To form a temporary truce, Gohan collaborated with Gero (Android 21 made him do it) and wrote a Bestiary which was celebrated with many book signings.

Since Dr. Gero was already a celebrity scientist, this cemented Son Gohan’s position as a great scholar.

Working on a big thing about Bulma and this is really only tangentially related to it.

FUN FACT: You know that funny gag TFS did about Bulma's parents being swingers? There is actually foundation in the manga for that.

(TFS's jokes are full of a ton of obscure Dragon Ball lore because KaiserNeko is a huge Dragon Ball nerd.)

During the Red Ribbon Army arc, Goku visits Bulma's home to get the Dragon Radar repaired. During that time, Bulma comes up with the idea of going with him. Yamcha is not invited along because he and Bulma are fighting.

It's been eight months and their relationship is already miserable, with Bulma even indicating a desire to trade up.

The response from Bulma's mom is... unexpected from a married woman.

When Bulma gives her dad the news that she's heading out, he has this to say.

From the context, it's likely in my opinion that they're both teasing Bulma. She went out on a mystical journey to use legendary reality-warping miracles so she could conjure up a magical boyfriend, and it wasn't entirely fruitless. She came home with Yamcha.

That is a ridiculous thing to have done and an even more ridiculous thing to have kinda succeeded at. So, as she prepares to go off once more, they're ribbing her over it.

But given the general cluelessness of these two characters, it's just as likely that they're being sincere. You can take it either way.
