Pepper didn’t have to run her own errands anymore; one of the perks of being The Boss was she had people to do mundane tasks for her, so she could focus on her job. She never overstepped, nor did she ask anyone to do something she wouldn’t do -- she had once been in those shoes and did and saw many a thing she didn’t agree with. She vowed to do better by her PA.
Today, however, she felt like going up the street to get her own newspaper. Sometimes, she felt like one of eight people left in New York that still read newspapers, but she liked having the physical paper in her hand, even if she did still follow along on her phone.
As she tucked her wallet back into her purse, she turned to exit the line, unfolding the newspaper just above the fold to read today’s headline, when her shoulder bumped into the person behind her. Eyes lifted to meet his gaze, a little stunned and embarrassed she’d been so clumsy. “I’m so sorry, I -- “ Her mouth snapped shut.
