I love both the movies and books a lot but something about Hiccup and Toothless's dymanic in the book series really appeals to me.

something about dragonese being considered a "nerd" thing and being banned outright and how it starts (as so many things do in the httyd books) as a childish joke that doesn't really mean much and develops as you read into yet another horrifying way in which vikings have enslaved dragons, taking away all respect and wonder and fear from them to make them into caricatures, poorly kept pets instead of the intelligent, sentient creatures that they are

I've been re-watching HTTYD I've watched HTTYD 1 and RTTD. And I've read sone fics and dispite not having the books I know Hiccup understands Dragonese and can sometimes speak Dragonese.

So what if when the crew was on trial by Mala in Caldera Cae when Hiccup was first speaking to Mala he got nervous and started speaking in Dragonese which caught tge dragons attention

I've been going through the How To Train Your Dragon book series by Cressida Cowell. And by that I mean I've been listening to the audiobook series on youtube. It's a remarkable series, and while I also like the dreamworks films for what they are, I wish the original world had more attention. sometimes I consider that like 4Kids did with TMNT, someone would adapt said books into animation. But then it hit me;

How could we adapt Dragon-Speak?

As the Asterix series has shown us, doing a foreign language in print without actually writing a foreign language is simple enough; just change the font type. But how would you pull that off in a story put to the screen? With actual spoken dialogue you can hear? can anyone figure that out?

Dragonese

So in the httyd books I think it is mentioned that some of the words in dragonese are hard to pronounce because humans don't have a forked tongues, but if you want to be technical humans can fork their tongue. There is a cosmedic procedure that does this. Now I'm not saying he WOULD. I'm just saying that Hiccup has 100 percent at least THOUGHT about forking his tongue to speak better dragonese, even if he decided against it.
