A brilliant array of colors shot up into the sky as a spiral of sparks! Then the enchanted fire swirled and flowed, now starting to imitate water. A simple gesture of the hand sent more fireworks shooting up into the sky, these more on the grey side of blue, and some even white. Using her wand as a sort of drawing instrument, she instructed the sparks to form shapes, now letting aquatic animals fill the sky.
Her very own aquarium!
A school of fish scattered as a killer whale swam through them, while over to the left, a pod of dolphins chittered and played around with each other. Frieda smiled brightly at their antics, then lit a few more fireworks and sent them up to join the others. This next shape needed quite a few sparks to form.
She molded the mass of sparks, while the other creatures looked on in curiosity. Once the shape grew, everything else moved aside to let it pass. A low noise passed through the air, accompanied by its maker: a sperm whale! The slow, deliberate movements were a bit easier to focus on, but they ended up lulling her to sleep.
Next time she'd pick something faster to manipulate.
Playing hide and seek in order to test Leora's abilities was definitely a good idea. In fact, it was probably one of the best ideas Frieda ever had, though having to search for her own child became more worrisome than fun after a few minutes passed them by. "You're getting really good at this, so it's about time to come on out~!" Please? She couldn't voice that plea, not yet. It was just a silly game! No point in worrying the kid over things.
Besides, this forest didn't hold any dangerous creatures. She'd checked it over several times.
"Mornin' hen. It's awfy nice to see you," He kept smiling and gestured towards Leora. "And this little lass here."
Frieda wouldn't say she was panicking or anything, but she did end up apparating between him and her child without thinking. "What did you do to her?" He simply chuckled at the venom behind her words, not seeming to mind.
"Calm down hen, we were just havin' a bit o'fun."
Leora piped up with a, "Yeah mum, he's pretty nice!"
Of course, Frieda didn't calm down one bit. "Just let us talk, dear."
Talking's a shit idea.
He glanced between Leora and Frieda, still smiling the smile that made her hair stand on end. "Never thought yew'd settle down, Weasley. Ye finally chose a side," She seemed visibly stricken at that, but he continued. "An' had yerself a wee bairn! I'm so proud." His eyes flashed with something unreadable once he said that. "Yer daughter here showed me some of her magic, an' she's pretty good. Although..." he trailed off, fixing Frieda with a knowing look.
"She could be even better with trainin'."
The word sparked something in Frieda, and her eyes glinted with murderous intent, but she instead held on to Leora and backed away from him, not taking her eyes off him for a second. This goddamn /pig/. "You won't touch her." Her narrowed eyes implied that he wouldn't even have the hands necessary to attempt such a thing.
"Mum, you're hurting me..." Leora squirmed under her mother's grip, trying to gently ease her out of her hyper-vigilant state. This was honestly a lot easier to deal with back home, especially when it usually meant they had stuff in the house to help with this sort of thing. But something about this guy kept Mother like this. Who was he?
Frieda's grip loosened at her child's protests, but she didn't let go. Not around Oliver. And then he stepped forward, of course he did. A reflexive plea was bitten back, instead replaced by a harsh, "Don't come any closer, Oliver."
That was the name....Mother said that name before. Leora's eyes widened at the realization. She hadn't heard the whole story--as if Mother would sit there and tell it to her--but the way Mother acted was a good enough indicator of how bad it was.
"Mum, we should just--" You don't want that man around your mother. In response, her magic caused the air around them to crackle slightly, though neither of the adults seemed to notice. Oliver seemed to think Leora was just scared because of her mother, which was true, but still. "We should just go. The game's over..."
He's a pig.
"Oh, yew've put her off her fun. Tsk, tsk."
Goddamn him! You should kill him~! Make up for lost time, Frieda.
As good an idea as that seemed, that wouldn't really set a good example. But what else was she supposed to do? She didn't even know if he'd gotten any better at dueling, and while she was pretty sure she could force a nonverbal Full Body Bind, the thought of an aftermath terrified her. Leora's my priority... She held Leora close as he closed the space between them, visibly growing more and more distressed. Before he could touch either of them, they were gone in a blink.
Tears spilled from her eyes as she put them through the series of apparations, but she held strong until they reached the portkey. She apologized to a shaken Leora through hiccuping breaths as they stopped to take a break. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, just hold on a little longer..."
Leora looked up at her helplessly, unsure if she could even touch her to comfort her. What if it was like some of those other times, and she ended up getting hurt? The look in her mother's eyes concerned her, but she simply forced a smile and nodded, trying to say things were okay. She seemed to accept it for now, though her hands had a noticeable tremor as she reached for the portkey.
Once they both touched the portkey, it took them back to the motel they'd started from, and Leora quickly disengaged from Frieda and went inside. Not that Frieda really minded, having sunk to the ground as soon as they landed. Leora simply watched from afar, seeming almost...disappointed.

Shut Me Up - Mindless Self Indulgence
And there he was again, stalking in that feeble way he tended to do. The ginger played along for a while, acting as if he couldn't tell anyone was following him home, only to appear behind the man without a sound. Forcing a soundless apparation was a bit of a strain, but it was worth it to see Larry's reaction.
