is fought at the end of the area, pretty much before you go into Choral Chapel. They are a ferret who's made out of old socks and stuff. A very dramatic individual, FashiRat fights you to try to prove to Magician that they should be let into the Upper Choir, and you spare them by calling for an encore of their attacks before applauding them. At the end it's revealed that Magician never had any intention of letting them into the Upper Choir, but still encourages their performances to inspire the rest of the attic world citizens.
36. Poor people have it. Rich people need it. If you eat it you die. What is it?
Alrighty! Next up is the Choral Chapel characters! I'll post again once I'm done coloring those but in the meantime, have more riddles, Creative Creators!
37. How many times can you subtract the number 5 from 25?
38. Played both in battle and out, I may be small yet I always protect someone bigger. What am I?
39. What can you do freely as a child, but are for judged for as an adult?
40. I’m done by the sheep near the end of the day, yet change only my vowel and I am what the sheep is to the wolf. What am I?
Now that I've got the main/important characters of the attic world posted, time for some of the enemies, NPCs, and minibosses! Starting with the first area of the chapter, the Dusty Fields! A purple plain with some wheat grass and pink trees, with a sub section known as Memory Lane. It's in this area, somewhere before you get to Memory Lane that you encounter Jeanie's tent! Speaking of Jeanie, have a riddle. Can you solve it?
21. I can be a place of fun or a measure of justice, add four letters and I can be viewed as equality yet remove one and you won't see me at all. What am I?
Let's start with the enemies, hmm? Ssnekmer, Accessa-Ray, and Jazzarunic can all be encountered and fought in the fields proper, though Jazzarunic also appears on Memory Lane. Pirolette is only found on Memory Lane. For what they're based on, Ssnekmer is a ribbon snake, literally, Accessa-Ray are piles of acessories, Jazzarunic are old jazzercise equipment/tapes, and Piroletter are little ballerina figures. Not a lot else to say about them. ... Here, have another riddle. Leave the answer in the comments.
22. You can not escape me, yet you have the chance to change me. What am I?
For the NPCs, a good amount of the NPCs you encounter in the Fields are just non-fightable versions of the enemies, but there are a few unique ones. Jewelry Lizard and Gamiguy are both found in the Fields, while Phototy and Scraptrgeist are found on Memory Lane. Jewelry Lizard is just there to brag about her jewelry, Gamiguys (there are multiple) function similarly to the Tutorial Masters in Chapter 1 of Deltarune and are mostly business guys hard on their luck. Photory gives you a piece of armor in the Treasured Photo, which increases D$ earned in battle. Scraptrgeist is found near Photory and mostly just says a few lines. Jewelry Lizard is a jewelry rack/pile of old jewelry, the Gamiguys are old paperwork/origami projects, Photory is a disposable camera, and Scraptrgeist is an old scapbook/photo album
23. No matter what you add to the end, I always come last. Yet replace three of my letters and I am first. What am I?
Now the minibosses! Chronolion is found in the middle of the Fields, somewhere right before Jeanie's shop. It's based off a grandfather clock and a lion, with it's mane being a gear that was needed to unlock a door halting progression. Once you spare Chronolion, it pushes it's face into the door to let you go forward.
Sir Slinkwriggles is fought at the end of Memory Lane, right before the next area and is based off Broadway's stuffed snake of the same name. Magician traps and uses Slinky to fight the party, against Broadway's wishes, causing her to get mad and betray him. After wards Magician hops on Sir Slinkywriggles and escapes into the forest before CK and Remie run after him, causing a party split.
Slinky does not appreciate all this abuse.
24. What's value is 0 yet journey's through the deck? Is seen as stupid yet can be used as a trick?
And that's all I have for the first area! I'm almost done coloring the Feather Forest characters, so expect that to be out soon. Just need to color the minibosses. In the meantime...
I believe y'all have some riddles to solve.
25. The imprisoned wish to be me, yet those that are me rarely think they are truly. My domain holds no rulers, yet my land is open to all. Many find me valuable, yet I cost nothing. What am I?
