ao3! very occasionally, for based-on-art fic and stuff that starts with ‘okay but what if’, tumblr.
what medium/application/etc. do you write in or with?
scrivener is my everything, yo. it serves my extremely non-linear writing and need to procrastinate by organizing things that don’t actually need organizing. also stats! and pretty colors. i keep all my projects on dropbox, so i can jump from desktop to laptop at any time
do you collaborate with others?
it’s been known to happen, albeit rarely. i’d love to do it more, to be honest, but i’m nowhere near brave enough to ask anyone to do a thing with me so. yeah. not that often.
although it should be said that my evil catcher partner in crime @todaythesamesky and i have spent two years shouting stories at each other daily, so that should probably count even though the public will never see those.
how much editing do you do before you publish?
ALL OF THE EDITING ALL THE TIME
i edit as i write, i edit in my head, i edit before posting. and after posting.
I EDIT IN MY DREAMS
do you listen to music when you write?
usually not. i like music that has words but it’s very distracting so. quiet is best.
how do you decide what to write about?*
it’s a five stages process:
something about canon catches my attention
’what if?’
start pulling at the thread
THIS COULD BE AN AMAZING STORY HAS SOMEONE WRITTEN IT
no -> oh well i’m gonna have to do it then / yes -> but it’s not 100% what i had in mind, oh well i’m gonna have to do it then
sometimes there’s a prompt from a kink meme or something similar but i’m so slow at finishing things that the meme is usually buried by the time i get to it
when do you write?
weekdays, ~4:45pm. and kind whenever i feel like it?
how often do you write?
i try to write every day, which has been made easier lately by a daily Words appointment with @todaythesamesky <3
do you take requests? why/why not?
no but yes. i never formally open my inbox to requests, because every time i have in the past i completely flaked out of writing anything for anyone. but i’m very easily incepted, so if you throw an idea at me it’s guaranteed to seed a story... that may or may not ever go anywhere.
Is there any genre or type of story you want to write but are hesitant to?
nah, i write what i want to write. posting/publishing it, now, that could turn out to be a different problem. but it hasn’t so far.
any inspirational quotes, videos, tricks, articles, etc. that help you stay motivated?
...not really? though talking about what i’m writing with someone who’s interested is always very motivating.
go to page 7 of your WIP, skip to the 7th line, share 7 sentences, and tag 7 more writers to continue the challenge.
i find it hilarious that it says ‘your WIP’. like there can only be one. ahahahahaaha
also my stuff is way too non-linear for such things as ‘pages’ at the wip stage but i did my best to approximate it so here have the new iron wall on the night before their first game at koshien
"I got a message from Jun-san earlier."
Haruichi's fingers are playing with a magnetic bookmark stuck to the cover of his book. He's not reading anymore.
"He said some of the graduates are coming together," Youichi continues. And then the list, which he knew by heart after reading it just once. "Tetsu-san of course, and Tanba-san, Sakai-senpai, Chris-senpai—"
"That should make Eijun-kun very happy," Haruichi says with a small smile, but he's closed his book now, directed his entire attention to Youichi. They can sit here all night pretending this entire list isn't leading up to the only name they're both really interested in, but tomorrow's going to be a long day and they need to get some rest.
tagging people um i haven’t really been on tumblr lately so some of you might have done it already but @anorable, @cheetahing, @lesbiopteryx, @pinetreekate, @timespells, @todaythesamesky, @trubluswablu