As he stepped back, Fred grinned cheekily and moved forward, another bag of Galleons held just outside the man's grip. "You just don't stop comin' around, do you? Is it the money you want~?" A curious look, and then his grin seemed to rival the Cheshire Cat's. "Or have you taken a shine to me, eh? Don't feel bad, it happens~"
Of course Larry'd shove him away after that, with the one good arm he had anyway. It was just so hysterical! He was so small, so fragile, so...meaningless. And he seemed to feel the need to go up against those much bigger than he knew. Oh, how fun it would be to rile him up!
They were both covered in blood, gasping for air as they lay against a wall, the incessant grinding of metal on metal their only companionship. That, and a sword. As they were both trying to breath with the newly-acquired bulletholes, no one was really about to really mind the blade.
Though it pained him, Fred tried to reassure the Pyro, not paying attention to how little they spoke. "Don’t…don’t worry, yeah? We’re gonna go back to respawn an’ everythin’!"
Fred, we cannae just lie to-
"We're all goin' back to...we're goin' back to respawn, you'll see! They...they wouldn't cut it off, not now. Right, Finny?" The question fell on deaf ears though, as Finnian had already gone limp in the demoman's grasp. Fred, just let 'im go. He didn't bother responding, still trying to keep himself from outright sobbing over the unmoving body.
**********************
They weren't exactly close, but that didn't mean Fred was about to sit here and watch the squiddy Pyro die! He's more of an octopus, ain't he? "Medic!"
"No! N-no Medic..."
"But you're...I don't know how to fix it..."
Arthur wasn't able to really respond, the reaction to the cinnamon turning any attempt at speech into hacking coughs.
*********************
Fred tilted his head, not able to understand why they seemed so...distraught, with the barrier in the way. Those defibrillators should work, right? Then he saw Emilio. His hands gripping the candy tighter, he tried to see why they were so upset, though he had a pretty good idea why. He just didn't want to believe it.
As the flatline droned on and Derek screamed, he found himself wiping away tears, already trying to run away. Come back! Emilio!! No, no...not him. If he didn't see it, then it didn't happen! Emilio, I will save you, I swore that I would!
"Doctor, it's no use! Please stop!"
The nurses found Fred huddled in a corner later, still shaking with quiet sobs. "Medico..."
‘Please don’t die’ (as if that one thread wasn't enough..)
Please don't die...
He offered a bloody smile, trying desperately to reassure her. "I'm...I'm tryin' not to, kiddo." Though there wasn't much he could do, even with his magic, about being bitten. "But you know what you have to do."
It was hard to try and act like a chunk being taken out of the shoulder was no big deal.
"You either leave me or...make sure I don't turn, but either way you have to go back to Daryl." Biting back a statement on how he'd deserve turning into one of them anyway, the wizard clutched at the sleeve of her hoodie, desperation in his eyes. "You have to make it back, you have to. I'm so...I'm so sorry I can't--"
00:00:00 bc that would be hilarious. Also those are some BA fangs yo
((Thanks~))
As he watched the timer reach it's final moments, Fred couldn't help but notice there was something wrong. As if it wasn't even bothered by the emptiness of the surrounding area, the numbers grew smaller and smaller, until...
00:00:00
But...there wasn't anyone in the room. Did that mean he wasn't supposed to have a soulmate? Even though he was a tad relived, he couldn't help but feel betrayed. What was it all for?
00:00:00
This was some sort of joke.
00:00:00
This countdown nonsense couldn't have been leading up to this!
00:00:00
Why lead him on, then? It would've been better to not have one.
00:00:00
"Don't fuck around with me! This isn't funny!"
He could almost feel the smirk in the air. No. He wasn't turning around. The countdown stopped for an empty room, so it obviously meant he was supposed to be alone. Another voice broke the silence, causing Fred's hands to clench unconsciously.
||| 00:00:00 for humanwalker {because this is fun. of course walker would probably be less shy towards someone who is not scary looking like daryl} |||
Already? Now that it was happening so soon, Fred found that he wasn't all too sure if he was ready. Maybe...maybe he could just ignore it! He had a bit of time, all he had to do is find a place to be alone. A rooftop should do nicely, right?
No one stays up here, so it's safe. Exultant that he managed to avoid the countdown for another day, he checked his wrist, though his face fell instantly.
00:00:00
So...he didn't win. Then he had to find out who it was! At least knowing might make things a bit better, somehow. Searching eyes met another's, surprise and confusion mixing with the slight bitterness of defeat to create his expression.
"Er...did yours run out too? That probably sounds like a bad pickup line, sorry."
To be honest, this "countdown" thing all seemed like a waste of time. Fred, Frieda, either one...why did they have to be stuck with just one soulmate? It just seemed so stifling!
But that wasn't something voiced all too often. It was a tired argument now, played out even. Interestingly enough, the timer seemed to be running shorter and shorter each day. Was it supposed to be happening so quickly? It wasn't actually supposed to matter, right?
Sitting alone, Frieda kept stealing glances at her arm while attempting to drink her coffee, almost burning herself due to the nervous excitement. As soon as a new girl walked in the shop, glancing at her own arm, the timer read 00:00:00
They glanced around, as if asking who it could be, when her and Frieda locked eyes. Deciding to take the initiative, the ginger spoke up with a hesitant grin.
"So...it's you? Or, uh...was that a bad way to word things?"
