I’ll readily admit that the band name drew me in. Drunk Elk is actually named more for principal member Dave Elk. They made this LP in Hobart, Tasmania back in 2007, and now this is being reissued on Goaty Tapes (based in Los Angeles).
I’d never heard of this label, and it’s not big, but they already have shown a penchant for re-releasing fairly obscure/experimental recordings in addition to newer bands.
Drunk Elk rely on Dave Elk’s voice and little else. As such it reminds me of The Native Cats (and Peter Escott), The Great Unwashed, and The Bibs (out of Detroit)
