Dragon Age Inquisition really missed a lot of opportunities on backstories for the game. Can you imagine being able to start as a templar? As a dwarf that's seeing the surface for the first time (and seeing the sky torn open)? An elven slave that's freed itself from Tevinter? A Qunari spy that becomes Tal Va Shoth because of the events?
It misses so many opportunities to actually develop the Inquistor as a character in general, you only really get small glimpses as you play (I know role playing and all that) but it just would've been nice to have so many more options that would allow you to sit and go 'yes, this is my character, this is the path they've chosen for better or for worse'.
