"Gerome," Lucina wrote with a light smile on her face - nowhere was it specified it had to be romantic love, and after all they'd been through, she'd like to give her friends a reminder that they were that. Her friends. "We've known each other for what feels like so very long, and I've enjoyed every moment of it. We don't always agree, we're can both be as stubborn as mules, but I appreciate all of our time spent together. I look forward to a brighter future with you in it." Signed, Lucina.
Gerome stared at the neatly woven words on the small paper, not sure how to react. It was a letter of appreciation it seemed, yet how she could truly mean those words he was not sure.
[I've enjoyed every moment of it]
He had not exactly tried to make their time enjoyable... Sure, he had never driven her away like he did many of the others; They truly had known each other for a long time after all... and she had done more for him than he had repaid her for.
When he really thought about it, he did not deserve her sentiment. And yet here it was, black on white. She had gotten the right of it, they did not always agree. And she sure was stubborn! well... maybe he was too... but he had his reasons. reasons that she probably understood all too well.
[I look forward to a brighter future with you in it.]
What was he to do with this?! Rubbing his temples he placed the letter on his saddlebag. Should he reply? But what would he write... That he felt the same? That he would fight until his last breath if it meant that he could fulfill her ridiculous hope for a better future than the one they had returned from? She had earned his respect and gratitude more than once, not only as an ally but as a friend. A good friend...
Agh, damn it all.
Carefully, he lifted the latter again and let his eyes run across the letters again. With a sigh, he folded it the way he had found it and carefully placed it in the depth of this bag, hopefully for noone to find. He did not know what to make of it all and he didn't want anyone else to take that task from him.
