MORE DR/SDR2 Useless Trivia!
You guys seemed to like my first trivia post, so have a second installation! It might not be as good as my first one so please bear with me ;u; As usual, the trivia was taken from this Korean site, so please tell me of any inaccuracies...and of course, SPOILER ALERT!
Komaeda Nagito's early concept was that of a detective--a very smart, malicious detective who uses his brains for evil, not for justice.
You might know that Ko-ma-e-da Na-gi-to is an anagram for Ma-ko-to Na-e-gi-da (I am Makoto Naegi), but did you know that it wasn't intentional? The naming was entirely a coincidence. When they came up with Komaeda's name all they wanted was a name that would sound vaguely like Naegi's so as to reinforce the image that Komaeda is kind of a "rival character" to Naegi. The anagram was never supposed to happen...but it didn't stop fans from noticing.
In the early stage of SDR2, when the character's names and profiles were just beginning to be released to the fans, there was rampant speculation that Nanami was Naegi's little sister. When her full name was revealed, however, people started to think that Komaeda was Naegi's sister, dressed as a guy...as improbable as that sounds. It was the most popular theory until the game itself came out.
The game developers say that along with Monobear, Fukawa Touko--not Enoshima Junko, mind you, but Touko--is the character that best represents the Dangan Ronpa universe. Small wonder that she was picked to be a playable character in Another Story.
Dangan Ronpa IF revealed that it was Chihiro who programmed Monokuma's system....making Alter Ego, Nanami, Monomi and Monokuma siblings, in a way.
In the very first stages of the beta of DR, Junko was the first to die. Then the beta victim was switched to Kirigiri, and finally to Hagakure.
The producer wanted a scene in the game where Kirigiri cuts her hair short, but in the end the idea was scrapped.
Togami was, at first, Naegi's rival in the purest sense of the word, but later as they wrote the script his character kind of degenerated into Naegi's fellow investigator.
Megumi Ogata, Komaeda's VA, said that she almost got sick after playing Komaeda because she got into his role so much. She also noted on her blog that although it's easy for the fans to write him off as "crazy and deranged", Komaeda's character is far more complex than that, and his own actions seem to be reasonable for him. so stop mischaracterizing him god dammit
Although it's hard to notice, that "stop" sign in Hinata's eyes turn into a cross+circle sign near the end of the game--symbolizing that "stop" turns into "go", and "despair" turns into "hope".
