Dreaming of wings

About a month ago I had a dream I knew someone who had the glider wingsuit thing pictured above. It was a very short dream. I tried on the wings and they turned into something like realistic fursuit wings, but I chose to represent that instead as the mirror reflection showing what it felt like.

This also shows how my "tail" functions in flying dreams. It's essentially just the leg portion of a wingsuit since dream flight for me requires a tail for stability and needs physical limbs to represent nonhuman things like wings and tails for flight to function reliably

wishing I could just have my dragon dream for once. all my dreams are just me back in school.

ive only had one dream tangentially related to dragons this decade and it was me watching my friend be a YA novel protagonist with a magic necklace that let her turn into a dragon while I just had to watch someone else live my dream. there was a crazy guy trying to find a way to turn into a dragon on his own without the necklace but it just seemed hopeless for me. I literally had the necklace in my bullshit human hands and I couldn't do anything with it.

this bullshit is giving me imposter syndrome. "am I really therian if my subconscious self is still human shaped? do I need to become 'more therian'? wtf am I doing with my life?" etc.

I had a dream where i kept running races and would win in weirder ways, bike races, hoping races?? All sorts, but the final win was one where i ran quadrupedally. It felt right. I could feel my claws and my limbs. I want to be able to do that now, here, in this life.

Dream Shift

There is half a dozen question when it comes to dream related alterhumanity. Namely, when one has a dream shift (where you are transformed during or already while within a lucid dream, to be more aligned with or as your ‘type), the question is usually “does that mean something? Is that my kintype/fictotype/theriotype?”

What that question is asking - am I dreaming about being myself, am I getting the confirmation that is indeed what I should identify as.

This is with the assumption that dreams can tell you exactly what you need to know.

Dreams and Alterhumanity

The thing is, dreams are abstract things. A combination of your daily life happenings or your subconscious thoughts. And depending on your beliefs and situation, dreams can have elements ranging from potential interaction or interference with your systemmates, to a glimpse into your other lives, past, future, or parallel, or indeed, something going on that is indicative of your alterhumanity.

Problem is, people are still only thinking of identify-as identities.

Why did I wrote “kintype/fictotype*/theriotype” up there? Because that’s usually what people ask about. We are still dealing with a lot of the “alterhuman is only identifying as nonhuman, and maybe identifying as fictional character, oh and maybe otherhearted folks, I guess.”

As a periodic reminder, and part of the point of this post, alterhumanity is a HUGE umbrella - it is made intentionally to be used inclusively - [1][2][3][4][5]

While dreams are abstract, unreliable things at times to be used as a tool to assess your own identity.

When it comes to dreams, a community like ours, where things can easily become deeply contemplative, philosophical, metaphysical, and occasionally spiritual, dreams and their meaning can be valued greatly within our community. Things that came out of a dream also seem all the more significant. “I dreamed of being a bear, so I must be a bear.”

Dreams and the Dream Dragon - Cameo Shifts

I have many, many lucid dreams. I’d call myself a natural lucid dreamer. I, and the rest of the Constellation, are all dream dragon. Our keystone is dream.

Consequently, we do put quite a bit of stock into what our dreams tell us. But it is also why we are intimately aware of how fickle dreams and their meanings can be.

Within more than half of those dreams, I had dreamed of being many different things, creatures, humans, fictional characters, just a bystander/camera, and of course, as ourselves. I cannot always discern if I am me or if the “me” I was at the time of the dreaming held any importance that I should look deeper into. I also cannot always come to a conclusion upon waking and even after pondering on it.

I'd been a water nymph, a fictional character with a source that I had been fixating on that later turns into a strange creature and then a magical turkey, I'd been a faun, or maybe just something human with ram horns.

I put many of those under the category cameo shift. Or more precisely, cameo dream shift.

Dream Dragon's Dream Shift - Alterhuman 'type Shifts

Not all of them are cameo shifts. I'd mentioned having some that are me, or us. We aren't always in our dragon shape. In fact, I have frustratingly many dream shifts into random dragons that have nothing to do with us. The amount of times we'd dream shifted into scaled dragons is very annoying, and sometimes dysphoric.

There are also a couple of other dream shifts that aren't a cameo dream shift, but aren't the typically associated kintype dream shift. I'd dreamed of shifting into our kardiatype, I'd daydreamed with semi lucidity--dozing off in the day, of interacting with my fictohearttype (which did cement the fact that it is a hearttype, but brought in the question of being a potential kardiatype for a while). And there are still more dreams we cannot remember, or just have an inkling of the dreams, but nothing concrete enough for us to put down.

We are only going to have more dreams, with more that would give us pause, urging us for a closer look, and many more that will have us be frustrated with their utter meaninglessness.

Dreams are wonderful, dream shifts more so, but treat them with a grain of salt. Always remember that you can have shifts for more than your kintype, that not every dream you dream of with a changed body is going to be a theriotype, and any known fictional character you come across in your dream doesn't need to be tied to your fictotype.

*fictotype - with the same thing happening to fictionfolk as a label, it gets hard to figure out if fictotype is strictly for fictionkind or if it can apply to all fictionfolk, so I'm putting an asterisk there.

Another dream shift where I was with a friend and saw a huge field, and I was too tempted and ran away from them, I found an apartment strip and was nosy seeing if any of the tenants needed help with anything, also annoyed an old lady who was being a bitch lol, the last tenant was a pretty woman and I sat by the pool as she swam, hoping she'd notice me
