I never thought of her wearing it backwards. Not you being our abstract thinker. Outside the box vibes. It wouldn't even be the first time. She also wore her Gucci pussybow blouse backwards.

Hahaha I can't take full credit for it - someone on twitter said it and I thought hmmm this I can get on board with.

I haven't seen a picture of the back of the dress to see if my theory holds any salt. But I'm wondering if either the addition of robes was a last minute decision and Sarah and Catherine didn't like the way it looked with the robes pinned with that neckline and/or didn't want to ruin the front with pins. Or they knew about the robes, Catherine wanted the neckline shown in the picture to go with the necklace but didn't like the way it looked with the robes, and they designed it to be worn both ways from the start.
