ive seen a lot of people talking about the ableism around why people don't/won't ship mel and langdon, which has lots of very valid points - mel giving off "asexual vibes" (because she's autistic) or is incapable of romance (because she's autistic) or langdon being bad for her because he's an "evil drug addict". it's a really important conversation to have. i love mel to my very bones and i also love langdon but

i absolutely do not think they should make their relationship romantic. not because mel is asexual/incapable or that langdon would be bad for her, but because i truly believe making it romantic would ruin the genuinely good representation of friendship they have that NEVER gets shown in media (and as an autistic person, irl too)

the perceived "cool cocky guy" whos more senior in the medical hierarchy being compassionate and friends with the obviously autistic person. showing that meaningful friendship can exist, when the type of person langdon presents as early on is the type of person that usually bullies autistic people relentlessly.

he recognises her skills, LEARNS from her, they make jokes together etc. he remembered tiny details from the worst shift/day of his life (also the first day he meets this person) and months later remembers and helps her in the same way she helped an autistic patient. if it turned out to be oh he has a crush on her that's why he's nice to her it would really ruin that imo. turning it romantic would feel shallow and easy when what we have at the moment is a really meaningful, non stereotypical display of autistic/allistic friendship.

always had a dislike for the force even before being a Burnish, probably saw a lot of injustice as a kid

wanted revenge at first but an older/dying burnish gave him words of wisdom to not be like those who are after them/freeze force

was a good kid in school, got good grades and never really wanted to stand out

definitely not used to physical affection or any kind really

might just have a thing for fire still and forgets that he isn’t connected to flames any longer. he usually doesn’t do anything extreme but he can’t shake that old connection

survival instincts strong how does one cope with normal life

p calm but loses his shit over some things you wouldn't expect

Galo offers his home to Lio as he has none to go back to. Lio denies the offer because he still wants to help out the ex-Burnish folks. Guiera and Meis have it mostly covered so he’s free to stay with Galo now

i've seen so many people talk about how mel is being wasted this series and how she is being boring or isn't doing anything. maybe it's too autistic of me but i assumed her not being as involved as the first series was because she had her deposition at the start of the day and is literally fighting to survive the rest her shift because of the toll that would take on the autistic brain and body. then with the added stress of becca coming into the er and the sudden change in what she perceives their relationship/life to be, she is just trying to hold it together. also she's done 10 months in the pitt now as a highly empathetic undiagnosed autistic person surrounded by absolute chaos and emotional turmoil every day, on top of her carer role. she is probably severely burned out.

maybe i'm just projecting because i see her in myself and the people around me, and maybe the writers wouldn't think this deeply about it or understand about autistic burnout and they have just overlooked her this series idk. i would absolutely like to see more mel in the last few episodes though because i miss her but that is my thoughts on why she hasn't been as involved.

hello this is my introductory post. i am trying to use tumblr more because twitter is a cesspit that makes my eyes bleed and my heart beat too fast, but instagram is too formal and there's nowhere to ramble - so here we are ig.

i started this blog to share my photography, but it has already turned into a mess of everything i am interested in/obsessing over which is fine - the facade of being aesthetically pleasing and mysterious is simply too much upkeep for a silly autistic nerd like me.

i am disabled and queer, and i like photography and reading and music and playing instruments and birds and lighthouses and living by the sea and playing video games and watching tv shows and films and

my blue badge is going to run out in december, it is my second one so i have already been through the renewal process once where i used to live, and it took months of them fighting us because i got 0 points on one element of PIP but the full 12 points on the other element (if you get 12 points you automatically qualify) and the council system didn't like that and tried to claim that the maximum points on one section is 10 not 12, so that meant we were wrong ones, obviously. (even though i already had a blue badge and used the exact same evidence to get it, we were just renewing).

so naturally i have been dreading renewing again in my new area. i filled out the form for the renewal on sunday (which had drop down boxes for how many PIP points you have and guess what, 12 points was there, shock), and i got confirmation that it was approved and will be printed and sent to me - less than 24 hours later.

i actually sat and cried because i'm so tired, my family is so tired and traumatised from having to fight for support that i qualify for and have the evidence to prove it, when it could be that easy. i've spent the majority of my life being traumatised by systems that are meant to help disabled people. it's always been bad and it's going to get so much worse.

the disability benefit reforms are going to kill disabled people, SEND reforms will kill disabled children. the stigma and hatred that they are feeding you via the media is going to kill disabled people.

Kazemaru hcs bcuz its his bday (I’m late but oh well)

he’s a bit popular in town, especially with the elderly! since he goes running in the morning he becomes a familiar face and ends up talking to them.

if he can, he will help them out! he worries about being late for school but manages to make it on time...most of the time, some of the elderly really want him to stay and chat longer

hasn’t learned how to properly handle stress and just keeps it all bottled up.

he’s popular with the girls but doesn’t think much of it

he does get a lot of chocolate for valentines and returns what he can for white day, but he stresses over it bcuz he wants to makes sure everyone gets a chocolate back

would definitely be good at dancing but wouldn’t like to dance in front of others to often

during his morning runs he likes to pass by teikoku ;)

or he used to pass by it on his morning route until he started becoming self aware of his crush on genda and then started to find another route. eventually he goes back to running it

genda tries to steal a kiss sometimes when they manage to time things right and it flusters kazemaru terribly. literally everyone knows when this happens

raimon would definitely throw him a party for his bday! he knows they’ll do something for him but insists it’s nothing big/grand and just wants them to celebrate at school, maybe go out to eat. depends.

he, endou, and kabeyama probably stay with each other the latest and they walk home together

once they are together, genda waits for him outside his house with his own present. he also brings his favorite cake! they have a lil celebration together and genda promises not fluster him...too much
