Day 19 | Dream Collaboration #marchmeetthemaker @therealadamsavage I’ve been to San Francisco twice, both times in my heart I hoped, I wished, I prayed for one of those movie type encounters with my personal living hero: Adam Savage If you think that sounds name sounds familiar, yes, it’s the Mythbusters guy. If you know who he is, then you know that he’s a former model maker for Industrial Light and Magic, TV personality, champion of S.T.E.A.M., internet content provider and overall nice guy (at least, in my head he is). I’ve been following him since his first episode on Mythbusters in 2003. I’ve grown to love his weird, over-explained technical speech coupled with real world skills. Since Mythbusters went off air, he moved to what we all really watch now: YouTube. I love hearing his battle stores of failures, successes and triumphs. My goal is to one day stumble upon niche thing I’ve made that he’s interested in, and then make him one. I like to think my design process, methodologies and ways of thinking were informed by him. When I first started Skinth, for some reason the laptop I had in my bedroom studio had 2 episodes of Mythbusters, one of which had Adam and Jamie slip on banana peels for science. I will never forget his jovial laugh as he slid on his back in a Tyvek suit across a plastic sheet on the slipperiest substance they could find, animal birthing fluid. I watched it everyday for months. Adam is my patron saint of Making, design thinking and savage work ethic. #makersgonnamake #maker #dreamcollaboration #prettyplease (at Winnipeg, Manitoba) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvMYdi3h8Qk/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=10hcly914txb5
