I accidentally enrolled in a course where they said I didn't had enough prerequisites so I'll be de-enrolled. Will this affect my tuition? Will they refund me? I'm more concerned about my finances (osap) than getting de-enrolled. TYIA
This may be a late response, but yes it does affect tuition if you do not drop the course in time. You will only get refunded if you dropped the course by the refund deadline.

Hey yorkulife :) Bless your souls for helping us especially during these really weird times. I have a question about academic probation and if theres anything I can do to avoid problems for the upcoming Fall 2020 OSAP funding. I just dropped to part-time recently (summer 2020) and I know this means I'm probably going to be on probation. But given the unusual times I'm wondering if you think they'll be more lenient especially because its my very first time doing this :(
Hello sadzone101,
Thank you, we’re doing the best we can under the circumstances. :)
How do you know for sure if you’ll be on probation? From what I understand OSAP usually puts you on probation if you drop too many courses, or if you fail to meet GPA requirements. If you’re only dropping one course, then how does that result in probation?
Also, there is no way to get out of OSAP probation for the second time as far as I’m aware. They are only leninent if it happens for the first time, and usually require an explanation of your academic progress. If you’re put on OSAP probation for the second time, then they stop funding for 1 year. Having said that, I have no idea how OSAP will be responding to the impact on students due to COVID-19, only they can answer that.
Another thing I’ll add is that, academic warning and OSAP probation are two different things. Academic warning is given by the university based on GPA, and OSAP probation is given by OSAP.

Hello, i was wondering since the drop deadline is now May 9, is it still possible to drop even though you took the final exam for that course?
I think so... 🤷♀️I mean we’re all facing this for the first time too so I can’t say anything for sure. But like I told an anon previously, try dropping the course, and if REM allows it to go through then you’re good.

Hi! I tried dropping a course but it says I can't drop it because it has already been graded.
Hi anon,
I would recommend reaching out to the Registrar’s Office in this case because York did extend the drop deadline for W and Y courses to May 9.

Thank you for advice i end up dropping the course than getting Grade Reappraisal cause nothing is guaranteed . If anyone failed or did terrible in a class you have till may 9 to fully dropping the course without a mark (thought i should share)
No problem anon, glad it worked out for you!

Hi, im planning to apply for grade reappraisal for a course i failed 2 perecent by.. do you know how the process works. Another question is they extended the drop date till may 9th are you able to drop courses that you complted in the winter that you got a final grade in?
Hi there,
I’ve never applied for a grade reappraisal, but I have heard that most students don’t choose to go down that route because your course work will be re-marked more strictly without any leniency. So it’s possible to come out with an even lower mark than you already have.
Here’s more info:
https://myacademicrecord.students.yorku.ca/grade-reappraisal-policy
To submit a grade reappraisal you need to get a grade reappraisal form from the course department of the course you’re trying to get re-marked.

Good question. I’m not 100% sure, but if you have the option to drop the course then I would personally opt for that. If your mark hasn’t shown up on your transcript yet and York extended the deadline, then I’m assuming you can still drop? You can try dropping the course on REM and see what happens. Normally, when you pass the drop deadline REM will not allow you to drop a course, which is why students will usually submit a petition in this case as that’s the only other way to drop a course.
