@dreamsongsims asked: I would love to know the process you use to create your sims. They always look so unique and I'm utterly blown away.
First of, thank you so much for your kind words, and your question, I truly appreciate it. Thank you. Now to my answer: Hm. I’m actually not quite sure if I do anything particular? I study faces I suppose? I’ve always been fascinated by the features of people‘s faces, the bone structure, each little line or curve that makes us all so unique! NowI’mCreepyAgainSorry. To be honest, when I create sims I mainly just play around with sliders and that’s that. The process differs a bit from sim to sim, but the thing that is always in common is sliders, and the fact that I mostly use eskin’s and makeup to give the sims extra facial features such as pores, eyebags, wrinkles or shading. I also use custom teeth masks on 90% of my characters, they just look so much better/real than ea teeth!!! I do layer makeup with Nraas, but it’s not necessary, in my opinion, to get unique sims. But yeah, when I make a sim I let it be mostly up to sliders. I like to just move them around, also sometimes completely exaggerated, and then slowly take it down to a more normal volume. I like to study faces in Google if I feel like I need inspo. Let’s say I want to make a ‘cute brunette girl’, I’ll search that and see if anything comes up, maybe I’ll see a nose I like on a girl, and try to sculpt it in CAS, or maybe I like the shape of someones jaw, then try to recreate that. It’s rare I try to actually sculpt a whole face in CAS, I’ve only done that maybe 2-3 times. To me it’s harder to recreate a complete face rather than 1-2-3 features you like. I also use this technique when I try to create poc sims. I find it intimidating to make sims of other ethnicity than myself (I’m a potato), but it’s a great help to make more specific Google searches such as ‘young Japanese woman ’ or ‘poc girl with freckles’. You can find so many interesting faces out there, then study them, see what makes up their face, the shape of their lips, the width of their nose, the length of their forehead. Just simply study it and try to recreate the features you like. A good portion of my characters are also born in CAS (kids of already existing characters) so yeah, I don’t know how much I can take credit for that? It’s mostly up to their genes. But I would say I always tweak them a little, to give them their own uniqueness still, I mean, few of us look 100% like a split between our parents right? I guess I try to keep it realistic. I do want to say I rarely use the picture method, it’s just all I can really offer when it comes to some sort of help/answer. Beside simply saying ‘I play with sliders, skins and makeup’. I mean... *sigh* ... yeah, it’s the best I can offer really, cause that’s the only thing I sometimes do that isn’t just moving sliders around. I wish I could help more, but I really don’t have a magic formula.
I just do.
