BIOGRAPHY:
The age old question of strength vs mental is a line Drake walks constantly. He grew up in Queen, New York right outside Manhattan but still connected in the grand New York City boroughs. It was easy to blend in because no one cared whether you were a mutant or a jackass who heckles bodega workers. Everything about New York was getting from point A to point B.
Drake lived with his mom. His dad was out of the picture because his mom was a sex worker. Drake never knew why his dad left one day but he always assumed it was because of his mom’s profession. His mom struggled a lot with the mayor cutting back on adult stores, shows, and pornographic material which used to be the mecca of Times Square. Drake had to go from watching his mom leave to go to work to now bringing work home with her. This brought on constant bullying.
Despite NYC being a place where no one cared who you were. It was also filled with scum who liked to pick on the weak. In middle school is when Drake started to discover his powers. He was able to change his teachers perception. His powers were still new and the hold he had on them dissipated really quick. By high school he realized he was a mutant. There were a ton floating around the streets some more easier to spot than the next.
The bullying wasn’t severe but people still pushed Drake around no matter where he went. Drake couldn’t get a grasp on his powers. He ended up controlling a person mind for a whole day before he could actually break it. Finally, when he was around 19 years old he took the first train he could up to Westchester where the X-mansion was.
Drake studied there for a few years. He wanted action not schoolwork. Which he battled relentlessly for more in depth training. Eventually, he left the school once he was able to get a grasp on how his powers worked. Without a purpose in life Drake enrolled into a Criminal Justice school and began studying to take the police exam.
That’s when The Brotherhood struck. Drake watched in horror as it happened. New York City became a looters paradise and the city went into lockdown. Drake had to walk over the bridge back to his mom’s house. As he made the long walk back a couple of looters spotted him. They didn’t know he was a mutant at the time and went to steal his wallet. Drake fought them off and tried to use his powers on one of them but that only angered them more. Drake was beaten with every inch of his life until he was hospitalized. Despite the crime not initially motivated because of Drake’s powers the cops turned their backs on him. Mutants became their enemy. They wouldn’t let him sign up to be a cop.
Drake roamed around for awhile. As the injustice and hate crimes began to rise. So did Drake’s unrest. He tried stopping a group from burning a mutant. Instead they took Drake and beat him senselessly to the point of near death. He has residual scars from that attack. Drake hoped the X-Men would step in and save the day, but they never did. It made him bitter. Every time he stepped in to try to help another mutant it made him angrier that it was him and not the X-Men solving the problems. Drake was one of the councilmembers, assigned to help The Headquarters out.
Since then he’s taken himself off the grid completely. His mom doesn’t know where he is though he checks in on her from afar. He spends most of his time training to get stronger, better, all the while unsure where to go from there. Though his anger towards humans has grown exponentially since 2016. He doesn’t trust anyone but mutants at this point, and even then he’s wary.
Play this before you read. It's just something I wrote when I was sad about Drake :|
Santana's eyes were bloodshot. Her heart barely beating. Her body barely feeling. It was raining outside. Or maybe it was just her. She glanced up from under the tarp for a second and noticed dark clouds forming above them. She settled back in her chair and sighed softly. It suited the situation. Her eyes unfocused but she shook it off and glanced at the others. Ava was standing, squeezing Luk's hand. Her eyes filled with unshed tears. Not because she couldn't cry, but more because if she did, she wouldn't be able to stop. Luk turned his head to look at her and Santana caught the emptiness in his eyes. Tears fell freely down his cheeks and he turned back to the casket. A soft sniffle came from his right. The blonde turned to the man who used to be Matt. He would never answer to that though. That was a different person. Matthew was a different person. The giant glanced to his left and his lip quivered. His pain evident. Squeezing his eyes shut, freeing the tears from his eyes, he looked away and reached for Curly Sue, only to be pushed away. Santana's eyes drifted past them to the trio further down. She hadn't known that Jerkuff had gotten back together until they showed up together, but her eyes caught Rucy's and she almost fell into him. But she didn't. She couldn't. Today, she had to be strong. Her eyes met Sarah Ann's and she swallowed down any kind of emotion. She had to be strong. She quietly watched as the other Now Kiss cast started to show up and pay their respects. Hunter, Austin, Blaine, Elle, Isabella, and Jesse all showed up, each with their respective others. The sad look in their eyes as the passed the casket and what was left of a broken friendship. Charlie and Quinn were standing a little ways away, tears in their eyes as they wrapped their arms around themselves. Puckerman was holding his and Luk's son, Nokas, and looking solemn. When the boy questioned who was in the casket, and what happened to him, Puck just kissed his forehead and said. "He was a good guy and one of Papa Luk's best friends." Davlin was standing next to Quinn and Brittany, holding back sobs. Swan and Audrey were holding each other. Audrey's face puffy and tearstained. Rachel sharing the identical face as she held on to Mike, whose face was solemn. Even Sue herself was stonefaced and unmoving. No one was speaking when a man in a black suit stood in front of them Solemnly. Santana's eyes moved to the casket and she drowned everything out. She remembered. Everything. The first time she met Drake. Their first meeting in the house. Their first week in the luxury suite together. Her first breakdown with him holding her, never leaving her side. The wasy he smiled his oofy looking grin. She remember the feeling of needing to comfort him when his father passed away. and how her relationship with him and Sarah Ann grew into love. She could fell the tears well up in her eyes as she recalled the day the twins were born and how happy they all were. Her family. She still remembered the night Drake fell asleep with James and Logan in his arms on the couch. His hair was sprinkled with baby powder and his chest smeared with baby food. Santana remembered the look on his face every time they made love. And she remembered how it all ended. How hard it had been for the both of them. Retreating from those memories, Santana looked around and went through the motions. When asked if she wanted to say a few words, she shook her head and listened as a few others did. Before she knew it, the service was over, people were leaving, and his casket was being prepared to be lowered. She stood up and asked the men to wait for just a moment longer. The only ones left were Drake's mother, Sarah Ann, Ava, Luk, Matt, and Lucy. They watched as she took a deep breath and walked up to the thing that held one of the most important people in her life. Santana closed her eyes and saw him, standing in front of her. The same as he always did. His eyes were bright and his smile wide as he spoke. "Miss San San. I will be missing you greatly. She felt a tear escape, she'd been trying so hard to fight it. "Drake. I- I miss you so much already. I don't know what I'm going to do without you." He gave her a knowing smile and she swore she could feel his fingers wiping away her tears. "Do not be worrying" He whispered, "You will be doing fine. Promise me this though, that you will be keeping eye on Sarah Ann and the twins. Yes?" He wrinkled his nose and nodded. Santana sucked in a breath, trying to be strong for what she assumed to be a figment of her own imagination. "I.. I promise. You know I can't stay away from them." Drake grinned and pressed his lips to her forehead."Take care of yourself. I love you, Miss San San." Santana opened her eyes and inhaled slowly as she set a hand on the casket. "I love you, Drake. Forever." With that, she stepped back and nodded to herself. Quickly, she wiped away the excess tears and turned to the others, vowing to keep her promise to him. The only one he ever really asked for.
