Breaking News - Boston school bus drivers strike
A surprise strike by Boston school bus drivers has stranded thousands of students, forcing some to hitch rides while others stayed home.
Most of the city's 700 bus drivers suddenly went idle amid a dispute with the contractor that employs them, stranding some 33,000 students, according to district officials.
Boston mayor Tom Menino said the strike was illegal and he would pursue every possible legal avenue, including a court injunction, to force drivers back to work.