26. I'm always a question but never a person, place, or thing. I am the odd one out among my family. What am I?
27. Two on a side, four on a field. A steed without jockey, yet still I don't yield. What am I?
28. To be me you must learn yet the more you have me the less you have me. Put me before a ledge and I am power. What am I?
29. What can take many forms, from canine friend to valiant knight, and can be always seen through support or sacrifice?
30. I trick people yet I am praised, make people disappear yet they give me a stage, can slip a man’s wallet from out his pack, yet when the shows over I’ll always give it back. What am I?
Now that I've posted Remie's ref, time for the main bosses of Chapter 1 of Fool's Fate! Why are there two? Why not? (Really it's to make it easier to cram like, 14, 15ish tarot cards into 10 chapters?)
The rulers of the attic Dark World. Or more accurately, the leader and her right hand man. Upon entering the attic Dark World and after meeting Remie, Chicago and CK (and Broadway) run into The Magician (aka The Magnificent Magician Magico) first as he barges through Remie's little fortress to stop the Lightners from closing the Dark Fountain in the name of the The High Priestess (or High Priestess Bailette who isn't properly met until the very end of the chapter.)
Magician fills a sort of Lancer/Queen role, following and trying to thwart the party as they traverse the attic world, all the while, idolizing his Priestess. Being very active and eccentric as well as trying to test the party's (pr specifically Chicago's) potential.
The Priestess, meanwhile, is only mentioned throughout the chapter until you fight her and Magician in the final battle. Her presence is felt but she's rarely seen. Even when you do finally meet her, she's cool,, level-headed, and quiet.
Even in the final battle, Priestess isn't actually shown to attack that much, mostly providing support by boosting Magician's attack and using some support attacks that are easy to dodge on their own.
Their names (at least the ones they tend to go by) are derived from the tarot cards that inspire them. Magician being, well, the Magician, and Priestess being the High Priestess. (For the names Magico and Bailette, Bailette comes from a previous iteration of this story, The Puppet and The Real Boy, and is a pun on ballet, baile, and the name suffix -ette. Magico is just derived from magic and I added an -o to the end) Asides from being inspired by tarot cards in both name and personalities, their actual Light World items are a magic kit and a ballerina music box.
Backstory under the cut
Once just a simple Pirolette among the choir, Bailette wasn't really anyone of note. She played her role, she sung her part, as just another voice in the crowd of sopranos representing the populus of the attic world.
Yet even despite her small role, Magico (head of the Baritone/Bass section) was completely enamored with her. He found her voice alluring, its soft and quiet notes matching her gentle and subdued personality. ... And so it turns out, Magico wasn't the only one whom Bailette had caught the eye of either...
For one day a Knight arrived to the land. Twisted ribbons dancing in the wind as they stabbed into the earth to give this world its form. A great geyser of darkness flowing forth and amazing all the Darkners who witnessed. After wards, the Knight declared the Lightners the Darkners worshipped abandoned them long ago, leaving them up here to rot and collect dust.
The Knight then pointed to Bailette, appointing her the land's new Priestess and leader and warning her that soon a group of Lightners will arrive, only to try and seal the Fountain the Knight just opened. Soon after, the Knight disappeared, leaving the attic world to it's own devices.
Now left on the throne, Priestess went a bit mad with power. She locked up anyone who dared to oppose her and started plotting silent revenge against the Lightners who had abandoned them and their world. She appointed Magico as her head Magician and right hand, her loyal guard who was tasked with carrying out her will. The Magician was happy to oblige, still madly in love. She was his Priestess, and he was her loyal Magician. Together they ruled from the top of the Choral Chapel. ... Until a group of Lightners stumbled into the world, just as the Knight foretold.
So I've decided I should probably post refs of my Fool's Fate bosses since I did that for my prediction bosses and since I'm including them in my secret boss reactions, it'd probably be useful that people know who the heck they are.
Though Dorothy and her backstory has been mentioned on my side blog @apupp3tw0-strings as Chicago learned about it in real time, and I've mentioned her a few times here, I'm betting most of you don't really know about her as I haven't actually posted her backstory here. So here you go.
