"Axiom: the best place to conserve your water is in your body. It keeps your energy up. You’re stronger.” #Dune I sweat. Like a LOT. That's not a design on my shirt. No, that's salt from dried sweat. And while I felt really well trained for IMTUF100 last weekend, what I was apparently NOT well trained for was the heat and it was that sweet sweet sweat that did me in. I got dehydrated early, was in total denial about it, never really recovered and after a while I couldn't push it. I puked a couple times on my way to finally missing the cutoff at mile 70 and felt the sweet release of DNF. Ahhhhhh. But the course was nevertheless beautiful and I still had "fun" while I was out there. With plenty of time to reflect since, I think the worst part of dropping out of a race like this is I'm left feeling unsatisfied and incomplete long after. Like the cliffhanger movie ending setting up a sequel or a bowel movement interrupted by my kids, I'm left feeling totally unfinished. I was lucky enough to even get the chance to race this summer, but as Alaska moves into Fall it looks like I'm gonna get to feel "unfinished" for a while. Which I guess is pretty fitting for 2020 anyway, so I guess I'd have to say the race went pretty much as expected! Bring on 2021 already haha #drinkearlydrinkoften #muchsaltsuchwow #imtuf100 (at McCall, Idaho) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFTuRhKnUni/?igshid=1s5qj0tl19ze1
