Detour detour: Draft Animals
In a detour from the detour through French detective fiction, I hogged Phil Gaimon’s new book Draft Animals: Living the Pro Cycling Dream (Once in a While). Published by Penguin, which he observes in the WordTour for English majors.

The author often remarks on his college degree--almost no pro cyclists go to college. They used to call Laurent Fignon “The Professor” because he’d been at veterinary school for a term. But after publishing three books and with long-running columns in cycling publications, Gaimon can say to his college writing instructor, “A-, my ass.”