(Dorothy's battle theme by my wonderful friend @kierangecko)
Her name isn't intentionally a Wizard of Oz reference (though looking at her outfit during her height I can see it), but instead as it means "Gift of God", which will make more sense when I get into her backstory and how she met the "strange someone". Basically, her name, her whole identity, was a gift from what could be considered A God. Perhaps more of the eldritch variety to Darkners but still a God.
Her text quirk is speaking in clips stitched together from those she's heard, aka other dialogue from Undertale, Deltarune, or Fool's Fate for the purposes of me playing her in an RP I've been running on my Discord server. She has no voice of her own, and can only mimic the voice's she's heard.
I love Dorothy. She snowballed from me getting the idea of a mannequin or something without identity or purpose that was given one by the "strange someone". I also think she'll hold a place in my heart as the first secret boss I created straight up. Before even thinking of making Bitsy, Elymas, or Veratus. Back when I was in the mind set of "I don't want too make prediction bosses because I'll get it wrong when the chapters come out and it'll be ruined." Now I have had character development and said "Fuck it. I'm making my own take, this was gonna diverge from canon anyways."
I still need to finish my Dorothy plush.
Backstory under the cut
She used to be nothing but a blank doll. An empty face with no name, no identity, no purpose. A blank slate longing to be filled. Her Light World counter part is a DIY doll kit that was meant to be a Gyftmas gift for Broadway, but was left up in the attic and forgotten about.
No one paid any mind to her. Barely anyone knew she existed as she wandered aimlessly around the Dusty Plains. Her only companion being the snake fortune teller who'd set up shop out in the Plains. Jeanie would listen to the doll even without her saying a word, and read her fates many time. Each time the snake assuring the doll that her future held infinite potential.
On day though, the doll came across a man. A strange someone who offered to lend her a hand. He gave her an identity. A face, a voice, a name. Dorothy. And after pulling the last thread to give her a mouth, the man gave Dorothy a purpose. Live the life she wished to lead, but come to him if she needed anymore help. And so she did. The first step in the man's new plan.
With the man's help, Dorothy was finally recognized and rose in popularity. Eventually joining the Upper Choir, the governing force over the Land of Attica. Dorothy couldn't be happier. People knew her. People talked to her. People... listened to her. It was around this time that the man enacted the next phase of his plan. Showing Dorothy the truth of this world. Revealing that they were all nothing more than a bunch of dusted toys and clothes up in an attic. The Lightners they all worshiped weren't coming back for them.
The rest of the Choir didn't like it when Dorothy started spreading this new gospel. They exiled her back to the Dusty Plains. This outraged the ragdoll. They refused to see the truth. They were blind. All of them were blind, blind fools. In her exile, Dorothy was driven to violence, ripping the Plains apart with pins and needles, attempting to puppeteer those who refused to see the truth right in front of them. She had to be stopped.
And to think that her only friend since the beginning was the one to call the Choir Guard.
Dorothy was locked away for quote "Your own and every one else's safety." She yelled and screamed at that stupid Magician as he walked back to the elevator, leaving Dorothy all alone in a padded cell forever.
... That was until a possessed puppet and his companions happened to find their way down.
----------------------------
Her story is meant to mirror/parallel Jevil's in a way, though it also takes a bit from Spamton's. I think I've gotten better at writing secret boss backstory's since making my prediction bosses, but I still like Dorothy and her backstory. She and Jevil are friends post Fool's Fate Chapter 1.
So, not a Junior Secret Squad doodle (yet, I'll get to it later), but I wanted to show off some Darkner OCs for Chicago's Dark World adventures. These are the bosses of what would essentially be Chicago's Chapter 1, an Attic based Dark World.
Priestess Bailette, based on a ballerina music box, and The Magnificent Magico, based on a magic trick set. I'm planning on having a tarot theme with the bosses of Chicago's story, so Magico is the Magician, playing a more active role as an antagonist, while Bailette is the High Priestess and more secretive and inactive.
I imagine the final battle against these two would have Magico being the main attacker and Bailette being a supporting enemy who doesn't actually attack.
Credit for the idea of Bailette goes to @lost-skid
