the chariot: thoughts on astrology?
Gretchen checks her horoscope every single day, as well as the horoscopes of those she cares about. Most often this means checking her sisters’ and sending them the clipping along with her latest latter. However, it’s no use denying that she’s never been able to skim past the Gemini section she started reading religiously when she and Harper first became close; first, it was to look out for her friend and, later, it was to see if any guidance could be bled from the stone.
Since Gretchen is such a huge believer in taking action, she does NOT believe that fate is written in the stars. She is, however, the harmless brand of conceited that loves to hear her own name in conversation and see her sign talked about on the back page of the Prophet. More than that, she’s also a huge believed in signs from the universe. She uses astrology more as a mental tiebreaker when she’s not sure what her next move should be, or a conversation starter when something’s on her mind she doesn’t know how to broach.
So she believes in it to a degree, and doesn’t laugh at people who take it more seriously than herself. She thinks it’s a viable lens for understanding oneself and the surrounding world, not to be relied on solely but not to be shrugged off, either.
What she DOES take very seriously and won’t hear a word against is wandlore - she 100% believes that a person’s wand wood/length/core says a lot of important things about them, and focuses heavily on that the way some might believe in astrology.
